250+ CLASSIC CITIES ON CD-ROM
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
1. Q: What are CLASSIC cities?
A: The classic cities are files that were created for the older
SIM CITY CLASSIC game which is a predecessor of SIM CITY 2000
FOR WINDOWS.
2. Q: How can I use classic cities with SIM CITY 2000 FOR WINDOWS?
A: Classic cities are loaded and used with SIM CITY 2000 in the
same manner that you load a normal saved city. Substitute a
".CTY" file extension instead of ".SC2" to see a list of the
available files. When you load a classic city, SIM CITY 2000
will convert the file into the SC2 format if you desire.
3. Q: Do I have to load and convert all the S-ZONE! classic cities
to use them with SIM CITY 2000 FOR WINDOWS?
A: No. The 800+ cities which are ready-to-use with SIM CITY 2000
include the classic cities. The classic cities are already
preconverted for you. To locate the classic files, use the
"WizardWorks Game File Manager" to conduct a search for the
keyword "CLASSIC".
4. Q: If versions of the classic cities are already converted for
SIM CITY 2000, why are the original 250+ files included on
the CD-ROM disc?
A: The main reason that the original classic cities are included
is that they can be edited with a special program called
"EDITCITY.EXE" which is automatically installed with the
classic cities. The editor will not work with the new format
for SIM CITY 2000. It only works with classic cities.
You can use the editor to change cash and market variables (in
other words, cheat!) for classic cities. Then load your own
souped up versions of the cities into SIM CITY 2000.
5. Q: How do I install the classic cities from the CD-ROM disc on
to my hard disk so that I can edit them?
A: A special installation program is included with the classic
cities. To install the cities, use Windows Program Manager.
1. Select "File" from the Main Menu bar at the
top of the Program Manager window.
2. Select "Run" from the pulldown menu which
will appear.
3. Type: X:\CTY\INSTALL.EXE (and select the OK
button or press ENTER to install the files.
Substitute the letter for your CD-ROM disc
for the letter 'X').
If you do not have enough disc space to install all of the
classic cities, refer to the README.TXT or 0_README.TXT
files which are located in the X:\CTY directory. Manual
or single file installation procedures are described in
the forementioned documents.
6. Q: Where can I find tips, tricks and cheats to use with the new
SIM CITY 2000 file format?
A: Use Windows Notepad, or any other text editor, to examine the
text (.TXT) files which are contained in the X:\CTYTOOLS
directory of your CD-ROM disc.
