  6.                          Main Window
  7. -------------------------------------------------------------------
  8. The main window has three basic selections; the main menu, the main 
  9. categories box and the category list.
  10.  
  11. . The Main Menu
  12.    This provides standard Help and Exit functions. The Help function
  13.    displays this file.
  14.  
  15. . The Main Categories Box
  16.    All the applications on this CD-ROM have been arranged into main 
  17.    categories. Clicking on any one of the buttons (eg. Education) 
  18.    will select all the relevant files for this category and display
  19.    a summary description of each application in the category list.

  21. . The Category List
  22.    The list in the left hand corner contains all the files for the  
  23.    selected category. With this box you can scroll through the various 
  24.    selections by pressing the Up and Down arrows to the right of the 
  25.    items. To select and learn more about an item just doubleclick on 
  26.    the description in the list and the individual selection box will 
  27.    appear with a variety of options.

  30.                  Individual File Selection Box
  31. ------------------------------------------------------------------
  32. This box provides several options for using any of the items on the 
  33. CDROM. Some applications may not include certain options such as Help
  34. or the application may require that it be installed on your hard disk
  35. before it can be used. Unavailable options are shown with the usual
  36. grayed "disable" text colour.

  38. The available options under the individual file selection box are 
  39. launch, read help, read text, read docs., view/listen, install to hard 
  40. disk, and (still) more information.
  41.  
  42. . Launch: If black, this button will execute the application directly 
  43.   from the CDROM without copying it to any other drive. If the launch 
  44.   button is grayed out it means the item must be Installed to your 
  45.   hard drive or floppy diskette
  46.  
  47.   Note: Some applications will modify your WIN.INI file and not indicate 
  48.   to you that it has done so. This is common, for example, when you 
  49.   change the default setup or options for some applications. Deleting
  50.   the application at a later date does not necessarily remove the 
  51.   entries from your WIN.INI file. If you are concerned about such 
  52.   modifications, back up WIN.INI before installing any applications
  53.   (whether from this CD-ROM or any other source, for that matter).

  55. . Read Help: If black, this button will display whatever help file was 
  56.   was provided with the application by the shareware author. Some 
  57.   applications may not have a help file.
  58.  
  59. . Read Text: If black, this button will display a text file that is
  60.   associated with the application or item. Such a file is usually a 
  61.   READ.ME, README.TXT or some other derivative filename.
  62.  
  63. . Read Document: If black, this button will show you a file in the 
  64.   Windows Write format (filename.wri). This button is also used for 
  65.   text files that the Windows Notepad cannot load due to certain file
  66.   size restrictions.

  68. . View/Listen: This button will only be black for Wave, Midi, Flic
  69.   (animation), and bitmaps (graphics). Clicking this button will allow 
  70.   you to preview a selection before installing it onto your hard drive
  71.   or diskette. Aztech's CD-ROM menu program will look into your 
  72.   Windows configuration to see if you have any applications that will
  73.   play or display the particular filetype you requested.

  75.   For example, the BMP Files category might use Paint that comes with 
  76.   Windows. The Wave Files category may call up Windows' Media Player.

  78. . Install to Hard Disk: This button is always black and when selected, 
  79.   will open a dialog box. The box will display all the drives and 
  80.   directories that you have available. It will also allow you to create 
  81.   new directories by pressing the New Directory button.
  82.  
  83.   Note: Aztech's CD-ROM Menu install option will check to see if you 
  84.   have enough space on the drive and directory you requested before it 
  85.   tries to copy any files. Also, it will not allow you to install an 
  86.   application into the "root" directory of any drive. This is done for 
  87.   your protection (please read your MS-DOS manual for more details).  
  88.   You must create a new a directory for installing the application or 
  89.   use an existing directory.

  91. . More Information: This button is always black. It provides a variety
  92.   of additional useful information about each application including:
  93.   
  94.         . cost of registration, 
  95.         . time you are permitted to try it out before registering
  96.         . amount of disk space (in kilobytes) required
  97.         . in what directory the application resides on the CD-ROM
  98.         . and more.

  122.   know how to use various decompression programs.
