  2. GIFs Galore CDROM
  3.  
  4. This CDROM contains over 6000 images, in a wide variety of categories.  These
  5. images are located in the directory ``gifs'', with a separate subdirectory for
  6. each category.  For instance, the directory``\gifs\people'' contains pictures
  7. of people, and the directory ``\gifs\birds'' contains pictures of birds.  Each
  8. subdirectory of images has catalogs containing arrays of reduced images so you
  9. can quickly preview the pictures.  These catalog files are named 000cat.gif,
  10. 001cat.gif, 002cat.gif, etc.

  12. Viewers are included for several different systems.  They are located in the
  13. directory ``viewers''.  To view the images using either GDS or VPIC, you can
  14. run the program ``GDS.BAT'' or ``VPIC.BAT'' respectively.  These program are
  15. shareware.  (Viewing the images on this CDROM with VPIC does not require
  16. registration.  Other use does.)

  18. Due to the large number of incompatible video cards, most viewers will not work
  19. on all systems.  So if a particular viewer doesn't work with your system, try
  20. another.  Both viewers will work better and offer more colors if you install
  21. them for your video card.  You'll need to copy the files to your hard disk and
  22. select the correct initialization file for your video card.  See the respective
  23. documentation for GDS and VPIC and the "install.txt" on the cdrom drive.

  25. Many of the programs on this disc are shareware, and require separate payment
  26. to the author of the program for continued use.  You are free to try shareware
  27. programs for a limited amount of time.  If you continue to use the program, you
  28. are expected to register the program by sending a specified amount of money
  29. directly to the author of the program.  In many cases the author will send you
  30. the most up to date version of the program and a printed manual.  Please check
  31. individual files for conditions.
