- 3 And God blessed the seventh
- day, and sanctified it: because
- that in it he had rested from all
- his work which God created and
- made.
- 19 And out of the ground the
- LORD God formed every beast of
- the field, and every fowl of the
- air; and brought them unto Adam
- to see what he would call them:
- and whatsoever Adam called
- every living creature, that was
- the name thereof.
- 21 And the LORD God caused
- a deep sleep to fall upon Adam,
- and he slept: and he took one of
- his ribs, and closed up the flesh
- instead thereof;
- 22 And the rib, which the LORD
- God had taken from man, made
- he a woman, and brought her
- unto the man.
- 24 So he drove out the man; and
- he placed at the east of the
- garden of Eden Cher-u-bims, and a
- flaming sword which turned every
- way, to keep the way of the tree
- of life.
- AND Adam knew Eve his wife;
- and she conceived, and bare
- Cain, and said, I have gotten a
- man from the LORD.
- 8 And Cain talked with Abel his
- brother: and it came to pass,
- when they were in the field, that
- Cain rose up against Abel his
- brother, and slew him.
- 9 And the LORD said unto
- Cain, Where is Abel thy brother?
- And he said, I know not: Am I
- my brother's keeper?
- 25 And Adam knew his wife
- again; and she bare a son, and
- called his name Seth: For God,
- said she, hath appointed me an-
- other seed instead of Abel, whom
- Cain slew.
- 5 And all the days that Adam
- lived were nine hundred and
- thirty years: and he died.
- 23 And all the days of Enoch
- were three hundred sixty and
- five years:
- 24 And Enoch walked with
- God: and he was not; for God
- took him.
- 27 And all the days of Me-thu-
- se-lah were nine hundred sixty
- and nine years: and he died.
- 10 And Noah begat three sons,
- Shem, Ham, and Ja-pheth.
- 14 Make thee an ark of gopher
- wood; rooms shalt thou make in
- the ark, and shalt pitch it within
- and without with pitch.
- 16 A window shalt thou make
- to the ark, and in a cubit shalt
- thou finish it above; and the door
- of the ark shalt thou set in the
- side thereof; with lower, second,
- and third stories shalt thou make
- it.
- 2 Of every clean beast thou
- shalt take to thee by sevens, the
- male and his female: and of
- beasts that are not clean by two,
- the male and his female.
- 11 In the six hundredth year
- of Noah's life, in the second
- month, the seventeenth day of
- the month, the same day were
- all the fountains of the great
- deep broken up, and the windows of
- heaven were opened.
- 12 And the rain was upon the
- earth forty days and forty nights.
- 4 And the ark rested in the
- seventh month, on the seven-
- teenth day of the month, upon
- the mountains of Ararat.
- 11 And I will establish my
- covenant with you; neither shall
- all flesh be cut off any more by
- the waters of a flood; neither
- shall there any more be a flood to
- destroy the earth.
- 13 I do set my bow in the cloud,
- and it shall be for a token of a
- covenant between me and the
- earth.
- 29 And all the days of Noah
- were nine hundred and fifty
- years: and he died.
- NOW Sar-a-i Abrams's wife
- bare him no children: and
- she had an handmaid, an Egyp-
- tian, whose name was Hagar.
- 3 And Sar-a-i Abram's wife
- took Hagar her maid the Egyp-
- tian, after Abram had dwelt ten
- years in the land of Ca-na-an,
- and gave her to her husband
- Abram to be his wife.
- 15 And Hagar bare Abram a
- son: and Abram called his son's
- name, which Hagar bare, Ish-
- mael.
- 24 And Abraham was ninety
- years old and nine, when he was
- circumcised in the flesh of his
- foreskin.
- 23 The sun was risen upon
- the earth when Lot entered into
- Zoar.
- 24 Then the LORD rained upon
- Sodom and upon Go-mor-rah
- brimstone and fire from the LORD
- out of heaven;
- 26 But his wife looked back
- from behind him, and she became
- a pillar of salt.
- 2 And he said, Take now thy
- son, thine only son Isaac, whom
- thou lovest, and get thee into the
- land of Mo-ri-ah; and offer him
- there for a burnt offering upon
- one of the mountains which I
- will tell thee of.
- 13 And Abraham lifted up his
- eyes, and looked, and behold be-
- hind him a ram caught in a
- thicket by his horns: and Abra-
- ham went and took the ram, and
- offered him up for a burnt offer-
- ing in the stead of his son.
- 67 And Isaac brought her into
- his mother Sarah's tent, and
- took Rebekah, and she became
- his wife; and he loved her: and
- Isaac was comforted after his
- mother's death.
- 7 And these are the days of the
- years of Abraham's life which he
- lived, an hundred threescore and
- fifteen years.
- 24 And when her days to be
- delivered were fulfilled, behold,
- there were twins in her womb.
- 25 And the first came out red,
- all over like an hairy garment;
- and they called his name Esau.
- 26 And after that came his
- brother out, and his hand took
- hold on Esau's heel; and his
- name was called Jacob: and Isaac
- was threescore years old when
- she bare them.
- 32 And Esau said, Behold, I am
- at the point to die: and what
- profit shall this birthright do
- to me?
- 33 And Jacob said, Swear to
- me this day; and he sware unto
- him: and he sold his birthright
- unto Jacob.
- 34 Then Jacob gave Esau bread
- and pottage of lentiles; and he
- did eat and drink, and rose up,
- and went his way: thus Esau
- despised his birthright.
- 10 And Jacob went out from
- Beer-sheba, and went toward
- Haran.
- 11 And he lighted upon a cer-
- tain place, and tarried there all
- night, because the sun was set;
- and he took of the stones of that
- place, and put them for his pil-
- lows, and lay down in that place
- to sleep.
- 10 And Jacob went out from
- Beer-sheba, and went toward
- Haran.
- 12 And he dreamed, and behold
- a ladder set up on the earth, and
- the top of it reached to heaven:
- and behold the angels of God
- ascending and descending on it.
- 24 And Jacob was left alone;
- and there wrestled a man with
- him until the breaking of the day.
- 25 And when he saw that he
- prevailed not against him, he
- touched the hollow of his thigh;
- and the hollow of Jacob's thigh
- was out of joint, as he wrestled
- with him.
- 26 And he said, Let me go, for
- the day breaketh. And he said, I
- will not let thee go, except thou
- bless me.
- 28 And the days of Isaac were
- an hundred and fourscore
- years.
- 29 And Isaac gave up the ghost,
- and died, and was gathered unto
- his people, being old and full of
- days: and his sons Esau and
- Jacob buried him.
- 27 Come, and let us sell him to
- the Ish-mee-lites, and let not our
- hand be upon him; for he is our
- brother and our flesh. And his
- brethren were content.
- 28 Then there passed by Mid-
- ianites merchantmen; and they
- drew and lifted up Joseph out of
- the pit, and sold Joseph to the
- Ish-mee-lites for twenty pieces
- of silver: and they brought
- Joseph into Egypt.
- 12 And there was there with us
- a young man, an Hebrew, servant
- to the captain of the guard; and
- we told him, and he interpreted
- to us our dreams; to each man
- according to his dream he did
- interpret.
- 14 Then Phar-aoh sent and
- called Joseph, and they brought
- him hastily out of the dungeon:
- and he shaved himself, and
- changed his raiment, and came
- in unto Pharaoh.
- 3 And God said, Let there be
- light: and there was light.
- 4 And God saw the light, that
- it was good: and God divided the
- light from the darkness.
- 5 And God called the light Day,
- and the darkness he called Night.
- And the evening and the morning
- were the first day.
- 9 And God said, Let the
- waters under heaven be gathered
- together unto one place, and
- let the dry land appear: and it
- was so.
- 13 And the evening and the
- morning were the third day.
- 21 And God created great whales,
- and every living creature that
- moveth, which the waters brought
- forth abundantly, after their
- kind, and every winged fowl after
- his kind: and God saw that it was
- good.
- 23 And the evening and the
- morning were the fifth day.
- 27 So God created man in his
- own image, in the image of God
- created he him; male and female
- created he them.
- 31 And God saw every thing
- that he had made, and, behold,
- it was very good. And the evening
- and the morning were the sixth
- day.
- 21 And Enoch lived sixty and
- five years, and begat Me-thu-
- se-lah:
- 4 And they said, Go to, let us
- build us a city and a tower,
- whose top may reach unto heav-
- en; and let us make us a name,
- lest we be scattered abroad upon
- the face of the whole earth.
- 9 Therefore is the name of it
- called Babel; because the LORD
- did there confound the language
- of all the earth: and from thence
- did the LORD scatter them abroad
- upon the face of all the earth.
- 23 And Abraham drew near,
- and said, Wilt thou also destroy
- the righteous with the wicked?
- 32 And he said, Oh let not the
- Lord be angry, and I will speak
- yet but this once: Peradventure
- ten shall be found there. And
- he said, I will not destroy it for
- ten's sake.
- 11 And Abraham said, Because
- I thought, Surely the fear of God
- is not in this place; and they
- will slay me for my wife's sake.
- 12 And yet indeed she is my
- sister; she is the daughter of my
- father, but not the daughter of my
- mother; and she became my wife.
- AND the LORD visited Sarah as
- he had said, and the LORD
- did unto Sarah as he had spoken.
- 2 For Sarah conceived, and
- bare Abraham a son in his old
- age, at the set time of which God
- had spoken to him.
- 3 And Abraham called the name
- of his son that was born unto him,
- whom Sarah bare to him, Isaac.
- 4 And Abraham circumcised his
- son Isaac being eight days old, as
- God had commanded him.
- 5 And Abraham was an hundred
- years old, when his son Isaac was
- born unto him.
- 19 And after this, Abraham
- buried Sarah his wife in the cave
- of the field of Mach-pe-lah
- before Mamre: the same is Hebron
- in the land of Ca-na-an.
- 29 And Rebekah had a brother,
- and his name was Laban:
- and Laban ran out unto the man,
- unto the well.
- THEN again Abraham took
- a wife, and her name was
- Ke-tu-rah.
- 25 And the first came out red,
- all over like an hairy garment;
- and they called his name Esau.
- 10 And it came to pass, when
- Jacob saw Rachel the daughter of
- Laban his mother's brother, and
- the sheep of Laban his mother's
- brother, that Jacob went near, and
- rolled the stone from the well's
- mouth, and watered the flock
- of Laban his mother's brother.
- 16 And Laban had two daughters:
- the name of the elder was Leah,
- and the name of the younger
- was Rachel.
- 18 And Jacob loved Rachel; and
- said, I will serve thee seven
- years for Rachel thy younger
- daughter.
- 25 And it came to pass, that
- in the morning, behold, it was
- Leah: and he said to Laban,
- What is this thou hast done unto
- me? did not I serve with thee for
- Rachel? wherefore then hast thou
- beguiled me?
- 20 And Jacob served seven
- years for Rachel; and they seemed
- unto him but a few days, for the
- love he had to her.
- 26 And Laban said, It must not
- be so done in our country, to give
- the younger before the firstborn.
- 30 And he went in also unto
- Rachel, and he loved also Rachel
- more than Leah, and served with
- him yet seven other years.
- 23 And it came to pass when
- Joseph was come unto his brethren,
- that they stripped Joseph out
- of his coat, his coat of many
- colours that was on him;
- 26 And Judah said unto his
- brethren, What profit is it if we
- slay our brother, and conceal his
- blood?
- 27 Come, and let us sell him to
- the Ish-mee-lites, and let not our
- hand be upon him; for he is our
- brother and our flesh. And his
- brethren were content.
- 6 And Judah took a wife for Er
- his firstborn, whose name was
- Tamar.
- AND Joseph was brought down
- to Egypt; and Pot-i-phar, an
- officer of Phar-aoh, captain of
- the guard, an Egyptian, bought
- him of the hands of the Ish-mee-
- lites, which had brought him
- down thither.
- 19 If ye be true men, let one of
- your brethren be bound in the
- house of your prison: go ye,
- carry corn for the famine of your
- houses:
- 24 And he turned himself about
- from them, and wept; and returned
- to them again, and communed
- with them, and took from
- them Simeon, and bound him
- before their eyes.
- 37 And Reuben spake unto his
- father, saying, Slay my two sons,
- if I bring him not to thee: de-
- liver him into my hand, and I will
- bring him to thee again.
- 11 Then they speedily took down
- every man his sack to the ground,
- and opened every man his sack.
- 12 And he searched, and began
- at the eldest, and left at the
- youngest: and the cup was found
- in Benjamin's sack.
- 8 And these are the names of
- the children of Israel, which came
- into Egypt, Jacob and his sons:
- Reuben, Jacob's firstborn.
- 19 The sons of Rachel Jacob's
- wife; Joseph, and Benjamin.
- 20 And unto Joseph in the
- land of Egypt were born Ma-nas-seh
- and E-phra-im, which As-e-nath
- the daughter of Po-ti-pher-ah
- priest of On bare unto him.
- 26 So Joseph died, being an
- hundred and ten years old: and
- they embalmed him, and he was
- put in a coffin in Egypt.
-
