  72. This package contains Infodex (TM) by Stevenson Technical Services, Inc.
  73. (STSI).  This document contains only a brief description of the package
  74. and its features, along with instructions for its installation. Quite
  75. detailed documentation is included in the package, but it is in archived
  76. form, and is more easily read after installation.

  85. Infodex is a shareware program. You may use it for up to 2 weeks,
  86. without charge (see INFODEX.DOC for more details).  If you like the
  87. program, and wish to continue its use after this evaluation period, you
  88. are required to pay for the program (see REGISTER.DOC for more details).

  110. ===== Installation =====================================
  111.  
  112. The installation procedure for Infodex is quite simple.  The package
  113. includes a program, "INSTALL.EXE", which automates the entire process.
  114. You will need about 1 megabyte of available disk space on the hard drive
  115. on which you plan to install Infodex.
  116.  
  117. The exact steps you need to take will depend on how you received
  118. Infodex.
  119.

  121. INSTALLING FROM DISKETTES
  122.  
  123. To install from diskette(s), you need to perform the following steps.
  124.  
  125. 1. Place Infodex distribution diskette "Disk 1" in the appropriate
  126.    diskette drive.
  127.  
  128. 2. Execute the "INSTALL.EXE" program on the distribution
  129.    diskette.  For example, if the distribution diskette is on
  130.    drive A:, type the MS-DOS command, "a:install".
  131.  
  132. 3. Follow the instructions presented by the installation program. You
  133.    will have a chance to approve installation before any changes are
  134.    actually made to the contents of your hard drive. The program will
  135.    ask you for a destination directory, and will copy the Infodex files
  136.    to that directory.  If you received Infodex on two diskettes, you
  137.    will need to insert Disk 2 in the diskette drive when asked to do so.
  138.    If you so direct it, the installation program will install executable
  139.    programs and documentation in other directories of your choice.

  142. INSTALLING FROM A HARD DRIVE
  143.  
  144. If you downloaded Infodex from a BBS (or received it in the form of
  145. archive files from some other source), you will need to perform the
  146. following steps.
  147.  
  148. 1. Extract the contents of the archive file(s) in a temporary
  149.    directory on your hard drive.  The procedure for doing this
  150.    varies, depending on the form in which you received the
  151.    package. In all likelihood, the fact that you are reading
  152.    this text means that you already have the necessary tools and
  153.    knowledge to perform this step.  If not, you should be able
  154.    to obtain directions for this from the same source from which
  155.    you received the package.

  158. 2. Execute the "INSTALL.EXE" program which you have extracted.
  159.    For example, if the temporary directory into which you have
  160.    extracted the files is C:\TEMPDIR, you would execute the MS-DOS
  161.    command, "c:\tempdir\install".
  162.  
  163. 3. Follow the instructions presented by the installation
  164.    program. You will have a chance to approve installation before any
  165.    changes are actually made to the contents of your hard drive.  The

  171. When you're satisfied that the installation was successful, you should
  172. delete the temporary directory FROM which you installed the program,
  173. (C:\TEMPDIR, in the above discussion), including all its contents.

  176. YOU'RE READY TO GO

  178. Once you've complete the installation, you should consult the documents
  179. (filename extension "doc") which have been installed.  In particular,
  180. read at least the "Installation" section of the file INFODEX.DOC. That
  181. document will tell you how to invoke the program, and will give you
  182. other information you need to properly evaluate Infodex.  We hope you
