LISTICO is composed of two executables, a MS-DOS version and
a WINDOWS 3.0 version. These 2 programs have the same major functionality:
Display WINDOWS 3.0 ICONS for users of VGA (or EGA or SVGA) graphics
boards.
The LISTICO MS-DOS Version supports the following graphics boards and
resolutions: 320x200, 640x200, 640x350, 640x480, 800x600
and 1024x768 (ATI Wonder only)
LISTICO supports WIN 3.0 ICO files with the following resolution:
32x32x16, 32x32x8, 32x32x2, 32x16x2, 64x64x2
LISTICO displays alphabetically up to 4000 icon files.
With the LISTICO MS-DOS Version, you can easily find an icon
in a large library and launch an Icon Editor.
LISTICO supports the following Icon editors: IEDIT, ICON2, ICONDRAW and
IKE. For a review of icon editors, read the file: ICONEDIT.TXT.
Have fun, using LISTICO.
1. DISTRIBUTION FILE
---------------------
BBS Distribution file must be named LICO20.ZIP or LICO20.EXE
BBS Description: List(ico) your WIN 3.0 ICOns files

ICONDRAW ICO ... An other one!
IKE ICO ... An other one!
ICONEDIT TXT ... Review of Icon Editors
ICONSOFT HOW ... How Install ICON in a Windows environment
ICONSOFT ORD ... Order form
2. INSTALLATION OF LICO20.ZIP
-----------------------------
Unzip LICO20.ZIP into the directory of your choice. Or onto a diskette.
Type LISTICO [enter] and the installation program will be automatically
initialized. If you do NOT have a specific directory where you keep your
icons and icon editors, when the installation program asks you if you wish
to create the directory ICONSOFT, follow the instructions in 2.11 below.
If you already have a directory for icons, follow the instructions in 2.12
below.
2.1 ORGANIZATION OF ICON FILES AND ICON EDITORS
-----------------------------------------------
2.11 IF YOU HAVE NOT YET ORGANIZED YOUR ICONS AND EDITORS INTO THEIR OWN
DIRECTORY
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Listico will ask you if you want to create the directory ICONSOFT, if you
do not have a single directory with all your icon editors, it is strongly
suggest that you let LISTICO create the new directory and after the
installation process, you should manually move your editors into ICONSOFT
(and make the appropriate changes within Windows if you are using WIN 3.0
and windows icon editors)
2.12 IF YOU ALREADY HAVE A SPECIAL DIRECTORY FOR YOUR ICONS AND YOUR ICON
EDITORS
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Note: It is strongly suggested that you select the directory
where you store your WINDOWS icons and copy the program there. The
installation program will MOVE all files into this directory. Also, to
launch your favorite icon editor from within Listico, it is necessary that
your editor be placed in the same directory as your icon editor itself.
Many icon collectors find it useful to create a directory called ICONS and
store all icons and icon editors within it.
2.13 TO TEST DRIVE OR TO ENTER YOUR REGISTRATION NUMBER
-------------------------------------------------------
When you start LISTICO, after the installation program is completed, the
shareware screen appears, hit enter to take LISTICO for a test drive, or,
if you have received your registration code, enter the requested
information to remove the shareware registration reminder.
Enter your registration code exactly as supplied
Then enter your phone number, including the area code, do not use the prefix
"1" before the phone number. Your area code should be entered as follows:
1112223333
Then enter your name.
3. LISTICO MS-DOS VERSION
--------------------------
3.1 USAGE:
-----------
There are several methods of running Listico, each with a specific
purpose.
To start LISTICO from DOS, if you have installed LISTICO in the directory
where you store your icons, change into that directory and type LISTICO
[enter]. LISTICO will display all icons in this directory.
If you wish to view Icons in a directory other than the directory in which
you have installed LISTICO, you must type a full path to that directory
and specify a wildcard file name. For example, to view icons in your
windows directory, type:
LISTICO C:\WINDOWS\*.ICO
To view an individual icon, if you know the name of this particular
icon, you may selectively view one icon by typing:
LISTICO FILENAME.ICO
3.2 DISPLAY RESOLUTION:
----------------------
Listico's default resolution is VGA 640x480x16. Other resolutions and
modes are available, including some super VGA modes. These are accessed by
using the switches shown in the table below:
Option: /L ... EGAM 320x200x16 0Dh
/M ... EGAM 640x200x16 0Eh
/E ... EGA 640x350x16 10h
/V ... VGA 640x480x16 12h (Default)
/P ... SVGA 800x600x16 58h (Paradise)
/T ... SVGA 800x600x16 29h (Tseng Labs)
/B ... SVGA 800x600x16 6Ah (Ahead B)
/D ... SVGA 800x600x16 5Bh (Trident)
/A ... SVGA 800x600x16 54h (ATI Wonder)
/O ... SVGA 1024x768x16 65h (ATI Wonder)
All commands can be chained; e.g., you can specify a resolution and a
specific file at the command line
LISTICO [option] filename
You can of course type a full path to a different directory. For example,
LISTICO /O C:\WINDOWS\*.ICO
would display ATI Wonder's SVGA mode (if you are so equipped) and show all
ICO files in your windows directory at this resolution.
3.3 KEYBOARD FUNCTIONS:
------------------------
While using LISTICO, you can Press F1, which shows the list of features
and hotkeys supported:
IMPORTANT NOTE: To EXIT the F1 Help Screen, strike your escape key, (or
ANY key on the keyboard) this returns you to LISTICO. You may launch your
icon editors from the F1 help screen as well by using the Alt- keys listed
below. Listico automatically launches WINDOWS to run the Windows based
icon editors. Of course, you must have Windows 3.0 to use the Windows
editors ICONDRAW and IKE, etc.
If your editor supports a command line argument (i.e., can load an
individual icon file), the file you have highlighted in LISTICO will
automatically be loaded into your editor.

with any of the supported external icon editors. Note, the icon name of
the selected icon will appear in blue, all others will appear in black.
The [Enter] key works in the following manner after you have selected the
icon editor you will use in each session:
If you decided to launch one of the icon editors supported by LISTICO
(Alt-E, Alt-I, Alt-D, Alt-K), LISTICO will remember which one you have
selected, and the next time you press Enter during the current Listico
session only, it will launch the last icon editor you have selected.
IMPORTANT NOTE:
---------------
Be sure that your icon editor program(s) are in the same directory in

4.2 FEATURE:
-------------
It's my first Windows 3.0 application. I still consider this version to be
under development. You may expect a more powerful version soon. Registered
users of LISTICO will automatically receive an upgrade to the upcoming
enhanced version.
4.3 THANK YOU TO BORLAND:
--------------------------
This Windows 3.0 application was developing using the new development
software from Borland: BORLAND C++ Version 2.0
It's a powerful and user friendly C compiler that now
supports the development of Windows 3.0 application.
Without this software, LISTICO Windows 3.0 version would not exist.
And now developing Windows applications is no longer confined
to MicroSoft developers.
Thank you, Borland!
5. Comments about older version (version 1.0):
----------------------------------------------
Listico Version 1.0 was free software. I received many requests to support
and add more feature to my initial program and to develop a Windows 3.0
version: Listico 2.0 is the result, and I am continuing to add more
features on it, specifically in the Windows 3.0 version.
In order to cover all the expense generated by the development of this
software, Listico is now distributed using the shareware concept
(try before you buy). for more info see the file ICONSOFT.ORD
