- Problem:
-
- when I 'loadbsd.720 vmunix.714' it starts booting into BSD but
- will not read the 'BSDR' partition. Intead it ends in repeated
- scsi errors. The last few lines of the boot go like this:
-
- scsi0: scsi id 7
- GVPIIscsi [2017/11]
- sbic_wait TIMEO @640 with asr=x0 csr=x8a
-
- when the BSDR partition is on board 0. When the BSDR partition is
- attached to board 1 I get instead:
-
- scsi0: scsi id 7
- GVPIIscsi [2017/11]
- no suitable root.
-
- Setups:
-
- I've tried many:
- vmunix.714
- vmunix.720 - this one gave the same error, but the screen mode was
- some weird hires that I could barely make out on my
- monitor
-
- filetodev
- streamtodev
-
- maxtor + quantum on board 1. booting off maxtor
- maxtor on board 0, quantum on board 1. booting off maxtor.
- maxtor + quantum on board 0. booting off maxtor
- maxtor + quantum on board 0. booting off quantum
- maxtor + quantum on board 1. booting off quantum
-
- I've deleted and re-created the BSDR and other BSD partitions
- several times with HDToolBox.
-
- Someone walked me through checking for 'scsi sync inhibit' or something
- like that. He said I'm o.k. with that right now.
-
- MTK said its my board going into command mode before the software is
- expecting it to (I think, if I remember correctly).
-
- Some suggested I take out the second scsi card but this isnt a possibility
- because I have 4 megs of normal simms on it, and the accelerator only
- takes GVP's weird simms.
-
- The best theory going right now is that the autoconfig code is getting
- confused about the two cards and they are somehow conflicting.
-
- Please help me out here. I just spent $350 so that I can put BSD on my
- machine.
