  13. - Robot Battle should be placed in its own directory

  15. - If you obtained Robot Battle in a compressed format (ie .zip)
  16.   uncompress the game in its own directory
  17.  
  18. - Robot Battle requires no further installation

  20. - Start Windows and run the game, it is called "winrob.exe"

  22. - Once the game starts, press the NEW button to load your robots

  24. - After you select your robots, hit the START button and you are playing

  33. Welcome to Robot Battle 1.3. Version 1.3 maintains 100% compatibility with
  34. all previous Robot Battle versions. This version was created primarily to
  35. update information about Robot Battle's new Internet presence. Robot Battle
  36. now has its own domain on the Internet with an associated WWW Home Page,
  37. FTP Site, and Mailing List. A few bugs have also been fixed in version 1.3.

  51. Can you design a robot to best all challengers? To survive, your robot
  52. must have better tactics, intelligence, and adaptability than all others.
  53. Can you out think and out gun your opponents? This is the place to find out!
  54. Build a robot and match your wits against up to five other robots in head
  55. to head battles to the death. Watch your ANIMATED robots come to life with
  56. stunning sound effects in matches of 1 to 65,500 games.

  58. Robot creation starts by dreaming. How can your robot stay alive in an
  59. open arena with five other deadly robots hunting it down?  How can you
  60. find and destroy the enemy before they find you?  Of course the only way
  61. to answer these questions is trial by fire. Build a few robots and watch
  62. them get crushed by the simple sample robots provided with this game.
  63. Eventually, you will be able to match wits with other skilled robot
  64. designers.

  66. If you are up to the challenge, enter your robots in the CONTEST. Send in
  67. your robots to compete in a tournament against robots written by others 
  68. from all over the world.

  73. Robots are created using a simple scripting language that is clearly 
  74. described in on-line help. All you need is an ASCII text editor and an
  75. imagination. Although helpful, no previous programming knowledge is
  76. required. In fact, Robot Battle is a great way to start learning how to
  77. program. Most modern computer systems are based on event driven techniques
  78. very similar to those you will learn playing Robot Battle.

  80. To learn more about designing your own robots, start the game and click
  81. the help button. When the help dialog opens chose the 'Help Creating Robots'
  82. option then press OK. This will start on-line help that explains how to
  83. design robots. The on-line help is fully cross-referenced very easy to
  84. use.

  86. Most of the information provided in on-line help is also provided in a DOS
  87. text file called 'manual.txt'. This file is provided for printing. It 
  88. contains information about designing robots, a commented sample robot, 
  89. descriptions of all scripting language functions and variables, and tips 
  90. and techniques.
