- you will be contacted through the same BBS or mail if desired. If you want

- The name and ID number are added to the "notebook.ini" information which
- sits in the "winnt" sub-tree. Notebook will run without the nagware
- display when the "ini" file contains a proper name and ID number match.
- The proper name will appear in the title bar at program start.
-
- The matching name and ID number will work in minor version number
- upgrades containing minor fixes or improvements to Notebook for NT. As
- always, constructive criticism is appreciated.
-
- Notebook for New Technology in beta to be sure, is available for
- the Windows NT operating system. Notebook for NT has the functionality of
- Notebook 1.D for Windows 3.1. Notebook for NT single user registration fee
- is twenty dollars US, or ten dollars US to registered Notebook users.
-
-
-
- * Here are some of the features of Notebook for NT October BETA:
-
- Word Wrap mode is available.
-
- A Margin dialog box is where the title and page number output to the
- print spooler can be controlled.
-
- A Fonts dialog box is where screen fonts and tab-stop spacing are
- selectable.
-
- Output to the print spooler is word wrapped.
-
- A File Print Selection command allows selected text of the document
- to be sent to the print spooler. A Print Selection defect in Notebook NT
- 9/19/92 is fixed. The File Print All command sends the entire document to
- the print spooler.
-
- A two-sided print function halves paper demand.
-
- Files can be opened by command line parameter association.
-
- A File Run dialog is available.
-
- Searches scan the entire document from the current position or from
- a particular line; or just Go To a particular line number; or go to the
- End of the document.
-
- Searches can be Case sense selective.
-
- A powerful automatic find and replace all function is available.
-
- A bookmark function is available.
-
- Current line and file size information can be displayed.
-
- A File Delete function allows multiple file deletions with
- confirmation.
-
- A File Merge function that can be undone allows the insertion of a
- text file anywhere into the current document.
-
- A file extension list box is on the open, delete, merge and run
- dialog boxes.
-
- File Open and File Merge can insert carriage return line feed pairs
- as necessary to format the document.
-
- Control codes can be edited.
-
- An Edit Select All function allows the capability of huge copy, cut,
- paste, delete and undo operations.
-
- An Initial Size and position feature allows the beginning Notebook
- window size and position to be user defined.
-
- A modeless Go To dialog box means that the dialog box stays open
- during main window operations. Find and replace history is available in the
- Go To dialog box. A Replace push button on the Go To dialog box allows
- continuous find and replace action by push button. Set Find, Set Replace
- and Line # push buttons are available on the Go To dialog box. Set Find and
- Set Replace buttons allow selected text to be copied to their respective
- buffers. If no text is selected, then the buttons clear the buffers. The
- Line # button clears the line number entry. The find and replace buffers
- can hold 63 characters each.
-
- Binary files can be read. Text can be edited, sent to the clipboard
- and pasted into a destination text file.
-
- A Print Setup dialog allows default printer selection from the list
- of installed printers.
-
- Note: Notebook 9/19/92 for WinNT built with the July release allows
- temporary modification of printer driver settings, whereas Notebook 1.D for
- Win31 allows permanent modification of printer driver settings. However
- trying to use the same code for Win31 and WinNT may not be possible in this
- case. Print Setup dialog code of the October release is less compatible
- with Win31 code than Print Setup dialog code of the July release. Although
- Notebook 11/7/92 for WinNT cannot change the printer settings, Notebook is
- made available asap to those who have the October release.
-
- Client drag functions allow up to ten files to be dropped at a time.
-
- ----------------------------------------------------------------------------
-
- My thanks go to the hard working folks at Microsoft. Thank you BobL
- and PaulT for your continuing efforts. Also thanks to Microsoft consultant
- Jeffrey Newman for the S3 driver.
-
- Notebook can open files to the limits of available memory. This
- version limits the edit control to 40 kilobytes. Therefore response to
- keyboard input stays constant and not slowed by ponderous memory movement of
- a huge EC. For now the vertical scroll bar range is limited to this edit
- control size. To travel to the next or previous section of a document press
- an enabled menu bar push button or type Ctrl+PgUp or Ctrl+PgDn. Work will
- continue to eliminate the vertical scroll segmentation.
-
- Notebook.exe is bundled with a help file called notebook.hlp,
- several useful icon files including one for black and white displays called
- notebkbw.ico, and this file called noteinfo. This is Notebook NT compiled
- and assembled with October BETA SDK. The label "7-Nov-92" is right aligned
- on the menu bar.
