I am sitting at my sister's dining
room table, typing this article on my
P100 laptop -- running VICE 1.7. The
C-64 is now portable. Hot Dog! We came
down here to Albuquerque because my
mother just got out of the hospital.
Fortunately, Albuquerque is a fairly
easy 6 hour drive from Holly.
I need to say this again -- Sheri
and I dearly love putting out LOADSTAR
and have no intention of quitting for
at least another couple of years. Many
of you are subscribed through issue
211. Watch for specials for those who
get their renewals in early!
In 2002, we will be taking over
the 1541 production and shipping. This
year, Fender and Judi have handled
that part of the business, which
really helped as we found our "C=
legs!"
But about this issue. The results
of the 2001 MiniGame Competition are
in. This was a challenge for 8-bit
computer programmers (on C-64, Amstrad
CPC, Spectrum, Atari) to write games
in just 512 bytes or 2048 bytes. We
have included the C-64 winners here.
It really takes some programming savvy
to do so much with so little.
A decade ago, Arndt Dettke of
Germany created a powerful graphics
processor program called GoDot, which
was a great hit in Europe. However, it
did not catch on well here on our side
of the pond. So Arndt decided to put
the whole thing out as Free Ware. I
wrote him for permission to publish
GoDot on LOADSTAR, and he was
graciously excited. Or excitedly
gracious. Anyway, we have GoDot (or a
goodly part thereof) Wraptored up on
Side 4, with plenty of documentation.
I will let the rest of the issue
be a surprise.
