JOGGERS
by
Steven Proper
COMMODORE POWER/PLAY MAGAZINE
April/May 1986
p.87
If you journey to a sporting goods
store these days you might be in for
a shock-- the properly attired jogger
must lay down some big bucks to pick
up his or her feet. Try on some $100
running shoes, a pair of $30 running
shorts, and some $75 warmups on for
size. Your plastic must have more
endurance than you do.
Did you ever stop to wonder what
people did before running shoes? Run
barefoot? How barbaric!
Running barefoot may be primitive,
but it CAN be fun-- in JOGGERS, an
arcade-style game from Steven Proper.
The object of the game is to guide
a pair of running feet through a
course littered with all sorts of
dangerous debris. If you hit more
than eight obstacles, you break
training permanently.
You control the running feet by
pressing the "F" key, which sends you
left, the "J" key which sends you
right, and the "K" key which allows
you to leap obstacles.
You must be careful with the
leaping option, though. You can jump
too far-- until your feet disappear
from the screen. And each time you
do jump, your "Verticle Status"
increases. In other words, your
jumps become longer and longer,
making it quite easy to leap off of
the screen.
At the end of the game, the total
number of games won and lost is
displayed along with options that
allow you to alter the difficulty of
the game.
You may alter the OPS, objects per
stride, by pressing F1, the VERTICAL
STATUS by pressing F3, and the
lenghth of game with F5. Pressing F7
will end the game.
