  16. Un-SND Rumors            There must be something in the Charter
  17. -------------            for Newspapers that says look for
  18.              non-positive news.

  20.              Well, now a Major newspaper has managed to
  21.              find non-positive news about the newspaper medium
  22.              (and I thought they'd never point their pen
  23.              at themselves!!).

  25.              It reported that a Mr. Warren Buffet
  26.              (one of America's most successful investors)
  27.              has stated that newspapers have
  28.              "permanently" lost their business value.

  30.               I am not an expert.  But I believe that
  31.               Mr. Buffet is wrong.  I also believe that
  32.               Mr. Buffet needs to do some mind traveling
  33.               to a not too distant time zone (say circa 1995).

  35.               In that time zone Mr. Buffet would observe
  36.               himself reading his past quotes in an
  37.               Electronic Newspaper.  He'd be using a small
  38.               8.5" x 11" device that is readable in any
  39.               orientation.  He'd also be able to just lay
  40.               back and automatically listen to his
  41.               quotes via synthesized speech that would mimic
  42.               his very own.

  44.               He'd then realize that in the early 1990's
  45.               the newspaper industry went thru a renaissance
  46.               as it evolved from a paper to an electronic
  47.               format.  He'd also realize that newspapers
  48.               did not "permanently" lose their business value
  49.               in the year 1991.
