  1. This is the file "getting-NetBSD" from the NetBSD-Amiga distribution.
  2. It describes the possible ways of getting NetBSD-Amiga.

  13. 1. Obtaining NetBSD-Amiga
  14.  
  15. Currently it is only possible to get NetBSD-Amiga via 
  16.  
  17. o Ftp
  18. o BBS

  20. This situation may change in the future, because Ty Sarna
  21. (tsarna@endicor.com) will eventually produce a CD-ROM. DON'T write to
  22. him and ask him, when this CD-ROM will be released. There is no time
  23. set for this CD to be available, because we cannot say, when such a
  24. distribution will be useful. Currently the kernel changes quite fast,
  25. so a CD-ROM might get old very quickly :-)

  27. If there is enough demand, Guenther Grau (s_grau@ira.uka.de) is
  28. willing to distribute NetBSD-Amiga in Europe on several different
  29. media, including tapes and magneto-optical discs. A distribution on
  30. Floppy-Disks is quite unlikely, but if enough people want it, he might
  31. be willing to set up even a floppy-distribution, as he likes
  32. NetBSD-Amiga being available to the largest community possible. So, if
  33. you want to obtain NetBSD via any media in Europe, please write to him
  34. and tell him exactly, what media you would like.

  41. I set up a list of ftp-sites where NetBSD-Amiga is currently
  42. available. The primary distribution site of NetBSD is
  43. ftp.eunet.ch:/pub/NetBSD/. 
  44. You can find some documentation on NetBSD-Amiga in ./incoming/DOCS.
  45. You should be able to find the latest stuff of everything related to
  46. NetBSD-Amiga. This site has several mirrors, listed in the table below.

  127. NetBSD-Amiga was not written from scratch. It is a prot of the
  128. NetBSD-current sources, which can be found at

  133. The changes made to the NetBSD-current sources to make it run on the
  134. Amiga will be reintegrated into these sources, so that you should be
  135. able to build it from the Current-sources. However, the process of
  136. reintegration is always a bit behind the current development, but most
  137. of the sources you need can be taken directly from the
  138. Current-sources. There are a lot of mirrors of NetBSD-Current, so I
  139. don't include a list here. If somebody wants a list, then go ahead and
  140. create one. If not, mayby someday I will find the time to do so.

  144. There are a few BBS in Germany that do offer NetBSD-Amiga, but I don't
  145. have any phone numbers at hand. If you know of a box, please mail the
  146. phonenumber to the maintainer of this list.
