- DESCRIPTION
-
- AM is a utility which provides a convenient menu
- system for the popular archive program ARC.EXE,
- which may be obtained from numerous shareware
- sources or directly from:
-
- System Enhancement Associates, Inc.
- 21 New Street, Wayne NJ 07470
-
- ARC is copyrighted by System Enhancement Associates,
- Inc.
-
- AM does not provide access to all of the features
- found in ARC. The reasons for not supporting all of
- the features in ARC are:
-
- - To keep the AM program simple and easy to use.
-
- - The run from archive feature would require 150K of
- memory in addition to the memory required by the
- program being executed. I thought that this was
- not an efficient method of executing archived
- programs.
-
- - Features of ARC which I thought would be seldom
- used are not supported by AM.
-
- - If you would like some of these features added to
- AM, let me know.
-

-
-
- List Dos Directory
- The user is prompted for "Path:". Any valid path
- may be entered. Then the user is prompted for
- "files:". Any valid DOS filespec or filename may
- be entered such as "*.*", or "*.DOC". The default
- filespec, "*.*", or the default path, which is
- either the current directory or the previously
- user supplied path, may be specified by pressing
- ENTER in response to the prompts. The listed
- directory will be used for all Add, Extract, and
- Update operations.
-
- Archive File Name
- Enter the path and name of an existing archive
- or a new archive which you wish to create. The
- ".ARC" extension does not need to be entered.
- It will be appended to the filename by AM. If
- no path is entered, the current directory is
- assumed.
-
- List Archive Directory
- If a file name has not been entered yet, you will
- be prompted to enter the archive file name.
-
- Extract Files
- A valid DOS filename or filespec must be supplied
- by the user. The desired files will be extracted
- from the archive and copied into the dos directory
- that is displayed on the status line or the
- current directory if no DOS directory is displayed
- on the status line.
-
- Add Files
- Enter a valid DOS filename or filespec and the
- desired files will be added to the archive. If
- the archive does not exist, a new archive will
- be created.
-
- Update Files
- Enter a valid DOS filename or filespec and the
- desired files will be updated if the file dates
- are later than the matching archived files. If
- the archive does not exist, a new archive will
- be created.
-
- Delete Files
- The specified files will be deleted from the
- archive after a valid DOS filespec or filename
- is specified.
-
-
- Shell to DOS
- Execute any DOS program and return to AM by
- typing "exit" following the DOS prompt.
-
- Quit
- Return to DOS. Pressing the "Esc" key or "q" key
- whenever the Main Menu is displayed will also
- terminate the program.
