ABOUT ENHANCED VERSION:
Some people, include Stéphane Anquetil from the french Dream magazine aks
me to enhance game's graphics. So I create this new version with better
graphics. If you're a graphist, you can enhance the ingame graphics by
loading all IFF graphics in the disks. Contact me if you manage to do
something better. There are some better work in the game too. It's the
final version of Malediction entitled, it's included in the shareware
version. The shareware version costs now 10£ (15$) or 75FF.
IMPORTANT NOTES :
You have received the demo version of MALEDICTION which include the first
easier level. You can write to me to purchase the shareware version. It
costs only 10 Pounds or more if you want. I could give you some presents
if you are generous like more levels etc...
The COMPLETE Version of malediction is composed of the game in its
entirely with all levels, HAM8-mode intro, HAM8-animation, printed manual.

At this day, it is the only *GAME* (Not Demo!) on amiga 1200 who feature
3D mapping. It's the only game available on this machine. It can runs on
all Amiga AGA with 2 Mo Chip minimun. But FAST memory is recommanded to
speed up the game but it works without. The technic of mapping is the
block-mapping, a technic I created. It isn't as beautiful than the normal
traditionnal mapping but it is the fastest way on amiga. Some options in
Config menu can speed up the game, I recommand to try all options to
determinate the best options for your machine.
If MALEDICTION doesn't run on your machine,you would try to active the
options NO BACKGROUND or/and SMALL WINDOW or/and NO MUSIC!
This game was created in 1 year with Blitz basic 2.0 and inbuilt
assembler.
Distribute this demo version to all yours friends because it's the free
demo version but don't sell it. Contact me to have the complete version.
Don't copy the full version. Piracy is a crime who incite developpers to
give up the Amiga ! Thanks. Amiga is the Only One.
STORY OF MALEDICTION:
Once upon a time, the world of Sortilia entrust the Great Mage with the
Stone of Power. But one day, a malefic creature called Xanthior stoll the
Stone of Power preserved by the Great Mage. This Stone gave a lot of
powerfull sorts to his owner, whose Xanthior use to his benefit. Sortilia's
World became rapidly submited by terror, under the domination of Xanthior.
Some hordes of monsters ravaged the country. The Great Mage was prisonner,
locked in the Xanthior's fortress.
The Only Way to beat this malefic creature is to destroy the Stone of
Power. A team of 3 aventurers must be recruit.
You are the leader of this team...

HOW TO PLAY ?
1-INSTALLATION OF THE GAME:
This demo version can be run from the first floppy disk "MAL".
To install it on Hard Disc, you must use AmigaDos :
- copy all files from both disks to a drawer of your HD. Excepted fonts/
and libs/ drawer whose contents must directly be copied in your fonts: and
your libs: drawer and assignments in the HD.
- Assign Mal: and Mal2: to the drawer where you copied the game. It can
run from your HD by clicking the icon.
2-START GAME:
Floppy disk version: Insert the disk called MAL
Click on icon MALEDICTION
HD Version: Go to the drawer where you install the game
Click on MALEDICTION icon
Now you are in a menu screen with some gadgets:
CREATE A GROUP:
Create a group of 3 characters, who you select the race, the class and the
face. Sorcerer and magician have magic powers. Mage and religious have
others magic powers.
READ THE DOCUMENTATION:
It shows you the game utilisation with some screens !
START GAME:
Let's play !
Don't forget to create a group before playing the first time, excepted
if you're using the default one.
Warning ! The game doesn't multitask.
CONFIGURATION'S GAME:
It ables you to config the game in function of your machine:
* Music On/Off : Turn on or off the music during game.
* Window Small/Big : Switch between small or big 3D view.
* Background On /off :Turn on or off the background (low chip memory).
INFORMATION'S GAME:
Status of game, Author, Address, Computer model !
QUIT GAME:
Quit game ! Returns to Workbench.
HOW TO PLAY:
This doc is illustred by screens you can see with button SEE DOC in the
menu of the game.
In docs-screens:
L.B means Left Mouse Button
R.B means Right Mouse Botton
Window game represents the window where the 3D mapped labyrinth appears.
SELECT OPTIONS IN GAME:
On the right of the screen, a left click on the word "Options" select
options menu. Options are:
SLEEP: Characters sleep during 8 hours. They recover all their faculties
p.e. life, endurance, sorts.
SAVE : Save your current game.
LOAD : Load a saved game.
USE : Go to USE-SCREEN. Here, you can use some objects like food,
determinate the sorts for sorcerer, mage etc... You can see the falcuties
of the characters.
EXIT : Quit game. Returns to Wb.
1)IN ACTION SCREEN:
* SELECT A CHARACTER:
Click on his face with the left mouse bouton to select. You can
see his life in red and his endurance in green. To fight you must click
with the right mouse bouton on his hands which are holding arms. If he
misses his punch, it writes "Manqué".
* MOVE / ROTATE:
Click on gadgets to move or rotate on the right of the screen with L.B.
You can also move the mouse's pointer in the 3D window, it will become a
pointer and you could click to move or rotate.
* USE OBJECTS:
On left of screen ,there is the objects list with all objects of
selected character. You take an object with L.B in the objects list. To use
keys, or others objects to open a door for example, you take this object
and click with it on the door.
To place a object or take a object in the labyrinth ,you must place your
mouse cursor in 3D window where the labyrinth appears and click L.B. on
the place of the object (slighty upon the object, the arrow pointer become
different from others).
To use magic objects, you click with R.B.
Magic objetcs are:
Book of sorts (Magician)
Sphere of sorts (Sorcerer)
Yellow or green Cross (Religious and Mage)
If you find scrolls, you must use it in "use screen".
You can change, exchange arms, objects between all characters, excepted
the magic objects (unuasable by others charachters).
* USE SORTS:
Sorts are determinated in "USE SCREEN" (See part 2).
The level of magic determinate the number of sorts available, so in
beginning (in this demo version) your character has no enough magic level
to acces at all sorts.
Click on the magic object of your character to use sorts with R.B. There
are 26 differents sorts divided between sorcerer, magician, religious and
mage. The first sorts create food, phials, give more life, and the others
are destructors sorts to fight monsters. Try them to see their effects!
When you click on a magic object, a menu with all sorts appears:
Click on the sort name to use it with the L.B.
To end magic mode ,click on the item "FIN" with left mouse bouton.
* ACTIVATE A INTERRUPTOR:
Click on on the interruptor in window game.
Interruptors open or close door(s) in the labyrinth.
* OPEN A DOOR:
In order to open a door, you must activate the interruptor or find the
right key which open this door...
* FIGHT MONSTERS:
Your character must hold some arms or have sorts to fight.
Character's dexterity determinate the delay between assaults. Click with
R.B on the arms holding by the selected character to attack. In function of
the character's force and his arms, his punch is more or less important.
You can also use sorts (like Astral,Spiral..) to fight, it is usually more
powerfull but not always.
Monsters are intelligent, as they watch you, they approach to attack you.
But you can meet some persons who are not aggressive...
2) IN USE SCREEN:
To go in use-screen, select in options menu the item "USE" or use the
"purple" button in middle of arrows buttons.
This screen determinate the complete description of all characters.
To change character,click on the head's character with R.B. You can see the
level of life, endurance, intellect, magic, etc...
* CREATE SORTS:
You must use magic objects (like Book of sorts, Sphere, Yellow or green
Cross). Click on them with R.B. to attribute the sorts. A parchment appears
which list all sorts available. To increase the sort's number, use left
mouse bouton, or to decrease, use right mouse bouton. Points represent the
total number of sorts available.
* USE OBJECTS:
To eat, take food with left bouton and click on the face of character with
it. It's the same with all object like scrolls etc...
Scrolls increase the magic level.
Phials of different colors give your character more endurance, life, etc...
Food gives your character more life.
Clothes can't be taken and exchanged.
When a monster is near, you coudn't affect sorts, but you can eat and have
treatment.
* QUIT THIS SCREEN:
To return on action screen, click on gadget "FIN" (with no objet!)
* KNOW BUGS
There are in game 2 know bugs who don't exist in Shareware version.
The first is with the direction paddle.

I hope you understand this doc because I'm french froggy-eater, so I don't
use to write english all the day.... Thanks to Stéphane Anquetil who
reading and correcting this doc and good advices. But by the way, play the
game, the first level isn't difficult at all !
