Welcome to ExpressCalc. The first version of ExpressCalc was 3.09. Prior
to 3.09, ExpressCalc was distributed under a different name. No new
features have been added to the program yet, but some minor cleanup and
corrections have been made. The following is a brief description of the
changes and additions made since version 3.09:
3.10 - July 12, 1986
--------------------
* Changed the default sort precedence for empty cells from 10 to 90.
This causes empty cells to sort at the end instead of the beginning.
* After using "/Configure,Width" to change the screen width, then
"/Configure,Save" to save the configured parameters, the new screen
width is now saved to the profile.
* PRINTER OFFSET 0 is now allowed in a profile.
* ERROR 55 AT 5690 would sometimes occur when a spreadsheet had an
Xternal which referred to itself. Corrected.
* Reading a File Express database with /Xternal or /Save now examines
the FE data types (!, *, $, etc.) to determine if a field is a value
or text.
3.11 - September 23, 1986
--------------------------
* /Xternal of File Express database would not always detect end of file
properly, because of a bug in the Business BASIC Compiler. This has
been circumvented.
* "Expressware" was changed to "Expressware Corporation" in the banner
screens.
* If the ESC key is pressed when no data has been entered, it is ignored.
* The Control-A key and Control-F key now function as alternate backtab
and tab keys.
3.12 - December 3, 1986
------------------------
* NPV function was not computing properly when the computed range was
across a row. It worked fine when the range was down a column. This
has been fixed.
* ERROR 54 AT 55150 would occur when /Printing to disk and the disk
became full.
* ERROR 6 AT 4420 would occur when DIF file had an excessively large
number. Lotus sometimes would include an invalid number like
1.797693134862316E+308 in a cell. The program now traps error 6, and
puts an ERROR indicator in the offending cell.
* /Print limited the maximum printer width to 255, which prevented wide
spreadsheets from being written to disk and printed with Sideways. The
maximum has now been increased to 999.
3.14 - May 9, 1987
-------------------
* ERROR 5 AT 50062 occurred when the ROUND function referenced a cell in
column AR or line 40. This has been fixed. The same error would also
occur if the user entered an ascii 129 in a text field (129 is a
lower-case u with two dots over it, used in German and other foreign
languages.)
* If a cell was hidden which contained NOPRINT or NOLF, the commands
were ignored. This has been fixed, so that they are in effect
regardless of the hidden attributes of the cell.
* ERROR 5 AT 16420 would occur when a spreadsheet was created with PC-
File export from a database with a superfield. ExpressCalc can handle
text fields up to 75 characters. The program now truncates text
fields greater than 75 characters to the left-most 75.
* /Zap command was not resetting global defaults for decimals,
justify, commas, etc. to their initial values.
3.15 - May 1, 1988
-------------------
* A formula with a format of IF...THEN...ELSE IF...THEN... would be read
as text. If a matching ELSE was added to the end of the formala so
that each THEN had an ELSE, it would be read correctly as a formula.
This last ELSE is no longer needed.
******************************************************************************
Almost all the above enhancements to ExpressCalc have been suggested by
the people who are using it. We listen to every idea that is presented to
us. Most of them make it into a future release of the product. If you have
any ideas or suggestions that you feel would make File Express a better
product, please let us know. We want the program to be the best of its
kind on the market.
Thanks,
Expressware
