- What is the current networking status for NetBSD? Next week I will be
- moving my computer back to school, where I have a permanent fast SLIP
- connection to the Internet. (I also have an ethernet hookup, unfortunately
- I've decided I'd rather buy food than an ethernet card...) SLIP seems to
- be supported, has anyone had success with this? I don't want to waste a
- lot of time trying to get it to work if it's impossible. :)
-
- I'm new at Unix administration, but from my understanding, the following
- should do it:
-
- Add my hostname and IP address to /etc/hosts
- Get the netmask right in /etc/something
- Set up the default route in /etc/wherever
- ifconfig... (Or let rc do it)
-
- How do I get the correct baud rate for sl0?
- DNS should come naturally if it can find a route out, I think.
- (Assuming NetBSD supports DNS)
-
- Anything else I need to do to get on the network?
-
- Thanks,
- Nathan
