- Okay...so I decided to finally break down and try installing the latest version
- of NetBSD on my A3000/040 this evening and have run into a few snags:
-
- 1) How the **** do you format a new partition? I've tried using newfs and/or
- mfs, and both of them complain that they don't know the disk type of the
- partition that I want to format. I'm fairly certain I have everything set
- up correctly with HDToolBox. In case it's important, my configuration is:
-
- SCSI Device 1: Maxtor P1-17s, which the first 400Mb or so set up to be
- /usr. Indentifier is 0x42534444, partition name is BSDD.
-
- (the rest of the disk is for AmigaDOS)
-
- SCSI Device 6: Quamtum 80Mb, with 20Mb of swap, 8Mb root, and the rest
- dedicated to swap space.
-
- 2) I am constantly getting the ancient "DMAINTR: should no longer be entered"
- error message whenever disk access occurs. Any idea what this is and if
- there's any way to fix it?
-
- 3) Just for grins, I attempted to install bin-bin.tar stuff, at which point
- I got: "dmanext at end" (or something like that) and a kernel panic.
-
- Anyone want to take a shot at any of these?
-
- Thanks,
- Ken
