  6. Installation Notes
  7. ------------------
  8.  
  9. To install NovaBack for Windows 95, run the file "SETUP.EXE" from the
  10. installation diskette.  Click on Start, then run, then simply type:
  11.  
  12.         a:\setup        (If your 3.5" floppy drive is assigned as
  13.                          disk a:)
  14. or
  15.         b:\setup        (If your 3.5" floppy drive is assigned as
  16.                          disk b:)
  17.  
  18. To install from CD, run the file "SETUPWIN.EXE" from the root
  19. directory of your CD. 
  20.  
  21. Files are compressed, so the setup program MUST be run for a
  22. successful installation.

  74. * NOTE ABOUT INI FILES *

  76. NovaBack uses INI files to save program configuration in between
  77. sessions.  You should never have to use (manually edit/change)
  78. these files except in the following cases:
  79.  
  80. NovaBoot and Multiple OS Partition Warning
  81. ------------------------------------------
  82. The NovaBoot Utility provides for disaster recovery for the active
  83. operating system at the time of backup. It is used to recover 
  84. files that are "visible" at the time of backup. Though this may
  85. seem obvious, it is important to know that if you have your
  86. hard disk(s) partitioned to include other operating systems and
  87. files that are not accessible for backup, then these also cannot
  88. be recovered with the use of NovaBoot. In short, NovaBoot does NOT  
  89. provide strict image recovery (sector by sector data restoration).

  92.         CD-ROM DRIVES and REMOVABLE MEDIA
  93.  
  94.                 By default, NovaBack does not recognize the presence
  95.                 of removable media devices (it will never recognize the
  96.                 presence of the floppy drives A: or B:).  If you want
  97.                 NovaBack to recognize the presence of CD-ROM drives and
  98.                 other media that the program detects as removable,
  99.                 make the following change in NOVABACK.INI file.
  100.                   The NOVABACK.INI file may be found in the same
  101.                   subdirectory that the NovaBack program was installed
  102.                   to.  If you do not find a NOVABACK.INI file, simply
  103.                   run the application, from the main menu of NovaBack,
  104.                   select "Options" then select "Save Options".  This
  105.                   simple process will save your session settings into
  106.                   the NOVABACK.INI file.
  107.  
  108.                 Now, edit the NOVABACK.INI file and toward the bottom
  109.                 you will see the following section:
  110.                 
  111.                         [Misc. Options]
  112.                         save temporary files = OFF
  113.                         ignore removable media=ON
  114.                         run atuo test = OFF
  115.  
  116.                 To allow NovaBack to report removable media, change the
  117.                 second line.  After making the change, this is what the
  118.                 new NOVABACK.INI file should look like:

  129.            information associated with Microsoft Windows 95.  No special
  130.            settings or parameters need to be defined.
