1997 Mid-season, Ribeiro switched from a Lola to a Reynard chassis, giving him his best performances at Toronto where he finished third and Laguna Seca where he finished fourth. Both his qualifying and finishing efforts were season-highs at Toronto and his podium position was his first since winning last year at the Michigan Speedway. At Michigan, Ribeiro had the fastest lap of the race with 30.997 but only managed to come 23rd due to gear problems. At Vancouver he once again managed the fastest lap of the race with 55.769 and finished 10th.
1996 Driving for Tasman Motorsports, he was one of four multiple race winners in the series as well as part of a quartet who was able to win a pole and race during the course of the season. Both his victories came on ovals as he captured the inaugural Rio 400 in his native country of Brazil and added another at Michigan. All three of his career triumphs (1995 New Hampshire) have come on ovals. He won the pole at Toronto, the second of his career but first on the road course. In addition to the victories, he had five other top-eight finishes. Qualified ninth or better in 11 of 16 races and was ranked fifth in the series in laps led (166). He finished 11th in the PPG Cup points (76).
1995 Moved up to the PPG CART World Series with Tasman Motorsports and finished third in the "Rookie of the Year" standings. One of three drivers and the only rookie to win from the pole during the season. Triumph came at New Hampshire, which marked the inaugural fourth in the series in laps led (164). He finished 17th in the PPG Cup championship.
1994 Finished runnerup in the PPG Firestone Indy Lights en route to "Rookie of the Year" honours for the Tasman Motorsports Group. Had four victories (Portland, Mid-Ohio, Vancouver, Laguna Seca) and three other podium finishes. He also notched four pole positions.
1993 Finished fifth in the British Formula 3 championship in his first season with Fortec Motorsport. The season was paced by four podium finishes and two poles.
1992 Finished 10th in the British Formula 3 championship for Paul Stewart Racing. Season highlights came at Silverstone, where he had a top finish of third and also a pole in the final round.
1991 Ran a partial season in the British Formula 3 championship for Paul Stewart Racing. Ran the last six events of the season with a best finish of sixth at Donington Park.
1990 Competed in the Formula Opel European Championship for Team Lotus Nederland. Best finish was second place at Donington Park. He competed in the National Cup with Rubens Barrichello at Spa-Francorchamps and helped the Brazilian team to a second-place showing.
1989 Moved on to the Brazilian Formula Ford championship for Bruno Minelli and finished third in the points standings.
1988 Finshed runnerup in the Sao Paulo karting championship for the third consecutive year. He captured the 2 Hours of Rio de Janeiro with Christian Fittipaldi.
1987 Finished runnerup in the Brazilian and Sao Paulo karting championships. He won the 2 Hours of Interlagos for the second time.
1986 Finished third in the Brazilian karting championship and was runnerup in the Sao Paulo championship.
