  23. This file contains updates to the  NetWare Client 32 for Windows 95, including:

  27. providing full DHCP and PPP support.
  28.  4.  Updates to the print provider.
  29.  5.  An ACU SETUP.EXE that eliminates the need for human intervention during an
  30. ACU install.
  31.  6.  Updates to CLIENT32.NLM.
  32.  7.  NIOS.VXD that fixes DOS based INT 17 application printing problems.
  33.  8.  DLLs that include the SEND functionality from the provider.

  45. ISSUE: 
  46.  
  47. C3295D.EXE contains the latest files and patches for the NetWare Client 32 for
  48. Windows 95.
  49.  
  50.  This readme contains a listing of the features added and the main problems
  51. fixed by the files contained in C3295D.EXE. The problems are listed under the
  52. module the problem was fixed by:
  53.  
  54.  GROUP POLICIES
  55.  The NetWare Client 32 for Windows 95 now supports Group Policies.  Refer to
  56. the Windows 95 Resource Kit for instructions on how to implement.

  59.  SEND FUNCTIONALITY
  60.  From the Network Neighborhood, right click on the desired server and choose
  61. the SEND MESSAGE option.  A list of users will appear.  Type the message you
  62. want to send and select the user(s) that you want to send the message to. 
  63. Press Send to distribute the message to the selected users.

  66.  UNINSTALL UTILITY
  67.  The UNC32.EXE utility will remove the NetWare Client 32 for Windows 95 from a
  68. Windows 95 workstation.

  71.  AUTOMATIC CLIENT UPDATE SETUP
  72.  1-  The changes made to SETUP.EXE will remove the screens at the beginning of
  73. the process and the reboot message that require manual intervention.  The ACU
  74. Setup is provided to automatically upgrade and setup a group of clients to use
  75. the NetWare Client 32 for Windows 95. 
  76.  The changes are controlled with the following parameters contained in the
  77. NWSETUP.INI file provided in C3295D.EXE.  (Fixed 3/11/96)

  96.  CLIENT32.NLM
  97.  Note:  The major problems that have been fixed are identified.  This list does
  98. not represent every problem that was addressed in this file.
  99.  1-  During execution of Beyond Mail (BMailw.exe) the following error message
  100. is displayed:  Error: "You have insufficient rights to read the public
  101. rule/form database."  It also fixes the problem that caused the following error
  102. in Beyond Mail: "This users inbox is already in use."
  103.  2-  Application called "ProSystem for Windows" that uses "Ramia Data Base" 
  104. returns error message:  Error:"CTX_BXERROR-906 unable to get access to taf
  105. file.  Load share and retry"
  106.  3-  Dos TSR using 78K memory when it should only use  4K of memory.
  107.  4-  Lock - Unlock and reacquiring a lock fails with error code 162.
  108.  5-  Microsoft Access.  Error: Couldn't open file <path> SYSTEM.MDA..
  109.  6-  Timeslip application causes machine hang.
  110.  7-  Peachtree application causes machine hang
  111.  8-  During execution of "Lacerte Income Tax Program" the following error
  112. message is displayed Error: "Program has performed an illegal operation"
  113.  9-  Garbage is printed when printing from a dos application when using "Set
  114. Specific Capture Flags" and reply buffer length is greater than 45.
  115.  10-  Menu application called ODBS would always return to the initial menu
  116. screen instead of the menu that it was called from.
  117.  11-  Timeout parameter not working with DOS Capture.
  118.  12-  Environment variables not being passed to DOS during the login process.
  119.  13-  Solves problems related to corruption in various databases and mail
  120. programs (i.e. CC:Mail) dealing with opportunistic locking.
  121.  14-   Fixes problems with QBASIC programs failing to capture LPT2 or LPT3. 
  122. DOS Error 68 is returned
  123.  15-  Fixes issues related to applications sending garbage to various output
  124. devices (printer, screen, file, etc.) from a DOS box.

  136.  NOVPP32.DLL
  137.  1-  This file fixes a printer offline error message that appears when trying
  138. to access a network printer from within the Printer Wizard when a tree and a
  139. server on the network have the same name.  In the properties for the defined
  140. printer, the printer name should start with a leading "." (default syntax if
  141. the printer is selected by using the browsing process).  If the printer name is
  142. manually typed in, make sure that the leading "." exists, i.e.
  143. \\<servername>\<.printer.ou.o>.  (Fixed 3/5/96)
  144.  2-  NOVPP32.DLL changed the way that the DLL was loaded.  Previous to this
  145. version of NOVPP32.DLL, if the network was not yet available when Windows 95
  146. loaded NOVPP32, the DLL just didn't load.  Now NOVPP32 will load regardless of
  147. whether the network has been completely initialized.  (Fixed 3/25/96)
  148.  3-  This version will not abort the job if the printer handle is closed by
  149. Windows 95 before the job is closed.
  150.  4-  The PRTWIN32.DLL file is included to support calls made by NOVPP32.DLL
  151.

  153.  NWIP95.NLM
  154.  This new NWIP95.NLM provides full DHCP and PPP functionality for NetWare/IP
  155. for Client 32 for Windows 95.

  158.  NIOS.VXD
  159.  This change to NIOS.VXD will solve a problem that causes the error:  "There
  160. was an error writing to LPT1 for the printer <PrinterName>.  The printer is not
  161. ready. Make sure it is turned on and online.  To continue printing click retry. 
  162. Windows will automatically retry after 5 seconds"
  163.  Many TSRs available call the int 17 function directly to print.  This version
  164. of NIOS.VXD was modified to handle all direct int 17 calls.

  195. Note: Always make a backup of files replaced in the patch process.

  197.  GROUP POLICIES
  198.  In order for Group Policies to work with Novell's Windows 95 client, the
  199. Windows Group Policy DLL, GROUPPOL.DLL must be installed on each client.  Group
  200. Policy instructions are in the Windows 95 Resource Kit.
  201.  To install support for Group Polices and Client32, run the INSTALL.EXE progam
  202. contained in the group policies directory.  This will copy the NetWare Group
  203. Policy DLL, NWGROUP.DLL, to the client's Windows\System directory.  It will
  204. also create a string value in the Windows 95 registry.
  205.  The value is located under the key:
  206.  HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\
  207.  Services\NOVELLNP\NetworkProvider
  208.  The value name is:  GroupFcn
  209.  The string value is:  NWGROUP.DLL,NWGetUserGroups
  210.  NOTE:  The install.exe program will only install the group policy support.

  213.  UNINSTALL UTILITY
  214.  1.  Place the files in the UNINSTAL directory in a subdirectory on your hard
  215. drive and run UNC32.EXE.

  218.  UPDATES TO THE PRINT PROVIDER
  219.  1-  Make a backup of the NOVPP32.DLL in the Windows 95\system subdirectory.
  220.  2-  Copy the NOVPP32.DLL in this file to the Windows 95\system subdirectory
  221.  3-  Copy the PRTWIN32.DLL from this file to the Windows 95\system subdirectory
  222.  4-  Reboot your workstation for the change to be in effect

  225.  CLIENT32.NLM
  226.  1-  Make a backup of the CLIENT32.NLM in the novell\client32\ subdirectory.
  227.  2-  Copy the CLIENT32.NLM in this file to the novell\client32\ subdirectory.
  228.  3-  Reboot your workstation for the change to be in effect

  231.  AUTOMATIC CLIENT UPDATE
  232.  NOTE:  The setup utility contained in this patch is not an installation
  233. utility for this patch.  The SETUP.EXE is an update for the Automatic Client
  234. Update process.  For more information on the ACU process, please refer to the
  235. Online help for more information.  The SETUP.EXE included in this file will
  236. uninstall the existing Client and unless you have access to the Client 32
  237. installation files, you will be left without a client installed.  SETUP.EXE was
  238. renamed to SETUP.EX in order to reduce the chance that an administrator would
  239. attempt to install the patch without reading the readme.
  240.  1.  Make a backup of the SETUP.EXE and NWSETUP.INI files in the Client 32's
  241. \ENGLISH subdirectory.
  242.  2-  In the directory where this file was extracted, in the ACUSETUP
  243. subdirectory, rename the SETUP.EX to SETUP.EXE
  244.  3-  Copy the SETUP.EXE and NWSETUP.INI from the \ACUSETUP directory of this
  245. file to the Client 32 \ENGLISH subdirectory.
  246.  4-  Run SETUP /ACU for the new Automatic Client Update Setup process to be
  247. run.  Please refer to the Windows 95 Online help (Start | Help | Novell NetWare
  248. Client 32 | Installing | Option 4: Automatic Client Update for more information
  249. concerning the ACU process.

  253.  1.  Backup your current NWIP95.NLM in the C:\NOVELL\CLIENT32 directory.
  254.  2.  Copy the included NWIP95.NLM to the C:\NOVELL\CLIENT32 directory.
  255.  3.  Reboot your workstation for these new features to take effect.

  259.  1.  Rename the NIOS.VXD in the \windows\system directory to NIOS.ORG.
  260.  2.  Copy the NIOS.VXD contained in this file to the windows\system directory.

  265.  1.  Backup your current IPX.NLM in the C:\NOVELL\CLIENT32 directory.
  266.  2.  Copy the included IPX.NLM to the C:\NOVELL\CLIENT32 directory.

  271.  1-  Make a backup of the NOVELLNP.DLL in the Windows95\system subdirectory.

  274.  3-  Copy NOVELLNP.DLL in this file to the Windows95\system subdirectory
  275.  4-  Copy NOVELNPR.DLL in this file to the Windows95\nls\english subdirectory

  279.  NOTE:  Some of the files may be in use by Windows 95 during the upgrade
  280. process.  If this happens, restart the workstation in MSDOS mode and copy the
  281. files to the directories detailed in this file.
