- I spent last night compiling 531 beneath ADOS and since I only got 4M
- FastRAM + 1M ChipRam I usually turn off all extra daemons as well as
- the interlaced 640x1000 virtual screen in order to save memory. To my
- surprise I got the steady grey screen. I thought I'd messed up the
- compilation at first, but that wasn't the case. It was the fact that
- I wasn't using *interlace* when booting BSD! When I found out this an
- old messsage seen here came to my mind:
-
- "I can't seem to boot NetBSD before IPrefs has run"
-
- or someting of the kind. So all of you having steady coloured screens
- when booting, try to go into interlace mode first.
-
- I have yet to find out why BSD won't get any further than attaching the
- SLIP and loopback interfaces on my machine. Maybe tonight.
