  18. What is a mail-server?
  19.  
  20.    A mailserver is an automated job that will scan my mail file for messages
  21.    with a subject line of "MAILSERV" and will then automatically carry out
  22.    certain operations within the body of the mail message. This makes it easier
  23.    on me and you. Easier for me so that I don't have to deal with 50+ messages
  24.    each month asking for files to be sent out and also insures that your files
  25.    that you requested will be sent within 24 hours. In addition it allows 
  26.    files to be more easily sent and accessed in case you are not able to 
  27.    extract the source files from C= Hacking.

  29. How to use the mail-server / What it is.
  30.  
  31.    This mail-server is intended to help me keep track / more easily update my
  32.    mailing list of individuals who wish to sub-scribe or get back-issues of
  33.    C= Hacking mailed to them.

  35.    To use it simply send a message to "duck@pembvax1.pembroke.edu" (me) with a
  36.    subject line of "MAILSERV" and then with one of the following commands in the
  37.    body of the mail message:

  39. Currently the following commands are supported:
  40.  
  41.   help              - sends current documentation f file list
  42.   send <filename>   - sends the associated file
  43.   subscribe         - subscribe to the mailing list automatically
  44.   catalog           - show list of available source /uuencoded binaries
  45.  
  46. Please note that the mailserver is only run at 2:00 AM and 2:00 PM EST.

  50. The catalog list is no longer going to be carried in the documentation due to
  51. how frequently it's updated. As such, if you wish to obtain a list of files
  52. currently available please send a mailserver command of "catalog" (as discussed
  53. within) to the mailserver.

  55. Snail-Mail Alternatives

  57.  For those of you who wish to obtain C= Hacking via regular mail please send
  58.  $5.00 for a 3 1/2 disk in CBM format for all 8 issues currently available.
  59.  Since I'm working on the "I'll do it when I get around to it" method please
  60.  allow at least 3-8 weeks before delivery (it should be much sooner
  61.  typically). Please note that if you and a friend both want a copy of the
  62.  disk, just buy one disk and copy it - I'm just charging for my time and the
  63.  disk - not for the magazine. The magazine is "free". I can be reached at the
