^1A M O S I N A C T I O N .
^7A new book from SOFTWARE DEVELPMENTS.
^4Written by Len & Anne Tucker.
^1Due to be published MARCH/APRIL 1992.
^2HHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
^5This is the book that we have been asked to write for Software
^5Developments.
^4 Their latest publication `The Commercial Games Programmer's Guide'
^4has just been published, and will be of interest to those of you who
^4want to know about what it takes to get into the games market. It
^4includes the telephone numbers of all, yes, ALL the software houses
^4in the UK, as well as these, there are other useful numbers for
^4places such as disk duplicators. The book is not written for any
^4specific computer and will be of use to any hopeful games writer.
^5 We were first contacted by David Gibbons of Software Developments in
^5October, he asked to see examples of our work so that he could see if
^5what we did would be suitable for his idea.
^4 After seeing our Licenseware titles, he thought that Marvin the
^4Martian was the most suited to his plan to publish a book about Amos
^4programming.
^5 The plan was to take a game and strip it down to its bones to show
^5how it was constructed. The aim is to give hints and tips on how
^5certain functions are programmed and explain the things that aren't
^5in the Amos manual.
^4 Marvin the Martian was a game idea created by our daughter Melanie,
^4then aged 13. She helped with the coding and graphics, but all the
^4gameplay ideas are hers. This game has caused us more programming
^4problems that all our other programs put together!
^5 At first we thought that Marvin was comming back to haunt us, but
^5really having had so much trouble with it gives us more to write
^5about! It seemed a rather daunting task at first, but once we sat
^5down and thought of all the angles that could be covered, it wasn't
^5too bad.
^4 There will be plenty to read about programming with Amos,
^4illustrations that we hope will help the text along, and plenty of
^4useful addresses where you will be able to get help with any
^4programming problems and where you can get the things you need to
^4write with Amos.
^5 There will be a disk given away with the book, it will of course be
^5the game, Marvin the Martian, the compiled version as is available
^5from Déjà Vu, and also the souce code which you will be able to
^5follow as you read the book and play with to see how the different
^5routines work.
