  13. NJWIN v1.6 is designed to support any windows program to display
  14. Chinese, Japanese and Korean characters under the standard Windows
  15. environment. All Chinese / Japanese / Korean (CJK) coding standards are
  16. supported in NJWIN, and coding can be switched on the fly from one
  17. coding to another depending on the document being viewed.

  19. The Internet is the fastest growing communication tool today. Therefore,
  20. many of NJWIN's features are added specifically for Internet. As the
  21. result, NJWIN is best Internet CJK viewer for browsing CJK Web pages,
  22. reading CJK news in UseNet newsgroups and reading CJK email messages.

  45. 32 bit applications under Windows NT, Unicode based applications under
  46. both Windows 95 and NT are now supported in v1.6.

  48. Supports All Windows Platforms: NJWIN now supports all windows platforms
  49. including all language versions of Windows 3.1x, Windows 95, Windows NT
  50. 3.5 and 4.0.

  52. Auto Detection of Chinese and Japanese Codes: NJWIIN can automatically
  53. detect Chinese GB, Big5, HZ and ISO-2022-GB encodings, and Japanese
  54. EUC-JIS, Shift-JIS, New-JIS, Old-JIS, NEC-JIS and ISO-2022-JP encodings.
  55. These different codes are supported on the same screen within same
  56. language setting.

  58. Use True Type Font of Asian Windows: If your windows is Chinese or
  59. Japanese Windows, you can configure NJWIN to use your system True Type
  60. Fonts when the code being viewed matches your system fonts.

  62. Support ISO-2022 Encoding and MIME encoding: Due to popular demand,
  63. ISO-2022 CJK encoding is now supported. Two forms of MIME encodings are
  64. also supported, namely Quoted Printables and Base64. This is very useful
  65. for viewing CJK newsgroups and Email header, as User Name and Subjects
  66. are most likely MIME encoded.

  83. Installation and Uninstallation
  84. ===============================

  86. Installation
  87. ------------
  88. If you receive NJWIN in a ZIP file, say NJWINxxx.ZIP (where xxx is the
  89. version number), you need to unzip the zip file into a temporary directory,
  90. then type or run SETUP.EXE to start the installation. Two most popular unzip
  91. programs are: WINZIP available at http://www.winzip.com, and PKZIP available
  92. at http://www.pkware.com.

  94. If you receive NJWIN in a EXE file, say NJWINxxx.EXE, you simply run the EXE
  95. file to start the installation.

  97. On Windows 95 or Windows NT 4.0:  select Run from the Taskbar Start menu, type
  98. the full name of the file (for example, C:\DNLOAD\NJWINxxx.EXE), press the
  99. Enter key, and follow the prompts.

  101. On Windows 3.1 or Windows NT 3.51:  activate the Program Manager, select
  102. Run from the File menu, type the full name of the file (for example,
  103. C:\DNLOAD\NJWINxxx.EXE), press the Enter key, and follow the prompts.

  105. If you receive NJWIN on disk,  simply insert the first disk in drive A:
  106. or B:, then type (or run) SETUP.EXE to start the installation.
  107.  
  108. After starting the SETUP program, the SETUP wizard will guide you
  109. through the installation process.

  111. Uninstallation
  112. --------------
  113. Automatic:  an uninstall program is included to automatically uninstall
  114. NJWIN from your hard disk. The NJWIN uninstall program (REMOVE.EXE) can
  115. found under NJWIN's group folder.
  116.  
  117. Manual:  NJWIN is a small package, all files are installed under one
  118. directory (default \NJWIN). So to manually remove NJWIN from your hard
  119. disk, simply delete all files in the NJWIN directory, and remove all
  120. NJWIN icons on the desktop or folders.
