- DiskMenu is free, and so is what follows.
-
- I am a logically thinking person. I am a graduate student in computer
- engineering, so I'm used to approaching problems in a logical way. What
- follows is a discussion of a wide-spread problem and a logical solution
- to it.
-
- Assume for the sake of argument that Creation as described in the book
- of Genesis of the Bible is an accurate account of the origin of all
- things including man. If this God of the Bible did create us, then He
- has the right to tell us what to do, as the so-called Christians claim.
- I must admit that that's logical. When I write a program, I have the
- right to decide what it will do. If this God of the Bible did create
- us, then He has the right to decide what we will do. The Bible,
- however, claims that He has given us the ability to choose to obey Him
- (unlike a computer program). That's logical: Put yourself in his
- place. If you made man and wanted him to obey you, it would not mean
- much to you if man could not help but obey you (like a robot).
- Similarly, these Christians claim that God gave us a free will to CHOOSE
- to obey Him. After all, it is logical that we should want to obey the
- one who gave us life, and we humans pride ourselves on being logical.
-
- But according to the Bible, man, as a general rule, has chosen to
- disobey God since the time Adam, the first man, disobeyed. This God
- (who calls this "sin") forewarned Adam that the payment of sin is death!
- This death is the death of a soul that the Bible says is an eternal
- process in Hell. If we assume that He has created us, then he has the
- right to send us to Hell if we disobey (especially if he told us he
- would). And if anyone were to read the Bible which contains God's Law,
- he would find some law of God that he has disobeyed. Children are not
- very old before they start to lie and cheat (and notice that they don't
- have to be taught). Even as adults, these laws are seemingly impossible
- to obey. For example, one of the ten commandments says "You shall not
- commit adultery." In the New Testament, Jesus says "If a man looks at a
- woman in a lustful way, he has commited adultery with her already in his
- heart" (i.e. It's the thought that counts!). I know of no male past
- puberty whom this law does not incriminate!
-
- So here is the problem I mentioned above: If we assume for the sake of
- argument that all this is true, we must admit that we have disobeyed the
- God of the Bible and must pay for our sin in an eternal Hell. So the
- next logical question is, "Is there any escape?"
-
- The Bible claims that there is. Let me use an analogy to describe
- their belief: We are in debt to this God who created us, and that debt
- must be paid. The Bible claims that there are only two ways to pay:
- cash and the installment plan. The installment plan is this: you pay
- the debt of sin yourself in Hell forever (and you thought a 30 year
- mortgage will take "forever" to pay off!). The cash payment is Jesus
- Christ, who the Bible claims is God. Either way, the payment is
- infinite: a finite man pays forever, or an infinite God pays once.
-
- So how do we get this cash? The Bible says that it is available for us
- in the bank of Heaven (to continue the analogy). All we have to do is
- transfer the funds to our account, and the Bible says that we do this by
- faith. It says: "Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and you shall be
- saved!" In other words, believe that Jesus Christ, when he died on the
- cross of Calvary, provided for the payment of your debt of sin. The
- "cash" is sitting in the "bank;" all you have to do is claim it! And
- since the infinite God paid the price, the source is infinite and
- everyone can transfer the necessary funds to his account through faith!
-
- This whole discussion has been based on the assumption that the Genesis
- account of creation is true. So my question to you is, "Are you willing
- to risk an eternal Hell on someone else's claim that God did not create
- you?" Find out for youself! If God did create us, you had better take
- care of your debt now!
-
- Personally, I believe it. Paleantologists have produced precious few
- transitionary forms (giving them the benefit of the doubt that they are
- indeed trasitionary forms), whereas if evolution were true, the fossil
- record would be full of them! (i.e. "The Missing Link is still
- missing!!!") Creation perfectly explains why we see no (or few, to give
- them the benefit of the doubt) trasitionary forms: God created animals
- distinct.
-
- Then why are there similarities? Form reflects function. For example,
- the same Person designed all eyes to see! Although different types of
- eyes were designed for different creatures, all eyes see, so they are
- inherently similar. How could an eye evolve anyway? How would a
- organism without an eye know that there is light that it could see if it
- did evolve an eye? By the way, nowhere in the known fossil record is
- there a half-eye/half-something-else.
-
- The Bible even tells us how the fossils were formed (The Flood), and
- observations fit this theory (un-biased observations, that is). Certain
- pollen has been found in the lower strata of the Grand Canyon that,
- according to the evolutionist, was formed millions of years before this
- pollen existed! A flood of the magnitude described in Genesis could
- have put it there, though. Did you know that human footprints have been
- found in rock layers with dinosaur footprints in a river bed in Texas?
- And the evolutionist claims that dinosaurs were extinct long before man.
-
- The list goes on and on. . . .
-
- Don't let someone else's claim that God did not make you determine your
- eternal destiny! You have a debt to pay! Take care of your debt now!
- After you die, you must pay with the installment plan, and there is no
- guarantee of a tomorrow! See James 4:14, Acts 16:31, Romans 10:9-13,
- Ephesians 2:8-9, Titus 3:5, John 3:3, John 3:16, Revelation 20:11-15.
