  13. Un-SND Rumors      An example of how our government RUNS AWAY from
  14. -------------      a problem (that could be used as a solution),
  15.            instead of running the government as a business:

  17.            Governor Weld of Massachusetts wants to privatize
  18.            two toll roads there (toll means they charge you $$$).
  19.  
  20.            Trouble is, instead of figuring out a way to maximize
  21.            profits for BOTH state & federal governments from these
  22.            toll roads (who BOTH need it in this Great Recession),
  23.            the great governor there would rather MINIMIZE the
  24.            government's income & maximize private business's income.
  25.  
  26.            ALOT of people benefit when run by state/federal
  27.            but only a FEW benefit when run by a private business
  28.            in a case such as this.

  30.            A funny rumor has surfaced about this.  Both the
  31.            states of Connecticut & CALIFORNIA are rumored
  32.            to be interested in taking over those toll roads
  33.            in Massachusetts.  Seems they would NOT have to
  34.            pay Massachusetts any TAX money on any profit they
  35.            made but they would have to pay tax to themselves
  36.            & to the Federal government.  Thus helping Massachusetts
  37.            to minimize its income as its Governor obviously wants.
  38.            CALIFORNIA is especially interested.  It plans on
  39.            earning enough money to get rid of it's JUNK FOOD tax
  40.            and thereby prevent the "twinkie riots".  California
  41.            would also use the money to provide better training
  42.            & equipment & support to their police & fire departments.
  43.            They've got some of the best cops in the U.S.
  44.            (my opinion) who could be even better if WE
  45.            support them.

  47.            This whole idea of privatizing what belongs to
  48.            WE the PEOPLE is a good example of why WE the PEOPLE
  49.            have so little to fall back on in tough times.

  51.            Even funnier is how our Government gives away our land
  52.            & our resources to private business for pennies.
  53.            The Government should ALWAYS lease our land & resources
  54.            AND not for pennies.  If WE the PEOPLE tied the salary
  55.            of our elected officials to how well they ran our (business)
  56.            government why....(DON't forget, I'm not an expert).
