- Just for thrills, I ported my own, independent X11R5 server "Xami" to
- NetBSD last weekend (generic monochrome sample server). After
- tweaking it all week and this weekend, it is starting to look pretty
- complete. Required less than 100 lines of new, well placed code; works
- on an unmodified 709 kernel.
-
- Anyways, the question is, with the very nice "French" (?) version
- already out there, is there anybody out there who is interested in
- another server? (just the server itself since existing clients,
- libs, etc., should be compatible). Or a very minimal X setup?
-
- If so, I could upload it next weekend so someone could help me test it
- out. Being monochrome, it has the advantages of being small (500k)
- and fast. (Visions of x11perf/xstones/otherXbogusbenchmarks wars :-).
- No plans to tweak the cfb Pixblit routines for ecs yet though.
-
- Or would that just confusing and a waste of disk space and bandwidth?
- If so, I'll just keep it to myself and be quiet. I plan to get a new
- graphics card as soon as I figure out which one (spectrum?), and would
- really like to have X11 running on it (my real motivation for doing my
- own port: guaranteed support). Maybe then would be a better time.
