  8.                             What is Shareware?

  11.      PC-FasType is distributed as 'Shareware'.  Shareware is a computer
  12. program distribution and marketing method that permits buyers to
  13. thoroughly evaluate the program prior to purchase.  Shareware is NOT free
  14. and it is NOT in the Public Domain.  Shareware is an alternative
  15. distribution method for commercial software.  If, after evaluating
  16. PC-FasType, you find it useful enough to use on a regular basis to improve
  17. your typing skills, then you are expected to pay for it by registering
  18. your 'Use' license with Trendtech Corporation.  The SINGLE-USER
  19. Registration Fee is $25.00 plus $3.00 for shipping and handling payable by
  20. check or Money Order in U.S. Funds drawn on a U.S. bank.   Corporate and
  21. Educational Site Licenses, and Right-to-Copy Licenses are also available.

  30.      The Shareware version of PC-FasType displays registration information
  31. screens, registration procedures and registration inducements, as do most
  32. quality Shareware products produced by members of the Association of
  33. Shareware Professionals.

  35.      When you register your 'Use' license of PC-FasType with Trendtech
  36. Corporation, you will receive a disk containing the very latest version of
  37. PC-FasType along with instructions and a special code provided ONLY to
  38. registered users that, when used properly, will eliminate the registration
  39. information screens at the beginning and end of the program.

  41.      You are also allowed to make additional copies of the latest version
  42. of PC-FasType you receive and pass them on to your friends and associates.
  43. However, you are NOT allowed to give out your registration code to NON-
  44. registered users of PC-FasType.  This would be a dereliction of your
  45. responsibility as a registered user and a serious violation of our license
  46. agreement and good trust in you as a valued customer.

  51.      PC-FasType encourages registrations by displaying various Shareware
  52. Registration information screens at the beginning and end of the program.
  53. When you use your REGISTERED version, there will be NO registration
  54. inducement interruptions to hinder your normal use of PC-FasType.

  56.      When you install your registered version and use your registration
  57. code, these extra screens will not appear on the display when you run
  58. PC-FasType.  However, this Registration Information you are NOW reading in
  59. this Quick HELP Facility will still be available.

  65.      Registration of PC-FasType gives you many benefits: you'll receive a
  66. disk containing the latest version of PC-FasType, special instructions
  67. along with a unique registration code assigned to you that will eliminate
  68. the Shareware Information screens; plus a handsomely printed and bound
  69. User Guide,  - and, free technical support from Trendtech by telephone,
  70. fax, or letter for a period of 90 days after registration.   Finally,
  71. you'll receive the author's letter of sincere thanks for supporting

  76. are not fully satisfied with PC-FasType for whatever reason.

  78.      When you copy and pass along PC-FasType to your friends and
  79. associates for evaluation, please encourage them to register their copy if
  80. they find the program useful.  But please, don't pass on your personalized
  81. registration code.

  84.     "YES, I'M REGISTERED; HOW DO I USE MY SPECIAL REGISTRATION CODE?"

  86. You can easily install your registration code by using an Environment
  87. Variable named FTREG.  Just set FTREG equal to your registration code like
  88. this; at the DOS prompt, type the following command:

  92. (your code) was given to you when you received your registered package and
  93. can be found on the thank-you letter or registration card.

  98.      You can put this command in your AUTOEXEC.BAT so it's automatically
  99. set each time you start up your PC.  If PC-FasType doesn't find FTREG in
  100. your environment list or the registration code is not valid, the program
  101. will come up in it's Shareware version and display the registration
  102. encouragement screens.

  104.      When you copy and pass along PC-FasType to your friends and
  105. associates for evaluation, please encourage them to register their copy if
  106. they find the program useful.  But please, don't pass on your personalized
  107. registration code.

  113.      Not so!  Any fees paid by you to organizations other than Trendtech
  114. Corporation are for their disk duplication and distribution services only.
  115. Trendtech Corporation receives no part of those fees.  "For-Profit" disk
  116. vendors must first obtain permission from Trendtech Corporation to
  117. distribute PC-FasType.  Trendtech also prefers to deal with disk vendors
  118. who are Associate Members of the A.S.P.
