OCR: THE STORY OF LITTLE RED RIDING HOOD Once upon a time in a deep dark forest lived a little girl with her mother. The little girl was very beautiful with dark brown hair and blue eyes, and because she always wore a red cloak with a big hood everyone knew her as Little Red Riding Hood. One day, Little Red Riding Hood's mother asked her to visit her Grandmother who was ill. Her Grandmother lived in a little wooden cottage in the middle of the forest so her mother packed Little Red Riding Hood a basket of food to share with her Grandmother, and told her to run all the way to the cottage without talking to any strangers. Little Red Riding Hood hadn't gone far when she noticed some pretty flowers growing under a tree just off the path. She knew her Grandmother would really like them, so although her mother had told her not to stop on the way to the cottage, she skipped over to the tree and started picking the flowers. Suddenly, she heard a deep growling voice. 'Hello, little girl - what are you doing here?' asked a wolf, peering out from behind the tree. 'I'm just going to visit my Grandmother who is poorly and I thought she'd like these flowers,' replied Little Red Riding Hood, feeling a bit worried. 'Where does your Grandmother live, little girl?' asked the wolf. 'In the middle of the forest, in a little wooden cottage,' said Little Red Riding Hood, as she bent over to pick more flowers. 'Where do you live?' she asked the wolf - but then she noticed that he'd disappeared. Now, not many people pass through the woods and so the wolf was often very hungry. He was very excited to think he could eat two people in one day so he ran all the way to Grandmother's house and thumped on the door, impatiently. 'Let me in, let me in, Grandmother! It's Little Red Riding Hood,' he said in a high-pitched voice. 'Come in, my dear, the door is unlocked,' called Grandmother. The wolf leapt through the door and gobbled poor Old Grandmother in one big gulp. Then the wolf jumped into Grandmother's bed and pulled the covers up to his neck.
