The Illustrated
HISTORY OF COMPUTERS
Part I
by Dave Moorman
Two events launched this Media-
Meister opus:
1. Corky Cochran sent a disk of
marvelous classical music,
including the works of Joseph
Haydn and W.A. Mozart.
2. I stumbled onto Wikipedia on the
Web. Wikipedia is an open
encyclopedia which accepts
articles from users. The data
seems sound, the pictures are
good, it has a "text only" mode
for C= users, and the links to
other material can keep a
researcher happy for days at a
time.
I am not sure now what I was
looking for, but I called up the
article on Charles Babbage, which had
a great picture of the "Father of
Computers." So I went on a spree --
hunting down known and not-so-known
personages behind our wonderful
contraption. Soon I had enough for a
whole show.
MediaMeister seemed to be the best
way to present several pages of text
for each portrait. And it also allows
music to play along with the show.
That's when Corky's contribution came
into play. The Haydn concert (with
Mozart's Einen Kleinen Nacht Musick)
made a good background for the
history.
You can read Corky's liner notes
in the Haydn Read It file. Now, enjoy
the program.
