Keyboard Navigator is an enhanced replacement for the Character Map accessory which comes with Windows 95/98. With Keyboard Navigator, you can view all of the characters of any font on your system all at once. Keyboard Navigator allows you to view your fonts in many different sizes, styles, and colors. It will give you a better idea of how your document will look and what your options are before selecting a font or character for your document. You can also see the keystroke(s) necessary to enter the character and you can see the character's ASCII code.
How to Install Keyboard Navigator

Simply double-click on the Setup.exe icon and follow the instructions.
IMPORTANT: If you downloaded a previous version of Keyboard Navigator and never registered it, you may get a message saying that the program has expired. If this happens, send me an e-mail at KKelly@Premier.net with your first and last name and I'll send you a code to unlock this new version of the software for a 14 day trial.
How to use Keyboard Navigator

Point to any character or symbol in the grid and click the mouse button. At the bottom of the window, you will see the keystrokes necessary to enter the character or symbol and the character's ASCII code. If you double-click on the character or symbol, it will be entered into the box at the top of the window. You can press any combination of the bold, italic, and underline buttons to see the effect on the entire character set. You can press the font color button and see your fonts in any color that your system will support. If you like, you can press the copy button to have the characters or symbols in the text box copied to the clipboard. You can then paste them into your word processing or other document in the font, size, style, and color that you previously selected.
Some programs, such as a simple text editor, will not support such features and you will get only the plain text when you paste into these documents. Also, some word processors only support a limited number of font colors and you may find that the results look slightly different than they did in Keyboard Navigator. However, the colors are usually fairly close.
What's New in Version 2.0

We've added nearly every Customer-requested feature to this version of Keyboard Navigator and we hope that you like it. This upgrade is free to registered customers of version 1.0. Just enter the same registration name and code that you used for the previous version.
╖ Improved Interface: Keyboard Navigator 2.0 has two floating dockable toolbars similar to those in Office 97 instead of one fixed toolbar as version 1.0 had. The toolbar on the right can be docked to the left or right side of the window as well as to the top or bottom. Which ever you prefer. The toolbar on the left can only be docked to the top or bottom of the window.
╖ Printing: The program can now print a table of any font you choose. It will also print the keystroke(s) necessary to enter special characters such as ⌐ underneath each character. Just press the print button. (Note to European Customers: I do not have access to an A4 printer. Please let me know if it does not print properly on A4 paper.) Also, some fonts greater than about 24 points may tend to overlap the keystroke codes. The program will remind you of this before printing larger font sizes. We've tried to make the whole table print on one sheet of paper.
╖ Font Comparison: You can now compare as many fonts as you wish by pressing the font comparison button. Any time you change fonts or font size a sample of standard characters is added to the font comparison view. You can also print this view by pressing the print button if you wish. You can return to the grid view by pressing the font comparison button again. It toggles between the two views. While in the font comparison view, you can right-click the mouse button over the view and see a pop up menu which allows you to show more (or less) sample characters in this view. You can also clear the entire view from this menu.
╖ Background Color: Now, in addition to being able to change font color in the grid view, you can also change the color of the background to get an idea of how certain color combinations will look in a graphics or web-design program.
We've also removed the exit button since it was redundant. You just have to hit the window close button to exit.
How to Register Keyboard Navigator

Try Keyboard Navigator for free for 30 days. If you decide to keep it, you simply license the software by paying a registration fee of $10. Press the About button near the top of Keyboard NavigatorÆs window and then press the "How to Register" tab on the dialog box.
