  113. INSTALLATION of the KaraDos product:
  114. -----------------------------------
  115. create a directory
  116. >mkdir c:\karados
  117. >cd c:\karados
  118.  unzip all files .
  119. > unzip or pkunzip kardp17.zip
  120. Apart for the .mid .txt .kar examples, all others
  121.   files must be kept in the same directory.
  122. Then type :
  123. > install
  124.  answer to questions, then type
  125. > ultramid  <return> (GUS only: if you want to use a gus with internal synth.)
  126. > kdir demo <return>

  128. select a mode with the <tab> key  (VERY IMPORTANT but must be Ok)
  129. select a song with the up and down arrow keys or mouse
  130. then press enter or left mouse button,
  131.  and ... sing

  134. For MPU401 or COM user configure by editing the kara.cfk file
  135. and add the line :
  136. #hd=MPU401
  137. (default address is 330h and can be changed with an environmental
  138. variable MPU401=xxx  with xxx the hexadecimal address of the MPU)
  139. (no interruption needed)

  141. For serial output:
  142. #hd=COMx (with x = 1 or 2 or 3 or 4)
  143. or use setup.exe
  144. Notice that the hanshake is done with RTS/CTS signals. The 38400
  145. bauds is too speed for midi and the external box (portman for example)
  146. has to slow down the stream.
  147. Adjust -dl for your computer

  149. For Gravis Ultrasound (standart, Max or ACE)
  150. and Sound Blaster, the detection is automatic with environmental
  151. variables ULTRASND=xxx,y,z,a,b or BLASTER=Axxx Ix Dy Ta
  152. If you have both card installed, you can choose by
  153. #hd=GUS  or
  154. #hd=SB

  158. Note for GUS users with ultramid

  160. ultramid may be activated with
  161. > ultramid -16
  162. for using patches in 16 bits.
  163. For speed reasons the use of ram disk is recommended.
  164. Some "heavy" midi files with many program changes may slow down the
  165. song while loaded (mainly with the 16 bits choice). Don't know what to do.
  166. Don't forget to remove ultramid with

  171. Before loading kdir, load the ameblast driver

  180. Minimal Requirement:

  182. - CGA, EGA or VGA 256k  (.bgi drivers)

  188. The KaraDos product is from  1.1 version a shareware
  189. and only for a private usage.
