  1.    Welcome to the second volume of the Dutch Masters' Library for the
  2. Ensoniq VFX/VFX-SD.  We have been working diligently to craft high-quality
  3. patches for the VFX.  We hope you will enjoy them.
  4.    This volume has been uploaded in compressed format to save space and to
  5. make it convenient for you, the user, to have all six new sounds at one time.
  6.    A common question that I receive from new users is "How do I get these
  7. sounds from my disk to the VFX?"  Since the Ensoniq disk format is not
  8. IBM compatible it is necessary to do a MIDI transfer to the VFX.  This 
  9. assumes that you have a MIDI link to your synth.  It also assumes that you
  10. have the proper software to perform the transfer.  There are a variety of
  11. packages available in the various libraries on the MIDI forum that can do
  12. the job for you.  The way I do it is to use the Cakewalk 4.0 demo package
  13. available in the Demo library.  In the System Exclusive section of the main
  14. menu you can load patches from disk into their librarian and then use the 
  15. Send feature to transmit the patch to the synth.  If you are using another
  16. software package then you should know that all Dutch Masters' .VFX files are
  17. simply system exclusive messages that transmit the patch data to the synth.
  18.    Once the file is in the synth your VFX display will show the name of the
  19. patch.  The VFX is holding the new patch in the compare buffer and is waiting
  20. for you to specify where you wish the patch to go.  Press the bank button
  21. that you wish to store the patch to and hold it.  Then press the soft button
  22. to indicate which of the six slots you wish to write the patch to.  
  23.    That's all there is to it!  If you like Cakewalk then I suggest you 
  24. purchase a copy of it.  The wholesale price was recently reduced to $105...
  25. that $45 off list.  I got my copy through Soundware (800-333-4554).  I don't have any affiliation with Twelve Tone Systems
  26. and I don't receive any commissions.  I simply think it's a good product.
  27. Your opinion may differ.  So be it.  
  28.    All Dutch Masters' patches are prepared using Turtle Beache's Oview for
  29. the Ensoniq VFX/VFX-SD.  This is an EXCELLENT product.  For a peek at what
  30. it can do for you check out the demo in the demo lib.  Again, I have no
  31. obligation to Turtle Beach...I just use their product.
  32.    The purpose of the Dutch Masters' Library is to encourage conversation
  33. and the free-exchange of ideas about the VFX.  I think it's a great synth.
  34. The Library is public-domain, free of charge.  Feel free to pass it on to 
  35. other BBS'es.
