-
- AMOS saves IFF files in a more compact form, saving slightly more disk
- space. Since the Albums created by Slide Show Manager will require quite
- a number of IFF files on disk, it could help to have these compacted as
- mush as possible in order to include the maximum number of slides on ine
- disk. "Compacter" enables the user of SSM to load the slides and re-save
- them in a more compact form. Note that this does not change their IFF
- format in any way, and they can still be loaded normally from DPaint.
-
- Since the Album can be made up of a number of slides distributed
- across a number of disks, "Compacter" will need to know which slides are
- to be loaded and re-saved from every disk. This is made easy with the
- program's prompts. It will ask for the numbers of the first slide and
- last slides in the disk. For example, suppose you have a disk with
- slides 13 to 24. Enter "13" as the number of the first slide and "24" as
- the number of the last.
-
- Once this is done, just sit down and watch "Compacter" do the rest.
- You will be able to see every slide which is loaded and re-saved.
