  1. Keepers of the Flame        8-25-93

  3.  
  4. I have issued forth a summons,
  5. A call across the lands,
  6. For all who would abide with Me
  7. Must begin to wash their hands.
  8.  
  9. Bring forth the idols you admire
  10. And heap them on a pile.
  11. Search your heart from end to end
  12. For this may take a while.
  13.  
  14. Bring forth the pleasures of your life,
  15. The sins and folly too.
  16. Toss them on that worthless heap
  17. Of things you say and do.
  18.  
  19. The works you do in vanity
  20. Must on that rubble be;
  21. Conceived in pride of ownership,
  22. They're performed in mockery.
  23.  
  24. All these things have stolen time
  25. From what I hold most dear,
  26. The fellowship I long to have
  27. When you are very near.
  28.  
  29. I will send a holy flame
  30. To consume them with its fire.
  31. Kindled with its glowing touch
  32. And warming love's desire.
  33. My Spirit is the Holy Fire
  34. Kindled deep within your soul,
  35. Burning up the sinful dross
  36. That My grace may make you whole.
  37.  
  38. No demon horde will ever quench
  39. The flame that I have stirred
  40. If you will guard it in your heart
  41. And hunger for My word.
  42.  
  43. Be vigilant in watching
  44. That no other love may steal;
  45. Guard My favor jealously
  46. To never lose your zeal.
  47.  
  48. Patrol your borders faithfully
  49. And call upon My Name.
  50. For I have placed you where you are
  51. As Keepers of the Flame.
  52.  
  53. And when an idol strays inside
  54. You must truly strive
  55. To throw it on the burning coals
  56. And keep the flame alive.
