Welcome to PowerCalc!
I created PowerCalc out of a need for a good calculator program that is
powerful, simple, compact, and easy to use. Of course, powerful really
meant that PowerCalc needed to use RPN. When I created PowerCalc, I took
all the features that I use often on my HP48SX(tm) scientific expandable RPN
calculator, and integrated most of the same functionality in PowerCalc. Then I
modifed their operation so that they take advantage of the interactive controls
that are available under windows.
One of the things that I concentrated on with PowerCalc is convienience: the most
common calculations that I do are very easy indeed. On an 800x600 screen, powercalc
is thin enough that you can leave it on the desktop and still fit another application
on your desktop and not have to squint.
I didn't ingegrate a lot of very complex functions into PowerCalc, because there are
lots of spreadsheets and other programs that will do a wonderful job with very complicated
formulas and large chunks of data. PowerCalc is meant to be a tool for quick calculations,
and has all of the functionality to do them quickly and efficiently. I used PowerCalc for
a couple of months before graduating it to shareware, and found it very satisfactory.
PowerCalc is written using Visual Basic 4.0. I've tried to shave down the file sizes
as much as possible. If PowerCalc doesn't work because you don't have a runtime file
such as vb40032.dll on your system, visit my web site below and get them. A full
install set is also available, which will guarantee that you have all the files necessary,
but will take a bit longer to download. PowerCalc is compiled for 32 bit Windows
platforms ONLY (i.e., Windows 95 and Windows NT ). 16 bit versions are not planned
unless there is demand for them.
PowerCAlc is my first shareware product, and I would greatly appreciate any comments,
suggestions, and feedback you might have about it. I'm planning on adding some
features that users feel would be helpful, as well as fixing any problems that come up
with this version.
