  3.   We were so naive as to the
  4. dangers space held. From the
  5. Earth, one can see little of
  6. the rest of the galaxy, much
  7. less the universe.
  8.   The first ship equiped with
  9. the flux drive changed all
  10. that, though most wish it
  11. hadn't.
  12.   The universe is not as it
  13. seems from the Earth, after
  14. all. There are strange things
  15. happening there... and it is
  16.  
  17.  
  18. not as empty as it may seem.
  19. Actually, the universe, in
  20. places, is made up of terrain
  21. not unlike that of Earth,
  22. while totally `new' substances
  23. make up the rest of it.
  24.   Sorry, I know I ramble on,
  25. but this needs to be known.
  26. Well, the first ship, dubbed
  27. Nejillian Flux, after the man
  28. who invented the flux drive,
  29. Myran Nejillian, was sent out
  30. as a probe, but it was at-
  31. tacked and nearly destroyed by
  32.  
  33.  
  34. some strange beings.
  35.   The crew were picked up just
  36. before their air began to run
  37. out by a passing `scooter'.
  38.   The pilot was not from
  39. Earth, yet he appeared to be
  40. human. I don't know the story
  41. behind this, but it would
  42. probably make an interesting
  43. novel.
  44.   Now, the crew have to try to
  45. get back home, but without the
  46. flux drive, who knows where
  47. they'll turn up??
