  3. For you NetBSD/X11 hackers I've got here preliminary X11R4 distribution.
  4. It works fine EXCEPT you won't be able to play with mouse nor keyboard
  5. because lacks of /dev/mouse & /dev/keyboard (key Markus!).

  7. X11R4 is splitted in 7 archives:

  9. X11R4Beta-server     210KB    Xbsd X11R4 server for NetBSD (monochrome)
  10. X11R4Beta-clients     329KB    X11R4 clients (xinit, xedit, xman, ...)
  11. X11R4Beta-demos        2000KB    X11R4 demos (ico, maze, plais, xeyes, ...)
  12. X11R4Beta-datas          46KB    X11R4 /usr/lib/X11 directory
  13. X11R4Beta-fonts        1500KB    X11R4 fonts, 75dpi, 100dpi, misc
  14. X11R4Beta-include     151KB    X11R4 header files & bitmaps
  15. X11R4Beta-libs         303KB    X11R4 libraries

  17. I'm planing to upload them to ftp.eunet.ch in /upload, but I need to know
  18. before if there's enough space on disks.

  20. If for any reason I can't upload them before tomorrow, you'll be able to
  21. download them directly from my anonymous FTP site at 192.70.117.81
  22. (colombo.telesys-innov.fr), in /pub/amiga/NetBSD/X11. PLEASE NOT that
  23. we're running only on a 19.2KB line, so I strongly suggest that one of you
  24. get archives and repost them on a faster site (I'll be away 'til Monday).

  26. As my friends told me, it *should* work with NetBSD #37 vmunix. It WON'T
  27. work with current #644 'cause it lacks memory mapping. You'll have
  28. anyway to modify 'sys/arch/amiga/dev/grf_cc.c' #line 749 and comment out

  30.      custom.dmacon = DMAF_RASTER | DMAF_COPPER | DMAF_SPRITE

  32. if you want to return to text mode after X11.

  38. When X11R4 will be complete/stable they'll work on X11R5 port (They and I
  39. have personnally ported X11R5 to Amix, but due to weird bugs, they prefer
  40. working on X11R4 first just to be sure port is OK).

  43. BECAUSE PEOPLE ASKED FOR IT. DON'T BLAME US IF YOU CRASH FS, DISKS,
