Introduction:
Tray Explore v1.00 was written as freeware for use by those that intend
to use this software for personal use. I had seen other small applications
out there that do about the same thing as Tray Explore does, but they had
either messy interfaces, ugly icons, and would not let you specify how
you would like for Windows Explorer to be run: Normal, Minimized, or
Maximized. Therefore, I created Tray Explore so that I could have an
application with all of the attributes that I was looking for. This program
has grown to be so useful that I have placed it specifically in my Windows
registry so that it will run every time I turn on my computer.
Version 1.10 was written to fix a couple of bugs which prevented a number
of people from being able to successfully run Tray Explore due to
misconfigurations with their windows setup.
Version 1.30 significantly made it possible for everyone who owns and
operates a computer with Windows 95 to be able to have Tray Explore run
correctly on their system. In the past, many people have installed
Windows 95 into a different directory other than \Windows\ and Tray Explore
versions 1.00 and 1.10 looked in that directory for explorer.exe; version
1.30 is compatible with any Windows 95 system directory. In other words,
a major bug has been fixed! Also, due to the work of having to create a
shortcut and manually place it in the startup menu or running an installation
program which does this, I added a "run Tray Explore on startup" feature so
that only a check box will tell Tray Explore whether or not to run upon
startup of Windows. Let's not leave out those people who wanted to run
Windows Explorer with parameters; Tray Explore is now able to do this!
Features of v1.00:
+ Places icon in the System Tray
+ Left click the icon to run Windows Explorer
+ Right click the icon for a simple popup menu
+ Place in your Startup Folder so it will always be available!
+ You choose how you want Explorer to be run
Added/Fixed in v1.10:
+ Fixed "File Not Found" bug
+ Fixed configuration problems with ini file
+ Tray Explorer will now work if run in a different drive than
where your Windows folder is located
Added/Fixed in v1.30:
+ Fixed bug concerning locating the "windows" directory; Tray Explore
now automatically finds your system directory and runs Windows
Explorer from there.
+ Added Parameters Option where you may run explorer via Tray Explore
with any known parameters that you wish to use
+ Tray Explore now runs a little faster than before due to a decrease
in programming code
+ Startup option added so that you can choose whether or not you want for
Tray Explore to automatically run as if it were in the Startup Menu
Closing Comments:
I could never charge anyone for what I do on the side as a hobby, so
no registration fee or price tag is attached to this product. Please have
fun with this program. You may find it very useful because with it, you
can easily access windows explorer via Tray Explore with just the left
click of a mouse button. Also, please feel free to distribute this program
among your friends. It would be greatly appreciated that you would Email
me if you enjoy this program. Any feedback is always good to hear!
