  39. |       When you register, you will receive a disk (specify format, 3 1/2"   |
  40. |       or 5 1/4") with the latest version. This entitles you to phone       |
  41. |       and mail support. Plus you receive update notices and bug            |
  42. |       reports. The serialized disk will not be copy protected, but         |
  43. |       it will be for your own personal use (and is not to be               |
  44. |       distributed to others).  Your registration will also entitle you     |
  45. |       to one additional free update when a new version comes out.          |

  51. DEFINITION OF SHAREWARE

  53. Shareware distribution gives users a chance to try software
  54. before buying it. If you try a Shareware program and continue
  55. using it, you are expected to register. Individual programs
  56. differ on details -- some request registration while others
  57. require it, some specify a maximum trial period. With
  58. registration, you get anything from the simple right to continue
  59. using the software to an updated program with printed manual.

  62. and the copyright holder retains all rights, with a few specific
  63. exceptions as stated below. Shareware authors are accomplished
  64. programmers, just like commercial authors, and the programs are
  65. of comparable quality. (In both cases, there are good programs
  66. and bad ones!) The main difference is in the method of
  67. distribution. The author specifically grants the right to copy
  68. and distribute the software, either to all and sundry or to a
  69. specific group. For example, some authors require written
  70. permission before a commercial disk vendor may copy their
  71. Shareware.

  74. should find software that suits your needs and pocketbook,
  75. whether it's commercial or Shareware. The Shareware system makes
  76. fitting your needs easier, because you can try before you buy.

  88. quential, which may result from the use of PixFolio."

  90. PixFolio is a "shareware program" and is provided at no charge
  91. to the user for evaluation.  Feel free to share it with your
  92. friends, but please do not give it away altered or as part of
  93. another system.  The essence of "user-supported" software is to
  94. provide personal computer users with quality software without
  95. high prices, and yet to provide incentive for programmers to

  99. useful and find that you are using PixFolio and continue to use
  100. PixFolio after a reasonable trial period, you must make a reg-
  101. istration payment of $35.00 to Allen C. Kempe (dba ACK Software).

  103. one computer at any one time.  You must treat this software just
  104. like a book.  An example is that this software may be used by any
  105. number of people and may be freely moved from one computer
  106. location to another, so long as there is no possibility of it
  107. being used at one location while it's being used at another.
  108. Just as a book cannot be read by two different persons at the
  109. same time.

  111. Commercial users of PixFolio must register and pay for their
  112. copies of PixFolio within 30 days of first use or their license
  113. is withdrawn.  Site-License arrangements may be made by con-
  114. tacting Allen C. Kempe (dba ACK Software).

  116. Anyone distributing PixFolio for any kind of remuneration must
  117. first contact Allen C. Kempe (dba ACK Software) at the address above
  118. for authorization. This authorization will be automatically granted
  119. to distributors recognized by the (ASP) as adhering to its guidelines
  120. for shareware distributors, and such distributors may begin offering
  121. PixFolio immediately (However Allen C. Kempe (dba ACK Software) must
  122. still be advised so that the distributor can be kept up-to-date with
  123. the latest version of PixFolio.).
