  5. Fund Manager is a portfolio management application designed
  6. for the individual investor.

  8. An overview, as well as all the documentation for Fund
  9. Manager, is available via on-line help from inside the
  10. application.

  13. simply click on any of the sample icons created by the
  14. installation program.

  20. Fund Manager is also available for Windows 3.1.  The Win95
  21. and Windows 3.1 versions use the same data format, so they

  39. Select "Start" and then "Run..." from the Win95 desktop.
  40. Run the program "install.exe".

  45. UPGRADE INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS

  48. If you already have a previous version of Fund Manager
  49. on your computer you can install this newer version
  50. directly over your old version.  During installation,
  51. specify the directory where your current version is
  52. located (eg. c:\finance).  Your old version of Fund Manager
  53. will be overwritten.  New samples will be installed in the
  54. samples sub-directory.

  57. NOTICE TO USERS OF FUND MANAGER FOR WINDOWS 3.1
  58. ***********************************************************

  60. Fund Manager for Win95 uses the same data format as 
  61. Fund Manager for Windows 3.1.  If you choose to do so,
  62. you may use both versions to operate on the same data
  63. interchangeably.  
  64.  
  65. Caveats:
  66. The data format for the Windows 3.1 versions was changed
  67. between some of the major version releases.  All 8.x
  68. versions of Fund Manager for Windows 3.1 use the latest
  69. data format that is compatible with the Win95 data format.
  70. If you are using a Windows 3.1 version prior to 8.0, the
  71. Win95 version can read the data.  After the data are read
  72. and saved to the newer format with the Win95 version, they 
  73. can't be directly read with the older Windows 3.1 version.
  74. If necessary, you can use "Export - Fund Manager" from
  75. within the Win95 version to generate the older data format.

  78. REGISTRATION INSTRUCTIONS

  81. Fund Manager (copyright 1993-5 by Mark Beiley) is a shareware
  82. application.  If, after a reasonable period, you decide
  83. that you find Fund Manager useful and plan to continue to
  84. use it, please register with the author.

  86. You may use the file "register.txt" or the registration
  87. form included in the online help to register.  A printable
  88. manual may be ordered on the registration form.  The
  89. manual is identical to the on-line help, but you may order
  90. the manual in either a Microsoft Word or plain ascii text
  91. file format.  This will allow you to print out the entire
  92. manual for easier reading.  The manual may either be
  93. mailed on diskette through the mail, or sent elec-
  94. tronically.  The cost to receive the manual on diskette is
  95. $5.00.  The cost to receive the manual electronically is
  96. $2.00, but is only available if you have provided either a
  97. CompuServe or America Online user ID on your registration
  98. form.  If you choose to order the manual please specify
  99. which data format you prefer: Microsoft Word 2.0 for
  100. Windows or plain text.

  135. You will be sent a registration letter, which includes a
  136. name, serial number, and password combination to be 
  137. entered into Fund Manager.  This information will enable
  138. the registered version of Fund Manager.  If you have provided
  139. an electronic mail address the letter will be sent to the
  140. specified address.  Otherwise, a letter will be sent through
  141. the US mail.

  143. All registered users are entitled to 3 years of free
  144. technical support from the author.  Mark Beiley may be
  145. reached by either US mail, telephone, or electronic mail at
  146. the addresses and number listed above.

  148. Three free sets of historical prices (excluding S/H).
  149. Registered users also have the option to purchase additional
  150. price data sets.  See the Price Order Form in the online help.

  203. DEFINITION OF SHAREWARE
  204. ***********************************************************

  206. Shareware distribution gives users a chance to try software
  207. before buying it. If you try a Shareware program and
  208. continue using it, you are expected to register. Individual
  209. programs differ on details -- some request registration
  210. while others require it, some specify a maximum trial
  211. period. With registration, you get anything from the simple
  212. right to continue using the software to an updated program
  213. with printed manual.
