- This utility was made in 1996 by Peter Reinhold (reinhold@internet.dk), and is
- completely freeware, meaning that you may distribute / copy / giveaway this
- program as you see fit, just as long as you do not make any money by the
- transfer.
-
- If you feel like contributing a small amount of money (5$) then this will gain
- you a personalised version of DukeMatch'er (Your name will be present on the
- main screen), plus you will receive all future upgrades. (ONLY available via
- email, I'm not in the mood to mail disks all over the world)
-
- Look for contact adress in the end of this text file.

- oOo - 2.0 Overview - oOo
-
- DukeMatch'er is a small utility which is to be used to launch DukeMatches,
- without having to start the setup program every time.
-
- These are the capabilities of DukeMatch'er v1.0
-
- 1. Select number of players for a DukeMatch session.
- 2. Select what episode to start on.
- 3. Select what level to start on. (Both episode and level names are here, so if
- you can remember that Tier Drops is a great DM level, but can't remember
- its e#l# code, you can just select it by name)
- 4. Set skill level.
- 5. Set monsters On / Off
- 6. Set type of respawn method you will use (Monsters / Items / Inventory
- Items / All)
- 7. Set game type (Standard DM / Co-Op / Old DM)
- 8. Change your DM player name.
- 9. Select usermap via a handy File Requester (Has been tested with 1500 .MAP
- files in the Duke dir)
- 10. Edit the CommBat macros.
- 11. Have the MAP files in a separate directory.
-
- At this time DukeMatcher ONLY launches IPX-Net games, so if you want to do a
- Modem / Serial connection, wait for a later version, and use setup.exe in the
- meantime.
-

- oOo - 3.0 Installation - oOo
-
- No problem at all, just copy DMATCHER.EXE and DMATCHER.INF to your Duke3D dir,
- and type dmatcher at the command prompt.
-
- You can edit the DMATCHER.INF file to suit your needs. (If you, by mistake,
- should happen to delete the file, DMATCHER creates a new one for you the
- next time you start it)
-
- As a piece of advice, you should backup your COMMIT.DAT and DUKE3D.CFG, as the
- program alters these files. I haven't had any problems, but just to be on the
- safe side.
-
-
-
-
- oOo - 4.0 How to Use - oOo

- Press F1 to edit the CommBat Macro's
- Press F2 to select a user map (They have top be present in the DUKE dir)

-
-
- oOo - Known Bug - oOo
-
- When you run DukeMatch'er, be sure that ALL participants select the same
- episode / level / skill level / monster setting / .MAP file etc., as the game
- will crash with an "Out of Sync" error (you will still be able to play, but
- you will be alone)
-
- I have a real brilliant idea how to remedy this, but you will have to wait for
- version 2 to see that. :)
