OCR: 3D There are many 3D programs on the market today, Sculpt 4D, 3D Pro, Turbo Silver etc, I could go on forever. It is true that some of these are very good, but one thing we Amiga owners haven't got yet is a standard in 3D rendering. Just as in the DTP scene, with postcript for an example, it revolutionised the DTP market, providing coherent standard. In the same way, a Common, compatible system could change the whole 3D scene as we see it on the Amiga. The Apple Macintosh has just recieved it's standard, called RenderMan. This was produced by the now famous Pixar team, who were responsible for such fantastic 3D animations as Reds's Dream and Tin Toy and RenderMan is now COMMON on many formats. The review in this section is of Real 3D, this uses similar method as RenderMan and is very good, (better than any of the 3D programs so far) but you will have to wait for Imagine, this is an upgraded and rewritten version of Turbo Silver and if rumours are true, will boast the RenderMan interface and will also include 24-bit rendering. It is nearly complete, so look out for a review soon ! (It should be mega !) The Amiga graphics scene is now taking off and we're ready to join the big league Paul+
