1. Installation Notes
---------------------
To install CDCC, please extract the supplied archive (either .ZIP or
self-extracting .EXE) into an empty directory.
NB: If you have already installed CD Control Centre 2.00 or below, please
install in a new directory and then copy CDCC.DAT from the old one (the
CDCC.INI files are not compatible).
This version of the CD Control Centre requires Microsoft's Visual Basic 4.0
Runtime files. As many users will have already installed these with other
applications, they are not supplied in this package. However, they can be
obtained from most bulletin boards and FTP sites that supply Windows
software, including:
ftp://ftp.winsite.com/pub/pc/win95/miscutil
or ftp://src.doc.ic.ac.uk/computing/packages/ibmpc/windows95/miscutil
(this is a much faster site if you are in the UK)
There are two versions available: vb4run16.exe for 16-bit platforms, and
vb4run32.exe for 32-bit platforms. CDCC is available in only as a 32-bit
application for version 2.10 and above. If you obtained your copy of the CD
Control Centre on disk, please contact your distributor for a copy of the VB4
Runtime files.
Launch Windows (NT, 95 or 3.xx), and install the 32-bit version of the
VB4 Runtime files if necessary. Then, run SETUP.EXE. Please note that the
32-bit version has not yet been tested under win32s. After running the SETUP
program, follow the on-screen instructions. It is recommended that you use
Express Setup, and that you install all of the optional components (they
aren't very big).
All documentation has now been included into the main CDCC.HLP file. Please
read the introduction to this file (it can be accessed by double-clicking the
"CDCC Documentation" icon in Program Manager, or by pressing F1 on any CDCC
window).
Once installed, do NOT delete the Setup icon (if it has been created), as it
can be used to reconfigure the CD Control Centre later, including sound card
support.
Please remember that you can press F1 at any time for online help, and DO
read the documentation, as you will miss many of the features of the CDCC
otherwise.
2. Note for Panasonic / Creative Labs CD-ROM drive users
--------------------------------------------------------
Due to a bug in the device driver interface to these cards and MCI.VBX, the
CD Control Centre may have a problem with these drives under Windows 3.1 and
3.11 (no problems have been reported under Windows 95 or NT). Please read the
Troubleshooting section of the documentation for more information.
I hope that you enjoy using the CD Control Centre!
