TAFKAP CURSOR PACK IS NPG-WARE!
This means, if you wish to show gratitude for having these cursors, pursue
one or more of the following avenues:
* E-mail the author! I would love to hear your comments.
* Join the NPG! No, I don't mean subscribe to the magazine, I mean practice
tolerance, love and open-mindedness. Making love and music's the only
things we're fighting for....
* Hang out with us online. Alt.Music.Prince is a great place to start. Or
try <http://morra.et.tudelft.nl/npn> and <http://www.thedawn.com/> See
you there!
*****************************************************
WHAT'S NEW IN VERSION 2?
* There are 2 new animated pointers and 7 new static pointers. (See below)
* The annoying little white dot on the spinning cursor (PSPIN.ANI) has been
fixed.
* I added PPOINT2.CUR, so the regular arrow could be used, but the point
will still show up on a black background.
*****************************************************
These are the Windows 95 and NT cursors for fans of the Artist Formerly
Known As Prince. There are 5 animated cursors, and 11 static cursors, all
based on the symbol which the artist formerly known as Prince (nee' Rogers
Nelson) adopted as his name on June 7, 1993. Two of the new cursors are
based on the logo for NPG Records.
These have not been tested with the Microsoft Mouse Intellipoint software,
but they may work with that software as well. If they do, please e-mail me!
(See above.) Unless the Intellipoint software does work, to the best of my
knowledge, THESE CURSORS DON'T WORK UNDER WINDOWS 3.1 OR WINDOWS FOR
WORKGROUPS 3.11. I'm sorry, but older versions of Windows don't support
different cursors or pointers. Same goes for OS/2, Macintosh, the various
flavors of Unix, Commodore 64, Atari 2600, and any other platform you want
to use-- no dice.
These cursors are provided as-is, with no warranties either expressed or
implied. I hope these work for you. I can't imagine they could cause you or
your computer system any problems if you have Windows NT 3.5x or Windows 95.
However, I haven't tested these on your system, and I can't be responsible
for idiosyncrasies of your system.
For help with animated cursors, consult your Windows 95/NT documentation, or
the appropriate areas of the Microsoft Network, Compuserve, America Online,
or the Internet. I frequent most of these areas. Two common causes of
difficulty with animated cursors under Windows 95 are:
(1) They require a fully-32-bit disk subsystem. If you are using a real-mode
legacy driver for an old drive, especially an old SCSI drive as your main hard
drive, these won't work.
(2) They require (AT LEAST!) a 256-color driver appropriate for your computer's
video adapter.
Consult Microsoft, your PC vendor, your hard disk vendor, or your video card
vendor, as appropriate, for help with these technical things.
*****************************************************
These are the files (in alphabetical order) that make up the TAFKAP Cursor
Pack, v2.0, stored in POINTERS.ZIP. They are followed by my suggested use for
each pointer, but don't let that limit their use to you-- do what you like with
them.
PAPP.ANI - Application Start (Used when a background task is running)
PDISAPP.ANI - Alternate Hourglass (Instead of PSPIN.ANI)
PHELP.CUR - Help Arrow (When getting context-sensitive help)
PLEFT.CUR - Alternate Select (Upper-right pointing arrow, or primary
pointer for lefties)
PNODROP.CUR - Unavailable (Indicates action, such as drag-n-drop, can't be
performed)
PPOINT.CUR - Default Arrow (Upper-left pointing arrow , or alternate select
for lefties)
PSPIN.ANI - Default Hourglass (Spins, may cause motion sickness)
NPG.CUR* - NPG Logo Cursor (You could use this for a pointer)
NPG.ANI* - NPG Logo (Flashes, makes an good hourglass)
PDISAPP2.ANI* - Anpther disappearing cursor, show reverse of background color.
PGREEN.CUR* - Same as PPOINT.CUR, but dark green in color.
PGREY.CUR* - Same as PPOINT.CUR, but light grey in color.
PPOINT2.CUR* - Same as PPOINT.CUR, but the point of the arrow is in reverse
color, for people who couldn't use the black arrow.
PWHITE.CUR* - Same as PPOINT.CUR, but white color.
PRED.CUR* - Same as PPOINT.CUR, but guess what color it is!
PREVERSE.CUR* - This one is cool, it's the same as PPOINT.CUR, but shows the
reverse of whatever color is under it.
Note: .ANI extension indicates animated cursor, .CUR indicates static cursor.
* Indicates new in this release.
*****************************************************
I used short file names for these files so that anyone could use them without
problems or confusion. I wish I could have used long file names, but these ain't
Macs, after all... :D Also, Win95 stores schemes in the registry, so I couldn't
include the recommended scheme in this ZIP file. You should be able to figure it
all out easily enough.
The reason there is no gold-colored pointer is because there are only 16 colors
to choose from when making pointers, and gold ain't one of 'em. Sorry.
Cursors are changed through the Control Panel. In Windows 95, it's Start/
Settings/Control Panel/Mouse/Pointers. In NT, it's Control Panel/Cursors. The
easiest way to use these is to copy them into your Win NT directory or your
Windows 95\Cursors directory, and assign your scheme from there.

The author would like to gratefully acknowledge the influence, music, courage,
and character of the Artist Formerly Known As Prince. My love for O(+> is why
these cursors exist, after all.
Also, much props to everyone involved with the NPN, Paisley Park Mailing List,
and Alt.Music.Prince on the 'Net. Special thanks and recognition to my friends
(family!) on the America Online Prince boards. And a final general thank you to
all fans of music, anyone who is a part of the New Power Generation, and people
who believe in love.
