│ Blast off to a brave new world with Lander for PC CD-ROM and DVD ROM ││
│ with Dolby Digital (TM) sound. No ordinary sci-fi adventure, this is a ││
│ truly unique flying experience which tests your skill against the forces ││
│ of gravity and treacherous environments within the solar system. Take ││
│ command of your very own interplanetary Lander craft, learn to master ││
│ its controls and you may just survive. ││
│ ││
│ Lander has an inspired pedigree, recalling old favourites like Gravitar, ││
│ Thrust, and Lunar Lander, though crucially building on this heritage to ││
│ create an utterly modern experience. Played out in spectacular 3D, Lander ││
│ challenges gamers to master intricate flight dynamics, before jetting off ││
│ to progressively more difficult moons and planets. Flying both above and ││
│ below the surface, there's salvage to recover, seek and destroy missions ││
│ to undertake, puzzles to solve, and a mysterious plot to unravel. ││
│ ││
│ Countless man-hours have been invested in the control system at the ││
│ heart of Lander, with a complex physics model which offers craft handling ││
│ unlike anything else. Using a unique mouse-based system to work the ││
│ craft's thrusters, it gives pilots the ability to navigate with ││
│ unparalleled degree of control. A single burst of thrust can make all the ││
│ difference between life and death. And just when those subtleties have ││
│ been mastered, there's each mission's unique environment and atmospheric ││
│ conditions to deal with, plus the extra challenge of transporting ││
│ mysterious objects and probes using a precarious pendulum type attachment ││
│ which affects the handling of the craft. ││
│ ││
│ Lander is no mindless shoot-'em-up, but then it's no stuffy simulation ││
│ either. Action packed, unique and nail-biting in single-player mode, it ││
│ also offers an incredible multi-player challenge. 16 player Deathmatch ││
│ games can be fought out over a LAN or the Internet, each struggling to ││
│ keep shields intact and fuel supplies topped up while battling it out or ││
│ play co-operatively. Genre busting yet inspired by the gameplay-led ││
│ titles of yesteryear, Lander is nothing less than a giant leap for PC ││
│ gaming. ││
│ ││
│ Psygnosis will be one of the first developers to bring a DVD-ROM game to ││
│ market. The DVD version combines MPEG2 video, Dolby Digital(TM) and 5.1 ││
│ channel interactive sound effects. DVD capabilities include a multiple ││
│ camera angle feature that allows you to switch from FMV sequences to view ││
│ the wire-frame graphics from which they have been constructed. ││
│ ││
│ Lander is developed by Psygnosis. Minimum system requirements - Pentium ││
│ 166 MMX with 32 MB RAM and 3D accelerator card. Recommended system ││
│ requirements - Pentium II 233Mhz with 32 MB RAM and 3D accelerator card. ││
│ ││
│ As you control a jet powered interplanetary Lander, constantly fighting ││
│ the forces of gravity to stay aloft and complete the missions. You are a ││
│ Lander pilot engaged in a series of missions for various research ││
│ organisations to perform different tasks (destroying objects, ││
│ transporting items, solving puzzles). Once you have learnt to master the ││
│ Lander you start to become embroiled in a mysterious plot involving alien ││
│ intelligence which goes back to the very origins of humanity. Features ││
│ strong piloting element with puzzles and adventure. Addictive gameplay ││
│ combined with an eerie immersive storyline. ││
│ ││
│ As you undertake a once in a lifetime journey across the solar system to ││
│ seek your fortune. However, when you are hired to undertake a supposedly ││
│ scientific expedition to an ancient Mayan site on Earth, you embark on a ││
│ far deeper, mysterious and eventually revelational adventure. An artefact ││
│ is discovered. An extraterrestrial object left by some unknown ││
│ civilisation. And the key to it's origin seems to lay among the outer ││
│ reaches of our planets. Powerful corporations want the secret you are on ││
│ the way to discovering, millions are at stake and each faction will stop ││
│ at nothing to discover the key. ││
│ ││
│ The Lander has been designed with extreme manoeuvrability in mind, making││
│ it ideal for use in situations where close control and rapid direction ││
│ changes are required. Before attempting to take your Lander into the air, ││
│ enter the first training mission and let the craft settle on the ground. ││
│ To lift the Lander off the ground, tap the left mouse button to engage ││
│ thrust. The Lander will lift off the ground, then settle back down when ││
│ the engine cuts out. ││
│ ││
│ Tap the thrust button repeatedly to make the craft hover, though don't ││
│ move the mouse yet - just feel how the thrust control responds to your ││
│ taps on the left mouse button. You will only need to move the Lander ││
│ vertically during the first part of the training mission so other planes ││
│ of movement have been disabled. ││
│ ││
│ Once you enter the second part of the mission, the craft's tilting system││
│ is enabled. Move the mouse and observe the indicator in the screen's ││
│ bottom right corner as it changes. The red wire frame shows you the ││
│ actual orientation of the Lander (as the craft is currently on the ││
│ ground, this will not be moving) while the green indicator will be moving ││
│ in relation to the mouse. The Lander's flight system responds to mouse ││
│ movements and tilts the craft in the appropriate direction; however, ││
│ while the craft is on the ground, this system cuts out. Once you take the ││
│ craft into the air, these mouse movements will actually tilt the Lander ││
│ in the corresponding direction. ││

│ The Mars Central Government Agency (MCGA) is the main governing and ││
│ legislative body in the solar system. MCGA is superficially a democracy, ││
