Text [T font-No input size hor/vert]
Text may be input directly from the keyboard or from a text file on disk. The
text file must have an extension: .GTT Use the built-in text editor (FCT
command in the Graph program or GT in Draw) or any ASCII editor.
The last line of the file must be blank (Just <RTN><LF>).
Fonts:
Two groups are available: Fonts 0-3 and fonts 4-7.
(All fonts from 1 and up are loaded from disk.)
Fonts 0-3:
Font 0 is the standard IBM font. (start-up default)
Font 1 is a "thin-line" variation
Font 2 is a reduced size version of font 1.
Font 3 is user definable using the FONT EDITOR.
(See [GE] command.)
(Twenty graphics symbols can also be displayed. CTRL/A-F and
CTRL/N-Z) within FONT0 and CTRL/A-Z in the other fonts (1-3).
Size:
Four sizes are available.
Select: Normal, High, Wide, Both (high and wide) or Double.
Horizontal/Vertical:
Select: [H]orizontal or Vertical. Text may be typed horizontally or
vertically (Bottom to top).
Colour:
If you are in colour mode, you may select colours Green, Red, Yellow,
Black, Cyan, Magenta or White, using the ALT/Colour keys at any time.
(Each text letter may be a different colour.)
Location:
Use the eight cursor direction keys (number key pad) to locate text.
The default increment is set to 8 or 9 (depending on character size).
By using the ALT/number facility, the increment may be temporarily
altered to finely adjust the start point of the next letter. (Use
cursor keys.) ("number" is 1 to 9) When a letter is typed,
the increment returns to 8 or 9.
Example:
Locate cursor at the lower left of the first character. Type: T
then 0 (Standard font), K (Keyboard input), N (normal)
then H (horizontal text).
A dot indicates the start position of the next letter.
(In the case of vertical text, the cursor will be at the lower right
of the first character.)
Type in the text string and end each line with a <RTN>
When all text has been entered, press Esc to return to the DRAW menu.
Notes on fonts 0-3:
1. The Backspace key is used to rubout the last character entered.
(Don't use the Del or cursor left-arrow key for this.)
2. The default values are obtained by pressing <RTN> key to each
question. The defaults are: font 0, Keyboard, Normal, Horizontal.)
3. The cursor keys can be used any time in text mode
to relocate the dot-cursor for the next character. The
increment is fixed at the character size selected, (8 or 9),
unless ALT/number is used.
4. If the text reaches the edge of the screen, the next character
will wrap to the next line. (Both horizontal and vertical.)
5. The joystick or mouse (if selected) is temporarily disabled
when entering text.
Fonts 4-7:
Font 4 is the same size as fonts 0-3. Fonts 5-7 are larger and are used
for signs, foils and main headings. All four fonts can be in fixed or
proportional mode and scaled 1-9. In proportional mode the text may also be
rotated (0-360 deg.). Graphic symbols are not available in fonts 4-7.
In proportional mode, the dot cursor and backspace is not available.
Text from disk file: (Any ASCII text with filename: name.GTT)
When loading text from a disk file, position the cursor dot at the top left
(first) character position following the command sequence:
T<fontNo>F<filename><RTN><size><rotation><RTN>.
FONT EDITOR (For font 3) (Can also be used for fonts 1 and 2).
Select GE command. The current screen will be saved and the FONT module
loaded. Select font to be edited (normally 3). This will be displayed on
the screen following the standard font 0. Using the function keys as
indicated, the pointer may be changed to any ASCII character in the range
0 - 255. Type L to load current character into the edit panel. This char-
acter may be edited using the D,M and E commands. To save this edited
character back into memory use the save (S) command.
Note: The ASCII pointer must be in the range 128-255 to save a char-
acter. Characters in the 0-127 range can be loaded, (edited if
required) then saved in the 128-255 range by moving the pointer
before saving.
To save the whole font, press Fn 10. The font file may be saved with the
same or any other name. (Normally FONT1 to FONT3).
