  5. - RAY-TRACED GRAPHICS!!!
  6.  
  7. - FULL INTERNAL .VOC SUPPORT
  8.     (any size, using homemade double-buffer technique, VPLAY no longer needed!)
  9.  
  10. - FULL INTERNAL .ROL SUPPORT
  11.     (great news for AdLib users!)
  12.     (uses extended waveform capabilities of AdLib v1.51 & SB v1.5 and later)
  13.  
  14. - INTERNAL .WAV SUPPORT
  15.     (same as .VOC, but 8-bit mono only, I've only got a SB!)
  16.  
  17. - files can be played from any drive and/or directory; CD-Box can also recurse
  18.     directories when scanning (/S parameter). Examples: CD-BOX \ /S

  21. - the documentation has gone through major surgery and is directly available

  24. - I've tried to make CD-Box (the program, the registration procedure, support,

  28. Bug fixes:
  29.  
  30. - the .MOD volume controls and the volume the song was played at weren't
  31.     always consistent when a new .MOD started playing - fixed
  32. - CD-Box won't crash when extracting .VOC length (even if infinite loop)
  33. - CD-Box won't try to analyze again (when you press Rescan) files that for
  34.     some reason could not be analyzed at startup
  35. - files that cannot be extracted are now ignored (instead of stopping CD-Box)
  36. - outrageous playing time for .MODs - fixed
  37. - unknown blocks in .VOC samples are skipped instead of crashing (oops!)

  39. Small improvements:

  41. - Random mode will ignore clicks on other mode-buttons (Files, Goto...)
  42. - Infinite .MOD songs should always terminate (disallowed backward jumps)
  43. - Percent bar updated while scanning
  44. - Index of archives maintained instead of searching through the disk each time
  45.     a song needs to be exploded -> much faster to start playing (drawback:
  46.     increased memory usage :-)
  47. - Building the file index is MUCH MUCH MUCH faster
  48. - CD-Box can be run from any directory, it will look for all its kids in its
  49.     own directory anyway (including SONGS.DAT)
  50. - memory fragmentation much decreased!
  51. - checks that temporary drive/directory is valid
  52. - protection about viruses and hacks
  53. - Esc key cancels current mode and hints user for quitting
  54. - /O switch added & Register button
  55. - sprite manager much improved; notice how the sprites can move past the
  56.     borders of the screen (without hanging the computer of course)
  57. - one new animation
  58. - uses 80286 & 80386 specific instructions in some routines if proper CPU
  59.     is detected
  60. - DefaultBNK= command added
  61. - Text=yes command added (you can now use players that display something)
  62. - Again button added to repeat current song
  63. - some buttons have more than one keyboard equivalent (Rewind & Forward!)
  64. - Registration much easier & better (extra programs!)

  66. - CT-VOICE.DRV no longer needed, but BLASTER, yes
  67. - volume & echo control for .VOC & .WAV
  68. - the same volume is kept throughout the whole session (instead of being reset
  69.     to full each time you start playing a selection)
  70. - .WAV made more robust (some .WAV don't follow exactly the WAVE format
  71.     definition, like KLAXON1.WAV - CD-Box reads some of them anyway)
  72. - CRASH! error messages are more "context-dependent"
  73. - added .PAK support

  77. - duplicates are now only reported in debug mode (CD-BOX/D).
  78. - removed Driver= command from CD-BOX.CFG (it was useless when you think about
  79.     it, the player doesn't necessarily detect it the way CD-Box does)
  80. - /I switch changed, now displays more technical data, not for everyday use
  81. - it's not MDI anymore, but MID. I was fooled by some software which uses the
  82.     MDI extension, but it turns out after all that both extensions are used
  83.     for the same format, and MID is much more used (thanks to Windows for
  84.     instance).
  85. - BLASTER variable highly recommended!

  87. Note to registered users:

  89. CD-BOX.REG is of no use anymore, you can delete it. You'll have to register
  90.   CD-Box again using the same instructions I sent you. If you lost them, write
  91.   me, I'll send them back!
