4PAK "4 PAK" - the TOS/PRG file compactor. This program packer is similar
in function to other popular packers like the Atomic packer, etc.
Using 4 PAK, you can expect to pack files by around 60% with 4PAK. It
is also frighteningly fast at unpacking. Please note, 4PAK will not
compress all PRG/TOS files. If there are problems with the GEM
header, 4PAK will not compress the file.
A2LSWTC2 A2LSWTCH.PRG (ARC.TTP to LHARC.TTP Switcher!) by Jan Dembowski. This
program allows people who use LHARC and ARC to switch back and forth
between the two compression methods with the least amount of effort.
You can now convert all your *.ARC files to *.LZH oor vice-versa!
ARC2LZH3 ARC <-> LZH version 3.0 by Wayne Watson. The author wanted to
automate the process of converting ARC files to the LZH format. So he
created this little shell program. This utility makes converting
your ARCs to LZH format a snap! FREEWARE!
ARCGSH41 Archiver GEM Shell version 4.1 by Rainer Klute. Arcgsh is a GEM
shell that eases the use of the most popular archiving programs for
the Atari ST (arc, lharc, shar, tar, and zoo). Furthermore the
programs compress, uud, and uue are supported. You can use your
favorite file viewer and your favorite editor from Arcgsh without any
need to leave the program. Docs provided in both English and German
in Tex format.
ARCLIST2 ARCLIST version 0.9 by Kevin Whitham will search downward from either
the current drive/path looking for ARCed files. All files found will
have their contents written out to a file named "ARC_DATA.TXT".
ARC.TPP must be in the same directory for this program to work.
ARCLZH63 Archiv-Lister ST version 6.3 by Stephan Slabihoud - the archive
lister and unpacker utility for all Atari users. Supports the
following formats: ARC, ARJ, LZH, LZS, MOD, TRE, ZIP, ZOO. This
program is SHAREWARE. All docs are in German.
ARCSHL30 ARC Shell version 3.0 by Charles F. Johnson is a GEM program which is
designed to work with the popular ST archiving utilities ARC and
LHARC (LZH). Essentially, ARC Shell adds a GEM interface to the
archiver programs, letting you point and click to select the various
options instead of typing a command line. ARC Shell also contains a
complete GEM-based disk utilities package, that lets you copy files
(with wildcards and with query), delete and rename files, create and
delete folders, show the free space on any connected drive, and even
run other programs...all without exiting to the desktop.
ARJ_995 (UN)ARJ version 9.95, rev. 3.004 by the TOS crew. Claims to be 100%
compatible with R.Jung's ARJ.EXE for IBM. Special features: MODE 1
PACKING, password protection, multiple volumes, diskette user
support, extra verbose, on-line manual, extended repair options,
complete output redirection, fast - at least triple compared to any
other implementation!
ATOM36 Atomik Cruncher version 3.6 by Altair. This utility will compress
both program and data files. Once compressed, the programs will
still be executable. When run they will unpack and load
automatically. This version of Atomik is compatible with Warp 9 and
includes an option to unpack files.
AUTO_501 Automation Packer version 5.0.1 by EGB. This version of the
Automation packer was written because the ICE packer from AXE was
faster than the previous Automation release. This new version of
Automation also includes some source code that will demonstrate how
some of this stuff works.
BELEF Belef II (pronounced: BELL*EFF) version 2.02 - Uncle Carl's Famous
Archive Shell & Converter by Carl J. Hafner. Belef can best be
described as a universal compression utility shell. It is universal
in the sense that it should work with ANY compression utility, past,
present or future! ALL of the functions associated with your
favorite parameter taking compression utility are available, as well
as the ability to convert one form of archival storage file into
another with a minimum of effort! Belef works on all ST/STe/TT
computers in medium and high resolutions.
BOOZGEM3 Booz version 2.1.3 for GEM was written by Michael Alan Dorman and was
based on the original Booz code by Rahul Dhesi. It is designed to be
a basic, memory-efficient extractor for Zoo files. It's designed to
be run from the command line, and has a minimum of options--just l,
t, and x, to list, test, and extract files, respectively. It
currently has some limitations. However it *does* handle the high-
compression Zoo 2.1 files.
BRIKBIN Brik by Rahul Dhesi generates and verifies 32-bit CRC values
(checksums). It is designed to generate CRCs for text files that are
the same on all computer systems that use the ASCII character set,
provided each text file is in the usual text file format for each
system. Brik will also optionally use binary CRCs calculated using
every byte in a file. Such binary CRCs are portable across systems
for binary files that are moved from system to system without any
newline conversion. Brik can be asked to decide by examining each
file whether to calculate a text mode or binary mode CRC for it.
CDC_220 The Chaos Disk Compactor version 2.20 by Miles Vignol is a program
that will turn whole disks into files. Why? Well, some uses could
be to backup entire disks to your Hard Drive, send an entire disk
over a modem, etc. If the ST can read the disk, CDC should be able
to compress it. CDC has been designed to work in any resolution, and
on any ST computer.
COMPRESS Compress is an adaptive Lempel-Zev compression program that was
ported to the Atari platform from the world of Unix. This version
has a default value of 13 bits as the size of the encoding. This can
be changed to 12 by using the -b12 option (see docs).
DARC DARC version 1.1 by Gunnar Teege is a utility for archiving whole
folder trees from the TOS file system into a single file preserving
the tree structure. The contents of the tree is compressed, so that
the archive will need only about 50 to 70 % of the space the tree
needed. The compression and collecting of many files into a single
one is done by the already existing utility ARC. THE ARC PROGRAM IS
NEEDED TO RUN DARC! DARC is only a frame program that runs through
the tree collecting everything it finds and feeding it into the ARC
program.
DECOMPRE DeCompress version 3 by J. Wesolowski is a GEM based utility that
will allow you to quickly extract files from ARC or LZH archives. If
you wish, DeCompress will also delete the original archives once the
files are extracted.
ESSCD63 ESS-Code version 6.30 by Michel Forget was designed to allow computer
users to exchange binary files over computer networks that do not
support the transmission of binary data. ESS-Code is 100% GEM driven
and fully supports the most popular methods of conversion;
UUEncoding/UUDecoding, MIME Encoding/ MIME Decoding, BTOA Encoding/
BTOA Decoding, and SHIP Encoding/ SHIP Decoding. If you get files
from Internet then you will most likely *N*E*E*D* this program.
Shareware!
EXPAND15 Expand-o-matic version 1.5 by Andrew Cullum is a shell for dealing
with a variety of compressed formats. It is automatic in the sense
that when you choose an archive to extract, it examines the filename
extension and determines which archiver to use. It makes unarchiving
a group of files go MUCH more smoothly and much quicker. Shareware!
EZSQUEEZ EZ Squeeze version 1.0 by John Brocha is an old archiver. It is slow
and inefficient by today's standards BUT it can be EXTREMELY useful
if you come across a file that you want to extract that was
originally archived with EZ Squeeze. It doesn't seem to work on the
Falcon and contains no documentation.
FLXAR31A FLEXI-ARC version 3.1a by William Wong is an amazing shell for all
past, present and future archivers. Everytime a new archiver (or a
new version of an existing archiver) appears, many ST owners wait
until their favorite archiver shell program supports the new
archiver. Flexi-Arc can use ANY new archiver from the first day of
it's release. It is adaptable to ANY archiver.
GTARBIN GNU Tar version 1.10 Ported to the Atari ST with MiNT (and without)
by Alan Hourihane. It is a full fledged TAR that can handle
compressed archives rather than uncompressing and then untaring
seperately. Included in the binaries part of the this port is Alan's
compiled version of compress v4.0. MiNT is suggested because it
provides all the facilities neccessary to use this program
successfully. Supporting pipes are essential for the compress/
uncompress function of GNU Tar to work, otherwise all the other
functions should work under standard TOS.
GZIP06ST GNU ZIP version 0.6 byDaniel Eriksson. This is an experimental port
of GNU ZIP for the Atari. There are two different versions, one for
the normal TOS filesystem and one for MinixFS (or similar). The TOS
version hasn't been tested very much, but it should at least give
people without MinixFS a chance to test GZIP out. This version of
GZIP was compiled with GCC v2.3.1 PL1 and MiNTlibs PL25. For
information on the different compile-options used please see the
included Makefile.st file.
HPACK HPACK multi system archiver ported to the Atari ST by Martin
Braschler from the original code by Peter Gutmann. This version is
complete, just about each and every feature should work. HPACK is
available for virtually every system of some importance, and all
versions are REALLY compatible. HPACK uses powerful unix-style
wildcard matching, allows large archives to be split over several
disks, uses powerful public-key encryption ("military grade"), and
allows archives to be secured with a "fingerprint" that ensures that
an archive is not tampered with.
ICE_2_40 Pack-Ice version 2.40 by Axe of Superior is a program packer.
Programs packed with the ICE Packer will automatically unpack and
execute when run from the desktop. Ice Pack is now compatible with
more programs. Try the programs that never worked when they were
packed with any packer. They might work now. (No promises made...)
IMPLODER This little hack is an extremely quick port (by Torbjorn 'Hackbear/
Digital Chaos' Ose) of the Amiga file packer "File Imploder". It is
a program packer similar in function to Atomic or the ICE Packer. It
is very simple to use - install it as a .ttp taking full-pathname.
Then simply drag any file onto the imploder.ttp icon.
LAZA LAZAZ! version 2.00 by Andreas Papula is a very slick and easy to use
GEM shell for LHarc, ARC, ZOO, ARJ & ZIP. The program and docs are
in German but the program is very easy to use. Shareware!
LPAK LPAK version 0.5(beta) by Andrew D. Webber is a little utility that
allows you to compress data files and will then decompress these
files without user intervention whenever they are used. The user
compresses selected files using the supplied packer (LZSS.PRG) and
accesses them as normal when LPAK is installed and active. At
present LPAK only works on data files - i.e. don't use it on program
files (use a program packer on those instead).
MDP_212 Mega Depack release 2.12 - Coded by Mike Watson in 100% 68000
assembler ("who needs compilers to do GEM based programs?"). Mega
Depack will run as either a desk accessory or as a program. This
utility will "unpack" files that were packed with most of the popular
program packers (such as ICE or Atomic). 53 different packers and a
total of 89 different file formats are supported.
MPACK13B Mpack version 1.3 by Hans Streibel. This is a port of the mpack/
munpack programs. mpack/munpack encodes/decodes MIME messages.
munpack is also able to decode uuencoded files. This port runs ONLY
under MiNT on the Atari. The port consists in essence of the unix
version of mpack/munpack - thus, in theory, it should be possible to
send mail from mpack. However this has not been tested.
MSA_2_3 Magic Shadow Archiver version 2.3 allows you to create an image of a
floppy disk as a file on a hard drive - which can be restored to
another floppy later on. Version 2.3 adds the following new
features: Runs in all resolutions under all TOS versions (even
MultiTOS), works on the Falcon030, can be run as a PRG or as an ACC!
*NOTE: Provided for use with the *MANY* demos contained on this CD.
NAUGHTY The Naughty Unpacker version 1.3 by Marinos Yannikos is a tiny little
program that will unpack almost all packed executable programs. If
you try it on a program which isn't packed, in most cases it will
tell you, even though it does not really check for specific unpacking
routines.
NCMP424 This is an ST Port of Peter Jannesen's (N)compress version 4.2
patchlevel 4. (N)compress is an improved version of compress 4.1.
Compress is a fast, simple LZW file compressor. Compress does not
have the highest compression rate, but it is one of the fastest
programs to compress data. Compress is the defacto standard in the
UNIX community for compressing files. Includes source code diffs.
PACSH258 PacShell version 2.58 by Holger Weets is a GEM shell for various
archiver programs including: Zip, Zoo, Lzh, Arc, (UN)Arj, Tar.
Contains only German documentation, but the program has 100% English
text/menus. This version features a bugfix concerning the use of
ZIP. Shareware!
PFXPAK32 PFXPAK Programm-Packer version 3.2 by Thomas Quester is a nice
utility that will take an executable program and apply LZH
compression to it BUT the packed program will STILL BE EXECUTABLE.
Similar to DC Squish but with MUCH BETTER COMPRESSION! All docs are
in German. The program is completely GEM based and easy to use.
POWDEPAK PowerPacker version 2.0 DataDePacker by bITmASTER of TCE is a small
utility that will unpack files that were packed with the PowerPacker
from the Amiga. If you come across a PowerPacked data file you can
now unpack it and examine it. All documentation is in German.
RD_DEMO RD - Resident De/Compressor (Demo) by Si. RD is a file compressor
and decompressor that works automatically with minimal intervention
from the user. Compressed files are read as if they were the
original raw file. This includes the ability to randomly access any
information in the raw file. New files are compressed when they are
created. Compressed files that are opened, then altered before being
closed are recompressed.
SCRUNCH2 ST-Cruncher version 2.0 by "The X-King Arthur". A GEM based cruncher
program from Europe.
SPLITTER Splitter version 2.0 by S.Coates & M.J.Matts was written after a
request from Alan Woodcock (Desktop Services) who wanted to be able
to ship a 1 meg+ scanned image file to another machine via floppy
disks, obviously the size of the file presented a major problem,
especially if it had already been packed with LZH, ZIP or another
archiver. Splitter allows you to overcome this barrier by breaking
the large file into smaller blocks, and then rebuilding it to it's
original form. Shareware.
STZIP26 ST ZIP version 2.6 by Vincent Pomey is an archiver that is 100%
compatible with PKZip 2.04 on the IBM PC, and the Unix Info-Zip
programs Zip 1.9/Unzip 5.0. It features a full GEM interface.
Postcardware! (EVERYONE should register this one)
*NOTE: Provided for use with the ZIPed files contained on this CD.
TAR_1112 This is a port of GNU tar 1.11.2 for MiNT and minix file-systems. The
program has been compiled using gcc 2.4.5 and the mintlibs pl34.
Stacksize has been set to 16 Kb; it may need to be increased. Main
changes since the previous version are: Support for "gzip" instead of
"compress", no more complaints about failed changes to access times
for directories. Ported by Hildo Biersma.
TWOINONE Two-in-One version 1.20 by Gregor Duchalski is an archive shell and
manager for the Atari ST/STe/TT/Falcon that supports ARC, ARJ,
LZH, ZIP, and ZOO. Includes a text viewer module. Can be used
as a GEM application or called from a CLI. The program and docs are
in German.
UNARJSHL UnARJ Shell version 0.2. by R. J. Darling is a simple shell program
to make the use of UnARJ very simple. A lot of people prefer to use
a shell than to mess around with command line parameters. This shell
is designed for use with UnARJ v2.21 by Jiri Lamac. It will not work
with any other versions of UnARJ as far as I am aware.
UNLZH172 UNLZH version 1.72 by John Harris is a program for extracting .LZH
archive files. UNLZH combines an easy to use, GEM based interface
with high speed extraction routines, to give you a much simpler and
much faster way to extract LZH archives. It is a self contained
program - you do not need to have LHARC or any 'shell'. It is written
in 100% Assembly language and extracts approximately four times
faster than LHARC. UNLZH can search past damaged sections of an
archive, and should be able to extract the rest of the files.
UNZIP51B The Info-ZIP group's portable UnZip zipfile-extraction program
version 5.1 beta (and related utilities). UnZip is an extraction
utility for archives compressed in .zip format (also called
"zipfiles"). Although highly compatible with PKWARE's PKZIP and
PKUNZIP utilities for MS-DOS (in addition to Info-ZIP's own Zip
program), the primary objective of this program are portability and
non-MSDOS functionality.
UUX789 This is uud.ttp version 3.3 and uue.ttp version 3.1 as compiled
(ported) on the ST by Steve Yelvington. The programs are full
implementations of UUencode and UUdecode. They are named uud and uue
instead of uudecode and uuencode to avoid confusion between different
implementations of the programs.

** Atari ST Benchmark Utilities **
** /UTILITY/BNCHMARK/ **
*************************************************************************
STFPUTST MC68881 Test Utilities. Two programs that perform a simple test to
determine if an MC68881 FPU (Math Coprocessor) chip exists, and if
so, if it is working. These programs have only been tested on the
MC68881 mapped into memory as a peripheral device (e.g. installed on
the ICD AdSpeedST board or on the Atari SFP004 Floating Point
Coprocessor board). Both programs perform floating point
calculations for ten seconds and then display a "speed factor" which
is proportional to the number of calculations performed.
STKONF_E STKONFIG version 3.10 by Roland Voss provides the system information
about your ST/STe/TT computer. It tells you virtually everything
that is installed or going on inside your ST. Includes both English
and German documentation.
*************************************************************************
** Atari ST Boot Utilities **
** /UTILITY/BOOTUTIL/ **
*************************************************************************
ACC13 Accessory version 1.3 by Murray Levine is a program that will let you
load all of your accessories out of a folder called ACCS on the boot
drive instead of loading them out of the root directory of the boot
drive. This helps to keep your main directory less cluttered
especially for hard drive owners.
ACCSLOAD ACCSLOAD version 1.0 by Marcus Haebler is designed to work together
with the 5.5.0 version of the ICD hard disk-driver. This driver is
able to execute the AUTO-folder from the partition you want if you
press the corresponding key while booting. Now you can have multiple
AUTO Folder setups - each on a seperate partition and use whichever
one you desire.
ACC_ACE2 Accessory Ace version 1.2 by Kent Kordes. Just put Accessory Ace in
an AUTO folder, and It will allow you to choose the accessories you
want on the desktop. Accessory Ace is simple to use just follow the
online menu. Accessory Ace supports up to 500 accessories and works
in both color and monochrome.
BOOT162 Booter version 1.62 by Steven Lee is a simple bootup configuration
program for managing accessories and programs in the AUTO folder. It
supports up to ten configurations. Booter should be the first
program in the AUTO folder. Any programs that execute before Booter
will not be managed.
BOOTSIE Bootsie by Stefan Krey writes some useful and often needed code to
the bootsector of drive A:. It allows also to put your own bootcode
into the bootsector. Contains both English and German documentation.
BOOTXBIN BOOT-X version 1.2 by Dieter Fiebelkorn lets you decide which
configuration setup you wish to load (Auto programs and ACCessories)
at boot up. Includes English and German documentation.
BOOTXS22 BootXS version 2.20 by Christer Gustavsson helps you select what
should be loaded at boot time. This version handles DA's, CPX's,
autoloading programs, desktop.inf / newdesk.inf files, assign.sys
files, MiNT configuration files (mint.cnf), GEM configuration files
(gem.cnf), MiNT filesystems (.xfs) and MiNT device drivers (.xdd).
It's completely Gem-based, and very easy to use. Shareware!
DESKCHNG Desktop.inf Change Program by Michael E. Valdez. This program,
placed in the AUTO folder of your boot disk will test the resolution
you are booting into and change the DESKTOP.INF file for whatever you
want. The program requires that you produce three files or less, if
you do not work in all resolutions; let us say, you need one file for
each resolution you use.
DESKSWIT Desk Switch by Charles F. Johnson is a versatile and powerful little
program, that lets you instantly switch from one desktop setup to
another. Desk Switch reads .INF files created with the GEM desktop's
'Save Desktop' function, and sets every parameter saved in the file.
It can be run as an ordinary program (by double-clicking from the
desktop), or as an "Installed Application" from the desktop or from
CodeHead Software's HotWire. Shareware!
EASYBOOT Easy-Boot version 1.0 by Steve Wells is, as the name suggests, a very
simple, no-fuss, no-frills Bootup manager, that can turn programs in
your AUTO folder, ACCessories, and CPX (X-Control modular
accessories) on & off, and it can also select different ASSIGN.SYS
files for GDOS, and alternative Desktop setup files (Which can be for
the TOS 1.xx desktops, New-Desk (TOS 2.xx to 4.xx), or even for
things such as TeraDesk, Neo-Desk and other replacement DeskTops!).
Shareware!
HAZEL_4 H.A.Z.E.L. by Henry K van Eyken is adaptation of a golden oldie named
H.A.Z.E.L. by the original author, Mr. Greg Knauss. It facilitates
trying out or experimenting with a variety of desktops. It is a
boot-up, TSR program that takes first spot in the AUTO folder. If one
presses the left shift key during booting up (after the harddisk
sign-up messages have gone by), Hazel stops to offer a choice of
desktops for which appropriately named desktop .INF files have been
prepared. If the key is not pressed, the arrangment used in the
previous session comes up.
MEGMATIC MEGA-Matic version 1.15 by Lloyd E. Pulley, Sr. is another boot
configuration program. Unlike some other boot config programs that
FORCE you to enter whcih config you want every time you boot, MEGA-
Matic will default to a certain configuration if it doesn't receive
any input from you within a few seconds. This means you can still
select any boot configuration you want, when you want but you can
also have the machine boot unattended (and it will use a pre-
determined confiuration you have chosen). Shareware!
MOUSEBT1 Mouse Boot version 3.D by Scott R. Lemmon is an Accessory, Auto-boot,
Desktop, and Assign.sys file manager. It will switch accessories and
auto-boot programs on or off, copy Desktop.inf and Assign.sys to the
root directory of the boot drive, or even allow you to set-up two
user defined file types to be copied to any active drive.
Additionally, Mouse Boot will hold up to 20 presets of the most
commonly used file combinations allowing you to quickly select them
upon boot-up. Except where a name or path must be entered, all of
this can be done without touching the keyboard! Shareware!
SPBT81 Superboot version 8.1 Gordon W. Moore - latest version of the premier
shareware boot manager.
TUBS_332 TUBS (The Ultimate Boot Selector) version 3.32 by Andreas Alich is a
boot configuration program for all versions of TOS. It will activate/
deactivate auto folder programs, accessories, and let you select
which Desktop.inf, Assign.sys, and Mint.cnf file you wish to use. The
program and all docs are in German. Shareware!

** Atari ST Disk Utilities **
** /UTILITY/DISK/ **
*************************************************************************
ABFORMAT ABFormatter by Gregg Hungerford is a floppy disk formatter for 1 or 2
floppy disk drives. As ABFormatter is in itself a multitasking
program, both drives are formatted independently of each other and
don't require the same set up. Non-critical bad sectors are mapped
out of the File Allocation Tables. Shareware!
ACACHE Acache version 1.1 by Harm Jetten is a disk cache program for the
Atari ST that keeps 16 floppy disk sectors in memory. Only drive A:
is cached. Acache is write-through; all disk write requests are
immediately written to the floppy. In order to keep the number of
cached sectors low and memory requirements reasonable, only requests
for ONE sector are cached. This results in caching FAT sectors, root
directory, subdirectories and small files, and prevents the cache
being flushed after e.g. loading a large program.
ALASPEC ALASPEC.PRG by M. SARO is a public domain utility program that will
format and copy ALADIN and SPECTRE disks. The program operates in
both English and French and has documentation in both languages.
ANALYSER ANALYSER version 1.2 by Roger Burrows is a simple ACSI/SCSI device
scanner. ANALYSER is a program that will scan the peripheral bus(es)
on STs, TTs, and Falcons. On the ST, it scans the ACSI bus; on the
Falcon, it scans the SCSI bus; on the TT, it scans both the ACSI and
SCSI buses. It issues an INQUIRY command to each possible device id
in order to determine if there is a device at that id and, if so,
what type of device it is.
ARCBIT ARCBIT is a utility program that will set or reset the archive bit on
all normal files within a user-supplied directory. This allows any
backup program that uses the archive bit to skip over or backup the
files that the user has flagged with the utility. This is especially
useful for that folder nested deep within the backup pathway, full of
files that you do not want to backup. Some of the routines within
may be useful for toggling individual files, such as BASIC's random
files, which seem to effectively elude detection by some backup
programs even though they have been modified. The LDW Basic source
code included.
ARGUS Argus & Xargus were written to provide an easy way to keep track of
what a program currently running is doing (reading) on the disk.
Argus intercepts the Bios call RWABS (see you bios doc) and displays
the parameters. It also displays the address from where the bios was
called, as well the error number returned by the bios. Xargus does a
similar thing to the XBIOS call Floprd. (Xbios call #8)
ASHELL ASH (A SHell) version 0.70 by Jerry Nowlin. This program provides a
CLI (Command Line Interface) to be used instead of the normal GEM
desktop. The built-in ASH commands are very similar to equivalent
UN*X commands where that comparison applies. This version of ASH has
I/O redirection built into the built-in commands.
BACKUP A couple of files from R.Ritter that have been developed to help
manage disks for the Atari ST: BKUPSEL.TTP - Prepares a shell script
(for MT C-Shell) that will back-up the selected volume into a library
file for ARC.PRG. BACKUP.SH - This is a simple shell script for MT
C-Shell that will back-up the contents of volume or subdirectory,
using the PD program ARC.TTP and BKUPSEL.TTP. Includes C source code
for BKUPSEL.
BACKUP12 Hard Disk Backup Utility version 1.2 by David B. Chiquelin. This
hard drive backup utility is designed to perform a file based backup
of hard drives. It will not perform an image backup, but will speed
the backup process by only backing up new files and those files which
have been modified since the last backup. Old versions of files
which have been modified are NOT maintained on the backup disks.
Hard disk files which have been modified or deleted are deleted from
the backup disks and the freed up disk space is used to store the
current version of the modified files and new files. Shareware!
BACKUPST BACKUPST - A backup program for the Atari ST by F.J.R. Appelman.
BackupST is a backup program for the Atari-ST. It writes the hard
disk data to floppy disks. BackupST has 3 modes in which it works;
creation (backup), listing or extraction (restore). The floppies
written by BackupST are in a proprietary format, and are NOT readable
by GEMDOS. You need BackupST again to read the floppies.
BITMASTR BitMaster version 1.05 was designed to create and modify special
track formats. Special track formats include high density disks or
non standard formats such as on protected disks. BitMaster is not
designed with the beginner or intermediate user/programmer in mind.
It must be combined with knowledge about track formats in order to
effectively use it to it's full potential.
BLITZ145 Blitzschnell Hard Drive Defragmenter and Optimizer version 1.45 by
Erin Matthew Monaco. Written in 100% assembly language, Blitzschnell
is compact and offers the speed not found in programs written in high
level languages. Shareware!
BLRUT17 A collection of 24 utilities by Bud Rasmussen - all written in 68000
assembly language using the ASSEMPRO assembler from ABACUS. All of
these utilities are interactive, which means that all the information
they need from the user will be requested at run time, so all the
user need do, is run them, and reply to the queries. Most of these
are disk related utilities.
BOOTINFO Bootinfo is a simple desk accessory written by J.B. Lancashire that
will help you identify different disk formats. To use it you must
copy the file BOOTINFO.ACC to the root directory of the disk you boot
up with. Next time you switch on or press the reset button the
utility will automatically be loaded and installed.
BOOT_ED8 genuwax Boot Editor version 8.0 will allow you to dump your boot-
sectors under Gem environment. You'll be able to test for the
presence of viruses.
BRDLFRMT FORMAT version 2.04 has the following features: program and accessory
in one file; as an accessory it can format disks in the background;
can create MS-DOS compatible disks; can create immune (virus
resistant) disks; can use an external bootsector file as prototype
bootsector; formats in reversed order; can format two disks at once.
BULKCOPY The Compulsive Bulk Copier by John T. Grieggs is a utility intended
for massproducing microfloppy diskettes. The basic operation of the
Compulsive Bulk Copier once it has been started is quite straight
forward. First, you are given the opportunity to insert a source
disk or exit the program. The program will scan the format of the
entire disk, and the attempt to load the entire disk into memory. If
the disk does not fit, the operation is aborted. Once the disk has
been loaded, you will be given the opportunity to insert a
destination disk or exit. This step will be repeated until you exit.
You then have the opportunity to load another disk or exit the
program.
BYTEFR33 Bytefree version 3.3 by Darin Wayrynen. This is the third version of
Darin Wayrynen's hard drive free space listing program. He wrote the
first one so that he could find the free space on all available
partitions of his hard drive (very helpful for bbs maintenance) and
it wasn't very fast. The third version is faster, and has replaced
the tos based interface with a gem interface. The program is fairly
unique in that it is both a desk accessory and a program at the same
time. Shareware!
CACHE Floppy Disk Cache by Eric Gisin. A disk cache is resident program
that speeds up disk IO by keeping a copy of recently used sectors of
the disk in RAM memory. It is similar to a RAM disk but has the
advantage that files are always up-to-date on the disk. You can't
lose files like a RAM disk does when the system crashes. This cache
will typically eliminate from 50-85% of disk IO if enough cached
sectors are installed. There is a slight CPU overhead in copying
sectors to the cache after disk IO.
CACHEV35 Cold Hard Cache 3.5 by Robert E. Owens III is an easy to use disk
caching program that works with both hard drives and floppies. Disk
caching improves disk I/O speed by keeping the sectors that are used
most frequently in RAM. The I/O speed of a cached drive will be
between that of a RAM disk (very fast) and the uncached drive (much
slower than a RAM disk). Cold Hard Cache was designed to be as
small, reliable, and as fast as possible. The program buffers reads
only. All writes go directly to disk unless the sector is already in
the cache and the data has not changed.
CDPLAY Audio CD-Player version 1.0 by Alexander Seitz is a program that will
allow you to use your Audio CD capable SCSI CD Rom drive to play
audio CDs. The program was apparently developed and tested on a 1040
STe with an ICD AdSCSI Plus and a Sony CDU541 CD Rom Drive. All
documentation is in German.
CDROM This is Atari's Falcon compatible XFS CDROM driver. It is launched
by MiNT during boot-up. Simply place in the root of your boot disk
(usually C:) and rename CDROM#$.XFS Where # is the drive letter you
wish to use and $ is 8+ the selected SCSI address. Requires MiNT.
CH3_CDAR Compact Dir 3 (CD3) by Chet Walters. This is a quick and dirty way
to get a nice compact printout of your hard drive directory. Good to
use just before a back up or just to keep a record. It uses the
smallest printing mode of both the HP Deskjet (and I assume the HP
LaserJet) and also superscript mode of an Epson compat. This baby
will fit a list of about 10 meg worth of files (8 meg with an Epson)
onto ONE PAGE for easy cross referencing and quick referencing. CD3
has been made compatible with the CDAR 504 and MetaDOS. Shareware!
CHKHD81 CHECKHD version 8.1 by Claus Brod, Anton Stepper monitors important
hardware values of hard disks available for the ST and times access
and transfer rates. It was written to create a low-level standard
test for hard disks. CHECKHD is a GEM program and should therefore
be easy to use.
CONVERT Format Converter 1.0 by Lonnie Dwayne Webb was written to convert the
boot record of old TOS diskettes to IBM standards. It also permits
the user to write the Neodesk boot record. In case you haven't found
out already, *OLD* TOS machines not format IBM disks without some
help. The first sector (boot sector, or boot record as Norton puts
it) is written differently. This program will write a boot sector to
your floppy disk that will allow an IBM to properly read it.
Shareware!
COPY2 Multitasking Copy version 1.0 is, as the name implies, a multitasking
copy program. It is a GEM Desk Accessory so it can be called up at
any time. The program and all docs are in German.
COPYCART ATARI Megafile 44 Cartridge Copy version 1.05 by Anton Raves. This
utility program enables the user of an Atari Megafile 44 to copy a
SQ400 cartridge with just one drive for backup purposes. The program
runs on every Atari ST computer, although the number of cartridge
swaps will reduce with larger memories available. On a Mega ST4
you'll have to swap 13 times, taking about 15 minutes. If you have a
second Megafile 44, it will take only 2 minutes 47 seconds to copy an
entire cartridge.
CPBOOT CPBOOT.TOS. This program is designed to copy an executable boot
sector from a disk of one type of format to that of an other.
Basically all CPBOOT does is to read both the source and target boot
sectors from respective disks, copies from the source the branch
code, filler, and the boot sector code to the target sector. Then a
call to Protobt() is made in order to adjust the checksum for an
executable boot sector, which is then written back to the target
disk.
CSTAMP CopyStamp version 1.00 by Theo Driever is a little utility to
'adjust' date and time info associated with a file. After starting
the program the fileselector box appears. Simply click on a 'from'
file and on one or more 'to' files. Choose 'cancel' to select a new
'from' file, twice to leave the program. Freeware!
DBACKUP dbackup by Andrew Olausson is a backup program primarily targetted at
people who have relatively large removable medias. Normally, a
backup program is often dedicated for a specific removable media
which, in face of evolution, at some time from the point of design
and creation cannot support a new media. The author has tried to
eliminate any such dependencies and the program should work on any
media. It has been tried with mixes of hard disks, floppies, and a 10
Mbyte removable floppy disk unit.
DBLEFEAT DabbelFeature version 1.0 by Claus Brod serves a twofold purpose:
First, it disables or enables the display of growing and shrinking
boxes when dialog boxes or windows are opened and closed. Second, it
can redirect drive accesses. Shareware!
DCACHE DCACHE by Atze Dijkstra is a disk cache and as such keeps copies of
transferred disk blocks in memory. Generally speaking, a cache can
be a good and more flexible alternative for ramdisks. DCACHE is
one of many disk caches available but can be configured in several
ways. It's behaviour can also be influenced after the cache has been
installed.
DCDSKINF DC Disk Info version 1.0 by Keith Gerdes (Double Click Software). DC
Disk Info is used to give you a quick 'snapshot' of any disk. You
will get visual representation of the file allocation on your disk,
plus certain statistics about the disk. Freeware!
DCFLIGHT DC FLIGHT aka DC F-Light aka DC Floppy Light version 1.0 by Keith
Gerdes & Michael B. Vederman (Double Click Software). DC FLIGHT
installs a routine into the read/write vector (RWABS) of storage
devices - floppy disks, hard drives, ramdisks, etc. Each time such a
device (all with the exception of the floppy) is accessed, the floppy
drive A light will come on until the operation is finished. Freeware!
DCFMT302 DC Format version 3.02 is a floppy disk formatter. DC Format will
format regular Atari disks (with or without IBM compatible boot
sectors) or Spectre/Magic Sac format disks. Freeware from Double
Click).
DCMAXTRK DC Max Track version 1.0 by Keith Gerdes and Michael B. Vederman
(Double Click Software). Have you ever wondered how many tracks your
floppy disk drive can format? Wonder no more, DC MAX TRACK will tell
you how many tracks your floppy disk drive can handle.
DCOPY36 DCOPY Version 3.6. Original DCOPY by Ralph Walden, updated versions
by L. Novak. DCOPY is a "shell" that will let you do many things
with your drives including copy files, ARCing/unARCing files, viewing
text files, etc. This version includes 57 bug fixes and/or added
features compared to Ralph Walden's original version.
DFORMAT Diamond Format version 1.0 by Robert D. Luneski. At last! The speed,
flexibility, and reliability of Diamond Back II's custom formatter in
a standalone form. Provided in both PRG and ACC form, Diamond Format
has all the standard features you find in a formatter plus a few new
twists. You can choose 1 or 2 sides, 80 or 82 tracks, twisted or
normal format, and 9,10 18 or 20 sectors per track, verify or no
verify. Click on the appropriate buttons to select your choice and
then click on the Foramt A or Format B buttons to begin. Control-C
aborts the format at any time. ST Careware from Oregon Research
Associates. Please support all your ST Careware authors.
DF_SUITE A suite of disk<->file transfer/backup utilities by Alan Evans.
Sectman - the sector manager allows the transfer of specified sectors
(512 bytes) from DISK <--> MEMORY BUFFER or from FILE <--> MEMORY
BUFFER. Hdqbur - Hard disk quick backup and restore utilizes
techniques similar to Sectman to quickly back up a hard disk
partition onto big files on floppies. Dft - the Disk-File transferer
is similar to Sectman in concept except that it is designed to shift
FILE<-->FILE, DISK--->FILE or FILE-->DISK or DISK<-->DISK but without
requiring enough free ram to hold all transfer bytes simultaneously
in memory.
DISKCAT Discat version 1.0 by Matt Leber is a cataloging program for your
floppy disk collection. It will keep track of what is on each of
your floppy disks and even print out labels for you to put on each
floppy that indentifies what is on the disk. Shareware!
DISKDOUB Disk Doubler version 1.0 by Steven Grimm. This program allows users
with double sided disk drives to store two single sided disks on one
double sided disk. It will copy from either side on either floppy to
either side on either floppy. It's mainly useful for archival
purposes; one double sided disk can take the place of two single
sided disks.
DISKEDIT DiskEdit Version 1.0 by Ken Smith (kks) is a disk editor for the
Atari ST. DiskEdit allows you to peek and poke around your disks in
file mode or BIOS sector mode . The ability to view and modify the
disk using XBIOS (hardware) parameters is also supported. DiskEdit
was written in 68000 assemblers using the A-Seka assembler from Kuma.
DISKMECH DiskMech by Doug Olson/MDS Development is a very powerful disk
analyzing, archiving, and editing tool. DiskMech offers features
that no other disk editor does, such as: Sector Editor - You can read
and edit any sector regardless of the size, track number, or side
number. Format Editor - You can create any type of sector layout,
custom ID fields, specify gap lengths, control CRCs, and many other
options. Analyze disks for abnormal formats. DiskMech also offers a
full range of backup utilities. Shareware!
DISKMON DISKMON by Juerg Moeckli is a public domain disk monitoring program
for the Atari ST. It lets you examine a disk sector by sector, edit
a disk's contents, and much more. The program and all documentation
is in German.
DISKTOP2 DiskTop 2 by Todd Burkey is the predecessor to Todd Burkey's
DiskScan. DiskTop is great for folks who just want to keep track of
what's on their disk and don't care about the extra bell's and
whistles (and menu options) that DiskScan offers.
DIVERT13 Drive Divertor version 1.30 by Stuart Coates allows you to run
software that is designed for floppy only systems off of a hard disk.
This is achieved by intercepting any disk accesses at GEMDOS level
before the Operating System gets its hands on them. When a command
is intercepted it is examined to see if it needs diverting, it not
the command is executed as normal otherwise it is modified and then
executed.
DKLOG Disk Logging Desk Accessory by Keith Bedford is a utility that logs
all disk i/o and display as required. The RWABS vector will
revectored to the program and all subsequent i/o routed through it.
Details of each i/o will be logged, including the time between
actually initiating the i/o and a response being received. When the
memory buffer is full (120 entries as released) logging wraps around
to the start of the buffer.
DOCP docp version 1.1 by Roy Bixler is a directory-oriented copy program.
It gives you better control over which files you can copy or move.
In the simplest case, all files are copied from the source directory
to the target directory. A list of files can be specified to limit
what is copied. This list can have wild-card file specifications
(default list = *.*) and may be applied against either the source or
target directory (default = source). If a file specification in the
list starts with a '-', it is excluded from the copy. File dates and
times can be used to limit the file list. Recursive copies are also
supported.
DRFLOPPY Dr. Flop E. Disk puts you in command of your disk drive. This
utility allows you to view and manipulate your data -- something all
programmers find useful and often, indispensable. Written entirely
in machine language, the program runs under TOS, and accesses GEMDOS
and extended BIOS routines. It's very easy to use. In fact, it
performs some tasks automatically.
DRIVEOFF DriveSaver by B. Schob is written for all those who have an auto-
booting hard disk. The way autobooting works is when the computer is
first turned on it looks for a disk in drive A:. If there is no disk
in drive A: it times out after 40 seconds or so and then looks at
drive C: if a hard disk is attached. However, the Atari does not
turn off the drive after timing out. It will continue running until
a disk is inserted into drive A:. This program turns off the drive!
DSCAN12 DiskScan version 1.2 by Todd Burkey is first and foremost a utility
that lets you 1) archive file information quickly and painlessly and
2) easily find the files at a later date. Other features include
viewing files, hexdumping files, tagging for copying and or deleting
groups of files, renaming files, changing protections on files,
invoking external programs, and sorting files. Shareware! (When you
register, you will get version 2.0 which is much more advanced and
optimized).
DSKCHR33 Disk Chart version 3.3 by Ron Sanborn was originally written as a
quick solution to display Hard Drive partition space for the author's
personal use. Diskchart has been through several overhauls since
it's first release: it now includes the ability to print the reports,
fixed a bug to provide better graphing compatibility with TOS 1.4,
and has been optimized for faster program execution. Shareware!
DSKSWICH Desk Switch - The Ultimate Read-Only Control Panel by Charles F.
Johnson is a versatile and powerful little program, that lets you
instantly switch from one desktop setup to another. Desk Switch
reads .INF files created with the GEM desktop's 'Save Desktop'
function, and sets every parameter saved in the file. It can be run
as an ordinary program (by double-clicking from the desktop), or as
an "Installed Application" from the desktop or from CodeHead
Software's HotWire. Shareware!
DUALFORM Dual Formatter by M. Murray creates floppy disks that can be used on
both single sided and double sided floppy disk drives by formatting
the disk in a special way. A special folder named "SIDE_2" will be
on the disk. Any file(s)/folder(s) located inside the "SIDE_2"
folder will not be readable by single sided drives, but will be
readable by double sided drives. The rest of the entire disk is
readable by both double and single sided drives. Shareware!
DUBL_VIS The Double Vision Formatter by Samuel Streeper. The Double Vision
formatter formats disks such that they are readable on both single
and double sided disk drives. Single side users will have access to
400K of data, while double sided users will be able to read the
complete 800K disk. Double Vision can be run as a program or a desk
accessory.
D_MONIT Disk-Monitor version 1.4 by Volkmar Meineke is a public domain disk
monitoring program for the Atari ST. It lets you examine a disk
sector by sector, edit a disk's contents, and much more. The program
and all documentation is in German.
EGALE Égale version 2.1i by David Reitter - The tool for easy file
comparisons, alteration and analysis. Two files are loaded in each
window and displayed side by side, adjacent to one another, with the
window divided vertically. Égale can also load a single file so that
you can analyse its format or amend it. This feature turns Égale into
a binary editor for patches and similar applications. Any file size
up to the limit imposed by the available working memory in your
machine can be loaded. Shareware!
ELFBAK23 ELFBACK version 2.3 by E.L.F Software provides an easy way to do hard
disk backups and restores to floppies (requires TOS 1.4 or better).
It can use data compression to reduce the number of floppies needed,
and stores files in RAM to speed up I/O. It uses the "archive bit"
in the file directory to indicate that the file has been archived
(for use with incremental backups). It also allows you to inspect
each floppy before you write on it, and to either reformat, erase
(faster than reformatting), or use the remaining space on the floppy
and preserve the existing files. Shareware!
FATMAP12 FAT-MAP version 1.2 by Jens Brüggemann is a utility that will analyze
the layout of your disk (maps out the FAT table). It is a very handy
utility. The program and all documentation is in German.
FDF sfdf - sorted find duplicate files version 1.01 by Roy Bixler. This
program finds duplicate files on your disk(s). It is possible to
specify multiple disks and see duplicate files across disks. You
have control over criteria for finding duplicate files and the order
in which the duplicates are presented. For the really business-like,
there is an interactive delete mode that presents you with menus
asking which of the duplicate files to delete. As an option, a
statistical summary of the duplicate files is printed out at the end.
FDI FDI by Rod Waehner is a program to help you catalog your library of
"floppy" disks and the files that reside on each disk. It does not
use windows, drop-down menus, fancy colors, or any of that neat
stuff. It does give you a complete index of the files you have, what
disks they are on, when they were last updated, and lots of room for
descriptions and comments. And, it's free!
FFIND_10 Filefinder version 1.00 by Ian Morrison & Al Hubbard is the easiest,
most full featured, fun to use cataloguer you can find! It was
written to fill a void in the Atari ST world. Yes, there are other
disk cataloguers out there, but all of them left us longing for one
which is fun, easy to use, and complete. FILEFINDER will catalogue
your disks and the files they contain. It will display ALL files,
even hidden or system files. It will show you these file attributes,
as well as the time of creation and size of each file. It will
enable you to keep track of all these program and data files and find
them when required. Shareware!
FILEVIEW FileView version 1.0 by Paul Gardner/Hueysoft is a handy utility
program that allows you to look at and change the contents of any
file. The display shows 80 bytes at a time in decimal, hexadecimal,
and character formats. In addition to allowing individual bytes to
be altered the user may pad bytes onto the end of the file. FileView
includes on-line help summarizing its concepts and commands.
Shareware!
FINDER10 Finder verion 1.0 by Bill Aycock is a simple utility that can help
you locate a file that contains a particular combination of words or
phrases. You can specify up to three phrases to look for, and Finder
will search all the files in a folder looking for one which contains
any or all of the phrases.
FLASHFMT Flash Format by Steve Crunk. What's faster that a speeding bullet?
Faster that TWISTER? This little program reveals and exploits an
oddity with the XBIOS format command. It can format disks in such a
way that they can be read/written to MUCH faster than even Twister
format disks can.
FLCAT_14 The File Catalog version 1.4 by Randy Hoekstra is a simple utility
that keeps track of the files on a disk or hard drive partition and
allows you to monitor changes to your files. The program reads in
all the files on a disk or partition and stores them in a file.
Later, a new list can be generated and the old and new lists can be
automatically compared to see what has changed. The 'delta' of the
old and new file lists will show all files that have been deleted,
added, or changed (size or date). Shareware!
FLIP Flip is a small copier that was originally written to: use the back
of SS disks and try to save data from damaged disks (because the
author was getting frustrated with the abort message of DCFORMAT).
However, it evolved into one of the best disk copiers on the ST for
unprotected disks. It is completly public domain. Includes source
code.
FLIPSIDE Flip Side version 1.0 by Derrick A. Hall will allow you to use double
sided diskettes on your single sided drives. On a single sided
drive, only side one is accessible, while side two is not. Side one
and two of FLIP SIDE formatted diskettes are fully double sided drive
compatible. Meaning that you will be able to access both sides on a
double sided drive.
FLRMT3_5 Floormart! - The Ultimate Disk Formatter version 3.5 by S. Orandi and
S. Tringali. What can Floormat do that the others can't? Well, the
big thing is that it can unformat a disk. How many times have you
gone to format a disk and found out that you stuck the wrong disk in
the drive? The only way to abort it is to shut your ST off: and then
your data is gone. If you find yourself formatting the wrong disk,
simply hit Undo, and your data will be saved. Includes a built in
virus detection feature.
FMC FMC by Larry McConnell. The ST's operating system caches disk
information. It detects floppy disk changes by watching the write
protect line. If it hasn't detected a floppy disk being removed, it
will use the directory information in RAM. Some computers have
faulty write protect lines, and do not detect when a disk is removed.
This is quite dangerous, as your disks may become corrupted if you
read from a disk, replace it with a different one, and write to that
disk drive. This utility will force the ST to always read from a
disk before writing to it.
FORMAT3 Format version 3.00 by E. E. Aycock is a floppy disk formatter that
will let you format "normal" disks or format disks in a special way
that will sped up reading and writing of the disks when they are used
(sometimes called Twister format).
GHOST Ghost by Miguel Saro is a formatter and copier for ALADIN®, SPECTRE®
and MACINTOSH® diskettes. The program is mainly aimed at SPECTRE
users who wish to convert files from the now defunct ALADIN format.
Although SPECTRE 3.0 (the latest version at the time of writing)
allows you to read the old 9-sector 696k ALADIN discs directly under
MAC emulation this is only true if your MAC system does not reside on
a SPECTRE-format floppy (as is the case for SPECTRE 128 owners
without a hard disc). SPECTRE becomes confused between the 9 and 10
sector formats when it has to deal with them simultaneously. So
ALASPEC (the predecessor to GHOST) was born to convert between the
two formats under GEM. Includes English and French docs.
HACKNCPY Hack'N Copy version 1.0 allows you to make three different types of
backups. The simplest is a normal sector copy backup that
accomplishes the same thing as dragging one disk icon to another disk
icon in the desktop. The only difference is that HACK'N COPY is much
faster. The second option is a normal sector backup with format.
This option allows the destination disk to be unformatted before the
backup begins. The third type of backup HACK'N COPY will perform is
a nibble backup. This option will backup most protected disks.
Shareware!
HDFREE HDFree Pro version 2.0 by Paul Vermeulen is a program that will
generate statistics about the amount of space that is available on
your hard drive partitions C-P. It presents it's information in a
GEM window that grows larger or smaller depending upon the number of
partitions available to the system. Freeware!
HDSCAN HDSCAN by Todd Burkey - The ST Hard Disk Utility. HDSCAN is first
and foremost a utility that lets you tag files throughout your hard
disk and then copy (or erase) them in one pass. HDSCAN also lets you
hexdump any file on the hard disk, view any file (even binary files
if you like), rename a file, show the free space on drives A and B,
select for display files matching a specific string (i.e. to just see
all file names that have NEO in them), select just files in one
directory, select all the files on all partitions of the hard disk to
scroll through, and more that will make sense when you try out the
program. Shareware!
HD_CHECK HDCHECK version 1.3 by Bill LeDuc repairs boot sectors that have been
hit by a bug that disables hard drive auto booting. The fix was
surprisingly simple - a call to the Bios function Protobt() to
recalculate the checksum. This version also includes interface
improvements and other minor fixes. The transfer test will now work
if the boot sector information is incomplete. Partition (drive) and
logical partition sector number will now be included with the sector
information displayed during a number of the tests. The TOS error #
will now be included in file read error messages.
HD_OPT Hard Disk Optimiser version 1.01 by Jon Marshall is a (pretty quick)
program for reorganising your hard disk partitions by unfragmenting
files and moving free space areas to the end of the partition. The
program also allows the user to decide in what order the files will
be stored and to sort the directory entries. Freeware!
HRAMDISK HybriSwitch Ram Disk version 1.0 by John Eidsvoog. This is a stand
alone version of the HybriSwitch Reset-proof Ram Disk. It is
different from other 'reset-proof' ram disks in that they require an
extra reset when installing. The HybriSwitch Ram Disk is able to
accomplish the same task without having to reboot. Reset-proof means
that the files will still be intact after a 'warm' reset. A 'warm'
reset happens when you push the reset button (assuming that certain
system variables are intact), or upon recovering from some crashes.
This means that if a program crashes, or hangs, you can reset and
recover your files from your ram disk. Public Domain!
KDP65 Kwik Disk Configuration Editor version 6.50 by Magnum Software. Kwik
Disk was first released as a Desktop Accessory in August 1988. It was
intended to increase the access time for reading and writing to the
floppy drives. As it was continually updated, the author added the
ability to select the seekrate for each drive separately, increased
drive access speed and optimised the program to be as fast as
possible and use as little memory as possible. Shareware!
LEDPANEL LED Panel version 2.9 by Christoph Zwerschke. The basic idea of "LED
Panel" is to make any access to BIOS drives (floppy, harddisk, RAM
disk etc.) visible and distinctive between drives and kind of access
(reading or writing). All information is shown in the upper right
corner of the screen (normally you can only see the blank right end
of the menu title line there). Now with controller CPX. Contains
both English and German docs. Donationware.
MACREAD Mac HFS Disk Reader [aka "MacRead] by D. A. Bahr was originally
written to fill a specific nitch in the author's buisness. He needed
to transfer Postscript print files and some TIF files from a MAC to a
TT. The program will READ FROM a mac formatted scsi/dma HD,or a
SPECTRE formatted floppy disk and write to regular Atari drives/
disks. The program is a keyboard driven TOS file.
MASTER Master version 6.0 by Michael Naumann and Edgar Greuter is a shell
that has features found in several operating systems, notably unix
and MS-DOS. Shareware. When you register be sure to indicate if you
want the German documentation or the English documentation as both
languages are supported by the authors.
MEGAFORM Megaform version 2.1 is a disk copy program that has three distinct
features that set it apart from the rest: 1) Multiple copies - it
will read one disk and write it out to multiple times on multiple
disks <fast and accurate>. 2) Special copies - customise your bios
blocks. 3) fast disk copy - copies disks EXTREMELY FAST! Shareware!
METADS25 MetaDOS version 2.50 contains the essential elements to get any SCSI
CD ROM drive going on an Atari TT or to use an "Atari CDAR 504" CD
ROM on any Atari with an ACSI (DMA) port. It does NOT support SCSI
drives connected to an ACSI port. It does NOT support the Atari
Falcon030 at all (in these cases, you'll need third party drivers).
You may use it 'as is', don't expect any updates. This release fixes
only some small problems present in previous versions.
MONOMO23 Monomon version 2.3 by Sven Geier is a wonderful, feature rich disk
monitor program. It offers too many options to list here. The
program and all documentation is in German.
MTOSFRMT Sanders MultiTos Background Formatter by Sander Fransen/Holland Game
Design. SMBF is a disk formatter that is not only fast but is meant
for use under MultiTOS on 68030. A special version for the 68000 is
included. SMBF allows you to format HD & DD in large, normal and
fast mode, while keeping Falcon030 compatibility. Shareware!
NOAHDI NOAHDI.PRG by Ted Schipper is a AHDI.PRG version 1.7 compatible
driver for Atari hard disk's. Maybe it can be used for other brands
of hard disk's if they have an Adaptec compatible controller. If you
have another controller and the driver does not work, you only have
to rewrite the lowlevel driver part. The source code is included so
you can do just that!
OKAMI15 Okami Shell version 1.5 by Wolfram Roesler is a Unix-like CLI for the
Atari ST. It should run on any ST. 1 MB and hard disk are
recommended, modem and mouse are optional. It will run on all screen
resolutions, although some commands require lines to be at least 80
characters wide. MiNT is supported. The Okami Shell resembles the
Unix Bourne Shell (/bin/sh) and in particular the AIX Shell found on
the IBM RT 6150 computer system.
PANTHER PAnTHer File Divertor by Gard Eggesbø Abrahamsen is a resident (TSR)
program which hooks up to the GEMDOS and GEMAES trap vector and
alters the filespec parameter of most calls that deal with file
operations. The purpose of this is to allow the user to have a
'cleaner' setup on his harddisk, putting all information and
configuration files in a single folder, data files in another, etc.
Shareware!
PARKHD PARK_HD.ACC by Dick Lee is an accessory that will park your hard
disk's head in it's shipping position. As with other parking
programs, once you have parked the head, you SHOULD NOT access any
partition of the hard disk... you'll hear weird noises and see some
strange garbage on your screen. After PARK_HD.ACC has been selected,
the head will be parked, and a dialog box will appear telling you so.
It has only been tested on an original SH204.
PHOTO_CD Photo CD Rom drivers for MiNT. All docs are in German.
PS2FORM PS2FORM by G. Weijers is a simple utility developed so the author
could exchange files with people using PC clones without having to
send them floppies to get them formatted. The built-in formatter of
the Atari ST formats floppies in such a way that a PC can't read them
without special software or a special driver. PS2FORM formats the
disk the same way as a PS2-compatible. This format is also acceptible
to the ST. As a small bonus you get some extra space on the disc, as
the FATs are smaller.
PURGER Purger - The Disk Purger program by Damien Jones. This program
erases all the files on a floppy disk, FAST. No matter how many
files are on the disk, they are deleted in less than five seconds.
Caution should be exercised in using this program. Once a disk has
been purged, there is no way to recover the information--not even
with UNDELETE.
QKDISK11 QwikDisk: Turbo driven Ramdisk accessory version 1.1 by Link Tomlin
is yet another public domain ramdisk utility that forms part of the
'Qwik' series of development utilities. QwikDisk has only one claim
to fame, it is MONSTROUSLY fast. Data transfer to & from the
QwikDisk is typically over four times faster than other ramdisks. It
should prove useful to developers or anyone using a GEM based
application.
RAMBABY Intersect Ram Baby version 1.0 is a Public Domain Ram Disk and Print
Spooler. The speed of this ram disk is much improved over that in
the popular Intersect Ramdisk that it replaces, as a matter of fact,
it is nearly twice as fast as the original. It is functionally
similar to its predecessor except that drives C through P may be
designated for installation. The print spooler is installable in any
size and may be removed (as can the ramdisk) and re-installed at a
different size.
RAMLED RAMLED by Clemens Schrimpe is the modified version of diskbar.prg.
It lights up the LED on DRIVE A: every time a RAMDISK (on drive G:)
is accessed. To use another (or more) drive(s) replace the #6 with
the proper drive number, you want RAMD_LED to react on. The assembly
source code is provided so you can customize it to your heart's
content.
RAMPLUS RAMPLUS by John Harris is a combination ramdisk and print spooler
with a few other features included. The ramdisk is one of the
fastest I've seen, and also uses the smallest amount of memory for a
given ramdisk size. The spooler is an automatic design that uses
available ramdisk memory, and thus does not require a separate memory
buffer.
SALVAGE Salvage by Merlin L. Hanson is a program designed to aid in
recovering ASCII files from a floppy disk that has had the FAT tables
or Directory trashed.
SEARCHER Searcher version 2.02 by Alex Nicholls is the program that does the
Spring cleaning on your disks (and MUCH more!). The program will
search any GEM formatted/partitioned drive. Includes: Floppy drives,
Hard disk drives, and RAM disks. Shareware!
SECED101 The No-Frills ST Sector Editor version 1.01 by James M. Eli is
exactly what the name implies - a bare bones sector editor for the
ST.
SHELL Another command line interpreter for the Atari ST by Shawn Hargreaves
is a simple, specialised command line interpreter, very much like
MS-DOS but more pleasant to use. It was written for a specific
purpose: to simplify the task of running a C compiler off a ramdisk
on a 1040 ST. The shell features: basic DOS commands, command
editing, command history, batch files, run tos or gem programs, built
in C project management.
SHREDR SHREDR version 1.1 is a program that will completely ERASE a program
from your drive. When you delete a file, it is just amrked as
deleted in the FAT table. However the original file is still on the
drive and can be viewed by people snooping around with sector
editors. Shredr completely overwrites the file so that no trace of
it can be found.
STDCAT52 Stdcat version 5.2b by Bob Silliker is a program that can be used to
catalogue diskettes and hard disk partitions. It is a GEM window
application using four (4) windows to display various parts of a
catalogue. A catalogue is organized into sections with each section
containing a number of disks, disk contains paths (folders), and
paths containing files. Each section, disk, path and file can,
optionally, have a comment associated with it.
STREE104 STree - The ST Filetree Scan Utility version 1.04 by Stephen Hebditch
is a desktop accessory for the Atari ST / STE / TT which lets you
search for files on your hard disk matching a specification and then
manipulate them using a TT style desktop. Search specifications
include: File mask with full Unix(tm) style wildcarding, Drive
partitions to search, Path to start searching from on each drive,
Depth of folders to search down to, File attributes, Date/Time stamp
range. Shareware!
TAPEBIOS TapeBIOS driver software version 1.5 by Alan Hourihane. The TapeBIOS
program allows the Atari machines to talk to a SCSI tape drive
connected through the DMA bus (not the SCSI bus of the TT). Provided
in this package is quite a few extras. i.e. programmers docs, support
programs, to use and to be used as examples on how to access the
capabilities of the TapeBIOS software. Also provided is the
necessary include files and library code for the GNU 'C' compiler.
TC63CPX A cpx module to control Turbo Cache version 6.3!
TLC_FORM TLC Formatter version 1.12 by Tom Hayslett can be run as a Program OR
accessory. It formats in a FaST 9 sector (disks read and write
faSTer than twisted disks) or in standard 10 sector format. Supports
'switching' between 2 drives (if you have 2 floppies). Will format
80, 81 or 82 tracks and ALL formats are readable on MS DOS machines.
Allows inclusion of disk volume names, formatting can be aborted at
any time and errors are properly reported. Shareware!
TURTLE Turtle version 3.20 by George R. Woodside is an extremely fast hard
disk backup utility program. It requires no special hardware, and
the floppies written are standard TOS disks. To accomplish this
speed, certain simple steps must be taken. TURTLE requires just
about all the RAM you have in a one megabyte ST (for double sided
disks).
UNEEKIT UNEEKIT.TOS by Ivan D Reid is a program to overcome a problem that
strikes most Atari ST users from time to time -- the lack of a unique
serial number on diskettes formatted on MS-DOS systems. This problem
gets re-discovered from time to time and many fixes get suggested --
e.g. using different formatting programs, or a sector editor to patch
the boot sector, etc. -- but so far there has not been a simple
program to fix a disk, so here is a little hack to do the job.
UNIXFLOP Utilities to transfer data to/from unix boxes with floppy drives by
Colas Nahaboo. Included utils are Raw2tar, Tar2raw, and Unixflop.
Includes complete C source code.
UTILCOPY The Ultimate RAMdisk Copy Program by David Duberman is the program
every RAMdisk user in the ST universe has been breathlessly awaiting!
This program does no less than to copy automatically every file and
every folder (except the AUTO folder) from any floppy to a ramdisk
(or to any other disk). Shareware!
VERIFY VERIFY and AUTOVRFY - Public Domain Programs from Articulate
Software. These programs will let you turn off the write-verify
feature of the ST. (In one benchmark test, the time taken to write
200K to the disk was decreased from 62 seconds to 36 seconds by
turning verify off -- a 42% decrease in time taken.). The source
code is available for a small fee.
VERSADIR VersaDirectory by David W. Binnion will print a directory dump to the
screen, printer or disk file. You select which drive and may also
select which subdirectory. Finally, choose whether the inner
subdirectores will be scanned. That's it. Experiment a while and
you will understand it perfectly. By the way, pressing Q while
printing will stop the process. Shareware!
VOL109 VOL version 1.09 by Roland Waldi. The program VOL serves three
purposes: 1) You can give disks a label, if you forgot to do so
during formatting, or even change it. 2) I can remove control-blocks
created by the "40-folder bug" of TOS for any logical drive. 3) You
can look at disk characteristics (sectors per track etc.) of disks,
including an info if the boot sector is executable (boot sector
virus?) just by typing "VOL A".
ZORG_141 Ze Organizer by Ludovic Rousseau version 1.42 is a hard disk analyser
and optimizer (defragger). Includes both English and French
documentation. Shareware!

1STG1294 1st Guide [released Dec. 05, 1994] by Guido Vollbeding is a multi-
media hypertext viewing/presentation system (similar in function to
ST-Guide). 1st Guide supports hypertext format data files, MPEG
format graphics files, and uses the DSP-JPEG-Decoder from Brainstorm.
All documentation is in German. Shareware.
AMIGA Amiga Emulator by Philip I. Nelson. As you've no doubt guessed,
AMIGA_EM.PRG is a joke, not a serious attempt to emulate an Amiga on
the Atari ST. On the plus side, AMIGA_EM.PRG is a free program.
AMIGA_EM.PRG is written in assembly language and it includes several
actual Amiga screens. To save space, the screens are stored in
compressed format and uncompressed as needed. You must run
AMIGA_EM.PRG in medium resolution on a color monitor.
BUBBLE BubbleBook by Armin Hierstetter. BubbleBook is specially written for
the ST BOOK (that is where it get its name) and for large screens.
If you can't find your mouse pointer, just click the right mouse
button. A blinking Comic's Bubble appears with (>>I'm here<<).
BubbleBook works with all programs that use Accessories.
CAL63 Cal version 6.3 by Bill Aycock is a calendar program with a
difference - it lets you attach 'events' to any day of the year by
date, according to a day's position in the month, or on a regular
cycle. When Cal loads, it reads the current date from your system
clock and checks to see if any significant events are scheduled for
the day. If so, Cal displays an alert that shows you the day's
events. Shareware!
CHRONOS Chronos version by Daniel Roth is a calendar and scheduling software
for all Atari computers. The program and all docs are in German.
CID_D202 CALLERID Accessory Utility version 2.02 by Paul D. Lyon. With CID
Accessory, you are free to use your computer for anything (except a
terminal program which will want to capture the CID data also) while
it is in the background ready to process the ID data. With CID
Accessory, you create and maintain an Index file which CID Accessory
searches when a call is received. If it finds a match, it shows you
the matching name automatically before the second ring! If there is
no match but the number is provided, then you can automatically add
this number to the Index file and enter an appropriate name for
display the next time a call is received from that number! NOTE:
Caller ID Accessory requires Caller ID service from your phone
company and a modem (preferably Supra) with Caller ID capabilities.
Shareware!
CKBD_13 CKBD Deluxe version 1.3 by Pascal Fellerich - Composed Characters
Keyboard Driver plus flexible mouse speeder. Billed as "The ultimate
extension for the keyboard driver in TOS computers", this utility
program gives you easy access to any special character available in
the system character set on any keyboard! Moreover CKBD Deluxe is
configurable so that even completely different character sets like
the ISO set can be used. Freeware!
FF_RSAVE FF or Print oR SAVE -- an ALT/HELP vector stealer by Chet Walters.
This is a revision of an earlier program named HP_RSAVE. This program
is specific to HP Laser Jets and compatibles. This has a special
feature for HP Lasers only! It's called FF_RSAVE which means Form
Feed, Print or Save the current screen.
FILMTERM FILMTERM.PRG will let you identify the film setting used for your
Kodak Photo CD scans, the scanner version used, and the organization
that made the PCD file on your CD. You can look up the film type
code in the FILMTERM.TXT that accompanies this archive.
FLAME_07 FLAMETHROWER is a small utility that allows you to summon up UIS III,
shows how much memory you have left (Largest block), change your
screen colors (Inverts in mono), change the system DATE, re-set the
system time to whatever time you wish. You can even run external
programs from FLAMETHROWER.
FLEXSORT Flexi-Sort version 1.0 by Albert Baggetta is a rather unusual sort
program in that it allows an assortment of ways to catalog your ASCII
files. It is especially useful to sort lists of names and places,
but it can produce some unusual results on a variety of ASCII files.
Do not use it with other types of files since the outcome is rather
unpredictable. Shareware!
GULAM *Gulam* is a shell (i.e., a command line interpreter) for Atari ST
computers. It contains some 60+ built-in commands, provides file
name completion a la *TENEX*, has history, alias and rehash
facilities, and integrates the shell with microEmacs easing the
editing of commands being issued. In common usage, it resembles
*csh* of *Unix 4.xBSD*; Gulam's control structures, lexical
conventions and other details are, however, quite different from csh.
GULAMDOC Complete documentation for the Gulam CLI (Command Line Interpreter).
HEADLINE Headline version 1.0 by Albert Baggetta produces those silly banners,
similar to those found in the market rags ("National Enquirer",
"Midnight Star", etc.). I've even got them "news-flashing!" across
the screen, at the touch of a key. You can even personalize the
headlines. Shareware! (A "naughty" version is available direct from
the author)
KITTYLCK The "Kitty" Lock by Erin Monaco. The "theory of operation" of Kitty
Lock is very simple, before taking a break and leaving the computer
in the middle of a computing session, activate The "Kitty" Lock. Now
while you are away from my computer you don't have to worry about the
kitty or kids playing with the keyboard, inadvertantly adding to your
documents, closing folders, etc! Upon your return, hit escape to
clear any stray characters from the text field, type "KittyLck" and
press return and you can once again resume computing. Shareware!
MASTER Master version 6.0 by Michael Naumann and Edgar Greuter is a Command
Line Interpreter (CLI) that has features found in several operating
systems, notably unix and MS-DOS. Shareware (English and German
versions of the manual and program are available to registered users)
NUTSHELL NutShell version 1.0 by Jan van Oldenborgh, is NOT a shell. It
merely is an interface to a running shell using a system() call over
the _shell_p pointer (used in GPshell and Gulam, and others). This
means that when a shell implementing the _shell_p mechanism is
running NutShell will give you all its power within a GEM
applications. It has been tested with the GPshell of the CRAFT
package, but should work with (among others) Gulam as well. It will
run both as an accessory and as a program.
OSCLI10X Kommandozeileninterpreter Version 1.0u by Oliver Scholz is a Command
Line Interpreter (CLI) shell for the Atari. While the documentation
is in German, the program itself uses completely English syntax for
it's commands. English speaking folks shouldn't have much trouble
using it. Shareware!
PASSWORT Passwort by Jon Clarke is designed to only allow access into your
computer via entry of a PASSWORD, pretty easy concept to grasp HUH.
Well not only does it do that but it also "Time,Date" stamps entry as
well so you can keep track of what time the system has been used,
last accessed etc.
QUICKRUN QuickRUN by Robert Jung is a program manager. You build lists of ST
programs, which can then be executed from QuickRUN instead of the
Desktop. It doesn't matter what the program is; if you can run it
from the ST Desktop, you can run it with QuickRUN. And since
QuickRUN is only 16K, it doesn't eat up your memory.
SIREN Kiwi-Net Presents The SIREN.ACC. Imagine just using GEM or your
favorite monochrome program, and all of a sudden you hear a police
siren, you think what the heck is that?? [really un-nerving when
running CALAMUS] Then all of a sudden it gets louder, and LOUDER and
a police car drives across the bottom of the screen, you don't
believe me? TRY IT! Runs in ST Monochrome only.
SPEC_ZX Spectrum Screen$ Loader is a utility/cable building project that will
allow you to connect a Sinclair Spectrum's cassette tape drive to the
ST. The program will read all the pictures (SCREEN$ files) you had
on the tape into the ST and save them on an ST disk as NEOchrome
format pictures.
SRCHREP Search and Replace version 9D - A Very Versatile Search/Replace
Utility. It has a 400K buffer and allows you to do complex search
and replace functions. Freeware.
SST_FONT Sedated Software Technologies Font Editor by Alexander Hajnal. This
program is designed to edit font files used by Warp 9 and Fontrix. It
is designed to use the standard 8X16 fonts used by Warp 9 and runs
is ST Medium screen resolution. Shareware!
STG_UT06 A collection of utilities to use with ST Guide. Includes a
program to convert Turbo/Pure Pascal's Help system to ST Guide
format! Also includes source code for many of the ST Guide utility
programs in this folder. All docs are in German.

was printing up raffle tickets on his ST with PageStream. It will
search through a file and replace a sequence of XXXXs with an
incremental counter.
Z88LINK Z88Link (A Cambridge Z88 <-> Atari ST Communications Program )version
1.3 by Ian Johnston allows files to be transferred in either
direction between a Cambridge Computer Z88 and Atari ST. The program
PCLink must be present on the Z88 - this is an optional product from
Cambridge Computer, supplied on EPROM. In addition a suitable 25 pin
<-> 9 pin lead is required. One is supplied in the PCLink kit.
Shareware!
ZAP ZAP version 2.5 by E. van Herk is an editor, designed to edit program
files. That is why it cannot change the length of a file, and why it
displays files both in ASCII and in hexadecimal code. It needs very
little memory ( less than 25K ) and may be used on files of arbitrary
size, to at least a megabyte. ZAP is a 'public domain' tool.

HIDEAWAY HideAway version 1.1.4 by Bruno Essmann. HideAway is able to hide
the windows of applications. If you have a couple of applications
running at the same time and are starting to lose control of the
window jungle, you may simply hide the applications you don't need
at the moment. For use with MultiTOS.
MICRORTX MICRO RTX from Beckemeyer Development Tools is an OS replacement
which works with TOS and allows multitasking of TOS programs. It
provides the system services necessary for implementing multitasking
in your programs. Included with this SHAREWARE distribution is the
complete MICRO RTX programming manual describing how to use MICRO RTX
in your programs.
MINTTL01 MiNT-Tools Release 1 Commandline Utilities (chgrp, chown, fsinfo, id,
kill, leave, ln, logname, newgrp, nice, ps, renice, su, tty, uptime).
If you don't know what the above utils do, you don't need them.
MX2 MX2 Multitasking Kernel version 2.3.0 by Fred Brooks. MX2 is a
multitasking environment to aid in program development for the ATARI
ST. It was developed in Modula-2 but can be used with any language
such as C, BASIC, or PASCAL. Suggested system minimum requirements
are 1 MEG of memory with a double-sided disk drive. A hard disk
drive will greatly improve system performance.
OFAKE OFAKE.XFS by Eric Smith. A number of people have mentioned that it's
a shame that MiNT 0.9's universal drive (drive U:) isn't accessible
from Neodesk or from the TOS 1.0 desktop. So, here's a quick hack to
allow another drive letter to be a universal drive. NOTE: This won't
work with versions of MiNT prior to 0.9, which never try to load .XFS
files.
RAMFS RAMFS.XFS: A resizable ramdisk file system for MiNT version 1.4 by
Thierry Bousch. This ramdisk allocates dynamically as much memory as
it needs. As you might expect, it won't work too well with programs
which allocate all the memory. This disk installs itself as
directory U:\ram if you're using MiNT 1.08 or newer otherwise it
installs as drive R. Postcardware!

MAGIXROM MAGIXROM [released 18-Dec-1994] is a nifty little utility program
that allows you to put MagiX (MagiC??) on ROM. Now works with PAK/3.
Allows you to put both MagiX and old TOS into ROMs (with 32 bit
systems). All documentation is in German.
POOLFIX Poolfix 4 patches a bug in TOS. This bug doesn't bite very often.
You probably haven't ever seen it. It happens when programs use
Malloc a lot and you have a lot of folders in your system. (Yes,
this bug was introduced as part of the code which got rid of the 40
folder limit.) The OS pool is the internal memory used by GEMDOS to
keep track of directories, files, handles, and internal memory.
Sometimes, GEMDOS uses only part of a block. When there are two
blocks that are only partly used, and the used parts would fit into
one block, the space can be compacted to create one completely used
block and one free block. Unfortunately, there's a bug in the
compaction routine. This patch prevents that compaction routine from
being executed and executes it's own bug free routine.
STALK304 A patch program from Gribnif Software that will upgrade STalker
version 3.03 to version 3.04. It fixes several bugs in previous
versions.
STENO210 A patch program from Gribnif Software that will upgrade STeno version
2.0x to version 2.10. It fixes several bugs in previous versions.

II disc, so that they will be compatible with the latest STE machines
which offer TOS 1.62 in ROM.
STSFX27A STOS Fixer version 2.7 by Robert Quezada. This program was written
using the AutoZest interface and GFA BASIC. It calculates the STOS
values required for STOS interpreter and STOS compiled programs for
virtually all TOS versions. Fixes several bugs in STOS.
TP206V38 A collection of TOS 2.06 patches.

1WP2RTF 1WP2RTF by Jeroen Scheerder is a program that will convert 1st Word
Plus files into RTF (Rich Text Format) files. This converter program
is unique in that it works off of a translation parameter file that
could be edited to convert the 1st Word Plus files into ANY other
format - assuming you knew the specifics of the file format you
wanted to convert to.
ASSASIN ASSASSIN.SYS version 1.0 by Michael F. Ellis. Are you afraid of
GDOS? Do you find that when you purchase a program that uses GDOS,
you use only the fonts that came with the program? If so, the reason
probably boils down to the ASSIGN.SYS file. Many people find it
either too difficult or too much trouble to customize the ASSIGN
file. With ASSASSIN.SYS, you never have to worry about editing
another ASSIGN file, ASSASSIN will do it all for you. Shareware!
AW_ALIN2 Atari Works Landscape Printer Alignment template by Michael Hebert.
This folder contains LANDALIN.STW and PR_ALIN2.STW. The first is a
landscape printer alignment template for 1.0 inch margins. The second
is an AtariWorks document describing how the author finally figured
out the offsets for his HP-4L printer.
CASSETE Cassette Label Maker version 1.2 by Scott Sanders/Software
Development Systems. This program will run under either medium or
hi-res and any ATARI computer with 512k or more. It produces labels
which neatly fold up into any standard cassette case. Label Format A
has three panels; one three lines long, one four lines long, and one
fifteen lines long. Label Formats B & C has one extra panel 15 lines
long. Shareware!
CASSETTE Cassette version 3.2 by Cornelius Bode is a program that will print
out labels for cassette tapes. The program and all documentation is
in German, however the operation of this program should be fairly
straightforward.
CASSLBLE Cassette Label Maker by David W. Douglass is a program to make
cassette labels. It's a GEM based program that allows you to create
a printed label of the appropriate size to include in a standard
plactic audio cassette box. The program works with both color and
monochrome monitors and is configurable to work with just about any
dot matrix printer that has provisions for different character
pitches.
CAVELABL The Caverns Disk Labeler Version 0.0000001 by "The Keeper" (note: the
"Keeper" referred to here is NOT the Crawly Crypt Keeper) is a
program that will print out floppy disk labels. This program only
works with Epson printers (and Epson compatibles).
EPSJET EpsJet version 1.0 by David L. Bailey is an Atari ST software Epson
MX-80 emulator for the DeskJet. EpsJet takes output destined for an
Epson printer and converts it to a form that can be properly printed
on a Hewlett-Packard DeskJet. Not all Epson features are
implemented, and graphics output will be no better in resolution than
it would be on an Epson MX-80. Programs using GDOS output and the
FX80.SYS driver should work with EpsJet to print MX-80-resolution
graphics.
FONT_FIX The GDOS\FONTGDOS Filename fixer - freeware from Dragonware. This
Program is designed to help users of The G_MAN V2.0 through 3.XX
correct the most common errors in the GDOS font name standard. If
you do NOT own the G_MAN, this program will not help you much; unless
you know how to make ASSIGN.SYS files manually.
FX80QUER FX80QUER version 1.2 by Christoph Zwerschke is a public domain
utility program designed to be used with the Epson FX80 (and
compatible) printers. The program and all documentation is in
German.
F_PRINT FPPRNT by Frank Pawlowski is a little printer character output
routine that patches into the TRAP 13 vector to just output
characters to the printer port a bit more efficiently than TOS does.
After some testing it is quite clear that printers that can accept
data at a high rate do indeed perform better with this patch
installed.
GD_CHECK GDOS-Check version 2.0 by Christoph Bartholme is a small utility that
tests a GDOS installation. More precisely, it tests the installed
GDOS driver and finds out how well IdeaList version 3.5 can be used
with it. The program and all documentation is in German.
GEMLABEL GEMLABEL version 2.0 by Jeep Watson is the combination of 3 or 4
general purpose labeling utilities that the author wrote for his
businesses. GEMLABEL has more features and is easier to use and more
attractive than many of the other label programs. It was written for
Monochrome systems as it is primarily a business program. The source
code and custom versions are available from the author for a fee.
GSP32FUK GEM Spooler version 3.2 by Steven Van Rossen, Marc Billiet is a
universal printer spooler for Atari computers. Everybody who prints
a lot knows the problem: it takes a long time before the computer is
available again because the computer has to wait for the slow
printer. GEM Spooler captures the printer output, returns control of
the computer to the user, and spools the printer data out IN THE
BACKGROUND. Shareware.
HP4LCPX HP4L.CPX version 1.00 by Arvin Schnell is a small utility to set some
features of your HP LaserJet 4L Printer. At the moment it sets only
those features which control the quality of the output (EconoMode,
REt and Density). Since these features can only be set through
software, and the only software Hewlit Packard supplies is in DOS/
Windows format, this utility is ESSENTIAL for any HP4L (or
compatible) owner.
HPJ2PS Hewlet Packard Deskjet Dump to PostScript Converter by Richard Parr &
Eliot Miranda. This program was written to allow Atari Cubase users
to print out scores on PostScript printers. It does this by
converting the 300dpi HP LaserJet output that Cubase can generate and
encoding this as a PostScript bitmap. Run-length encoding techniques
are used to make the files produced a reasonable length (they are
usually around a quarter of the size of the raw HP output). Freeware!
HP_5260 HP 5260 Labeler by Chet Walters is a label printing program. This
program is specifically for use with HP DeskJets and Avery three
across ten down 5260 cut sheet labels or clones. Shareware!

Format. This manual is in German.
IDEALIST IdeaList version 3.51 by Christoph Bartholme is a versatile tool used
to print out ASCII files and files in 1st Wordplus Format or RTF.
When used, it can save up to 80% of paper consumption. Also because
it has a printer driver exclusive to your own printer you can control
all of your printer fuctions and you can also print the files in
better quality. In other words it takes all the hard work out of
printing files. Includes both English and German version of the
program and documentation. Shareware!
IDEA_HYP An online reference and help guide for IdeaList 3.5, Blinex, IdeaBook
and IdeaForm im HYP-Format. Requires ST-Guide to display.
ILBUGFIX This is a patch for IdeaList version 3.51. This patch fixes a bug in
the preview display mode of IdeaList. The docs are in German.
IMG_PRT Image Printer/Cataloger version 2.2 by Rick Hollm. This program is a
GEM Image file printer similar to IMG_CAT by Chet Walters, but this
program is free. It places 12 images per page along with the name of
the image and its size. It can handle up to 12 pages of images in
the path you select. The program will also print the path and a user
editable title on the top of each page. You must have GDOS or GDOS+
with a assign.sys file with 10 & 12 point fonts defined in the first
position or one of the fonts must be named Swiss. The program will
print various status reports on the screen as it is printing so you
can follow along.
IPRN_040 iPRN version 0.40 by Peter Missel is a printer output speeder with
status control via interrupt. This shareware utility will GREATLY
speed up the rate at which your computers sends data out the printer
port. Ideal for use with modern printers that can accept data at a
higher rate of speed than their predecessors. All docs are in
German.
JET_LOPE JET-LOPE 2 by Barney Poston is a program to address/print envelopes
using the Hewlett Packard DeskJet 500 printers. It allows access,
from the keyboard, to the internal typefaces of the printer. You can
select fonts independently for the return address and recipient
address. You may print one envelope at a time inputing addresses as
you go, use recipient addresses loaded from a database or you may
print a recipient address loaded from the Atari Clipboard.
KUVERT KUVERT version 1.10 by Georg Conrad is an envelope printer for use
with the Panasonic KX-P1080 (and compatible) printer. The program is
in German, but there is VERY LITTLE text. An envelope is presented
graphically on the screen and you fill in the blanks.
LABELMAX Label MAX version 1.0 by Jacob W. Janovetz/Mediaeval Software is a
disk label printing program. Label MAX is so easy to use, it really
needs no explanation of how to use it. Just run it and you should
have no trouble at all getting it to work. Shareware!
LALOPE37 LaserLope version 3.7 by Barney Poston. This is an UPDATE to the
LaserLope HP4 Envelope printing utility. It contains ONLY the new
program but does NOT contain any docs. You will need an older
version of LaserLope if you want the docs. The update info says
"Several bugs were identified and corrected".
LBLMAKER Label Maker by Frank P. Nagle is a disk label program that will allow
you to generate graphics or regular print labels, and also print
complete directory listings of your 3-1/2" disks. It is completely
mouse/menu driven with little need for use of the keyboard except to
enter a new disk volume name. The program takes complete advantage
of GEM and TOS. The source code is available from the author for a
small fee.
L_EXPERT Label Expert version 5.0 by Jörg Trojan is a flexible label printing
program for the Atari ST series of computers. The program and all
documentation is in German. Shareware!
M_SPOOL Magic Spooler by Emanuel Möcklin is more than a printer spooler. It
makes it possible to print to a file from most programs. Moreover
it makes it possible, to print files in the background. As these two
functions can be active at the same time, you can first print to a
file and then print this file (on the printer naturally), that means
you can use your HD as buffer for the spooler. Conatins English and
German version of the program and documentation.
PCAG The SilkWare Print Control Accessory Generator (PCAG) by Mark Slagell
is a truly unique utility. Given a simple ASCII configuration file
that you supply (an example is provided), it generates a desk
accessory to send any instructions you want to your printer. There
may be up to 12 instructions defined, each having a length of up to
39 bytes. Shareware!
PRHP12 PRHP is a text file printing utility for use with HP Deskjet and
Deskjet+ printers. It allows printing in many various modes in
portrait or landscape orientation. In portrait mode, characters per
line range from 80 to 154 and lines range from 60 to 120. In
landscape mode, characters per line range from 102 to 204 and lines
range from 42 to 84. Supports draft or letter quality printing in
all modes. Prints all pages back to front with a header showing
date, time, file name, and page number. Allows the left margin width
(or top margin width in landscape mode) to be set. Freeware!
PRTMATIC Print-A-Matic version 1.0 by Michael H. Douville is a utility that is
intended to enable a easy way to control your printer. These features
include: 1) Sending control codes to your printer to enable certain
features. 2) To be able to group these features together as macros
and use them. 3) To be able to save the configuration for repeated
use. 4) To enable printing of a text file from the program. 5) A
TEST option that allows you to see what text will look like on your
printer, BEFORE you print the file.
PSCAPT10 PS Capture version 1.00 by Charles S. Smeton is a desk accessory that
will allow the output from the GDOS PostScript driver (supplied with
TimeWorks Desktop Publisher ST) to be redirected from the RS-232 port
to a disk file. The file of PostScript commands can then be printed
with Imagen's UltraScript or with GhostScript or on a PostScript
compatible Laser Printer. Shareware!
SDUMP1_5 Bob's Screen Dump Utility version 1.5 by Bob Areddy is designed for
use with an EPSON Lq1500 or compatible printer (such as the Panasonic
1124). It will work in Medium or Low resolution and create a 16
shade dump of your screen when Alt-Help is pressed. This supercedes
the Atari dump of only 8 shades (which doesn't take advantage of the
24 pins in your printer!). Shareware!
STICKER3 Sticker III by Shapoor E. Engineer is a label printing program that
will allow you to print out labels that have text and graphics on
them. You can put a logo or something on your label and give it that
customized look. Shareware!
STOWAWAY Stowaway! version 1.2 by Jim Thompsen is a disk label printing
program that the author originally wrote for Wizztronics to use. The
program uses labels specifically made for the 3-1/2" disks on tractor
feed ( 2-3/4" square ). The print functions were designed for Epson
FX compatibility. Shareware!
TRANSPRT The TRANSPORTER Font Dowloader version 0.90 is a very easy to use
printer utility for displaying the various fonts that are built in
the Epson and Star printers. It also will download various
alternate character sets to your printer via the "Download Icon".
Shareware!
TXTBK101 TeXTBOOK version 1.01 by Paul D. Lyon is a utility that prints ASCII
files sideways; two 5.5" X 8.5" on an 8.5" X 11" sheet. Requires
Speedo GDOS, and a valid SpeedoGDOS printer driver using 8.5 x 11
inch paper, and either ST High or ST Medium screen resolution.
UFSL_097 Universal Fontselector (UFSL) by Michael Thänitz is a font selector
program for Speedo GDOS. The program and all documentation is in
German. Freeware!
ULTIMADE Ultimade Label version 1.0 by Torsten Fülling proclaims to be the
ultimate label editor/printer for 3.5 inch and 5.25 inch floppy
disks. The program and all documentation is in German.
VIEWFONT Fontview by SKWare One & S. K. Webb is a GDOS font viewer program,
and it's public domain. It will run in all STe resoltions (maybe
more), but looks best in monochrome. It has two .RSC files, one for
color monitors (FNTVIEWC.RSC) and one for monochrome monitors
(FNTVIEWM.RSC). It reports all data from the GDOS font header and
features the GDOS Typewriter described below. IT DOES NOT REQUIRE THE
GDOS PROGRAM to show GDOS fonts on-screen!
YAPS Yet Another Printer Spooler (YAPS for short) is a little program that
patches itself into the operating system (low level BIOS calls) and
waits for someone to send a character to the printer. When that
happens, it checks to see if your printer is busy printing a
character. If the printer is not YAPS sends it a character to print.
However, if it is busy, YAPS will store that character in a buffer
and return control of the computer to your program. No printing long
documents will not tie up your computer.

COLTOAST Color Toasters by Thorsten Pohlmann is a color module for use with
the Before Dawn screen saver. It is another take off on the popular
"flying toasters" theme. It uses 16 colors so one would assume it is
best viewed in a video mode with at least 16 colors. The
documentation is in German.
MOVIES12 Movies at Night by Anthony Watson is a unique screensaver system that
plays animated 'movies' when you are not using your computer. The
system is composed of two parts; A Screensaver (version 1.2) utility,
and a Movie Construction Set (version 1.1). The Movies at Night
screensaver module will work in ST Low or ST Medium graphics modes
only. The construction set operates only in ST Medium. The screen
saver utility will work as an Extendosave module for Warp 9 (Version
3.70 or later), or as a standalone screensaver, depending on how it
is installed. Shareware!
STSAVE27 The Soft-Sci Screen Saver by Michael Crisafulli is a screen saver
that can be run by itself or as an Extendosave module for Warp 9.
When it is active it displays a black screen with a small picture
bubble or balloon which moves continuously, bouncing off the edges of
your screen. The picture your Saver displays can be different from
every other one. In fact, it can be different every time you boot
your computer. The installation program can automatically select a
new image specification for the next boot-up. Shareware!

** Atari ST System Utilities **
** /UTILITY/SYSTEM/ **
*************************************************************************
ANTIBOMB Antibomb by Greg Baker. If you're tired of the cherry bombs or
mushroom clouds displayed when a program crashes then you'll find
this utility essential. It replaces the bombs with a user friendly
alert box that identifies the error in English. It runs from the
Desktop or from the AUTO folder. For all STs, all resolutions. The
source code is available from the author for a small fee.
AV380 Ascii-View version 3.80 by David M. Seberg is an ascii text viewing
program that was developed to replace the [Show]-[Print]-[Cancel]
feature of the ST's Desktop. It does so by allowing the user to
easily view an Ascii text file with a host of features not available
from the ST's Desktop. Ascii-View will load any ascii file and
display that file on a 80 column by 23 line screen. Ascii-View
supports Medium and High resolution. Shareware!
CLARISSA The Supreme Software Document Displayer version 1.00 by Chris Sharp.
This program is somewhat similar to the Revenge Document Displayer
and the Standalone Stosser Document Displayer but it features many
more options including music, picture and snapshot display, etc.
Shareware!
CLIP_CPX Atari Clipboard CPX version 0.9 by Scott Sanders/Software Development
Systems. The Atari Clipboard system is built around two system calls
scrp_read() and scrp_write(). They don't actually read or write
information to the clipboard, they just let you access the pathname
where the clipboard is located. Simply put, this CPX lets you better
manage where your clipboard is located (what drive and path) and
gives you some other options like clearing the directory on bootup
and whenever else you choose. Freeware!
DSKMRF10 DeskMorf version 1.0 by David E. Rutherford alters the appearance of
the GEM windows, icons and dialog box buttons to give them a "3-D"
look. Any program that uses these objects will display them in "3-D"
as well. Instead of inverting the color when a button is selected,
DeskMorf depresses it, and then releases it when it's deselected.
All the window elements and buttons are displayed in individually
selectable colors ( on a color monitor ), or patterns ( on a mono
monitor ) and can be changed using DeskMorf.ACC. Shareware!
FONTLOAD Loader by Greg White is a program which lets you replace the existing
system font with another. One sample font, SLASHER.FED, is included.
Run loader from the desktop. A file selector box will appear, and it
will prompt you for the font to load. Select the font, and when you
return to the desktop the font you have chosen will be the new system
font.
FUJI Fuji Desk! is free! It comes to you courtesy of Chet Walters. I
won't tell you what it does, but stick in your AUTO folder and
reboot. It works in all three resolutions of any 520, 1040, or Mega
ST. You can also run it from the desktop any old time. Fuji Desk!
works best if run early in the AUTO folder.
FUNKALRT Funk Alert! version 1.0 by Charles F. "Godfather of Soul" Johnson is
a tiny program (it uses less than 1K when installed!) that assigns
the buttons in GEM alert boxes to the function keys F1, F2, and F3!
This means that any program that calls the GEM AES form_alert()
routine (i.e. almost _every_ GEM program) now has built-in, easy to
remember "hot key" equivalents for its alert box buttons! Shareware!
GEMBOOT GEM Boot version 1.11 by Konrad A. Hahn serves as a plaster for the
old TOS problem: "the 40 folder limit". The so called "40 folder
limit" is a two fold TOS bug. The system crashes are caused by
GEMDOS being "out of system memory". GEMDOS has a limited system
memory area of 3000 words used for memory descriptors, media
descriptors, directory cache blocks, etc. GEM Boot protects the
system by linking fresh cache blocks to the system and scanning all
hard disk directories with Fsfirst()-Fsnext(). Thus GEMDOS is forced
to build up a complete, errorfree directory cache tree.
GEMLOAD GEM_LOAD version 1.3 by Markus Pristovsek is a utility program that
graphically displays the "system load". In other words, it shows a
graphic representation of how hard the system is working at any given
time.
GEMRAM16 GEMRAM version 1.6 by Martin Osieka installs a copy of GEM in RAM.
This is necessary if you use patch programs like WINX, ARROWFIX or
SHBUF. Another benefit of having GEM in ram is that you will gain a
little extra performance (for example, a Falcon will speed up about
7%-12% with the OS running in ram as opposed to it running from rom).
JAMES James, the Desktop-Butler version 1.0 by Pascal Fellerich is more than
an improved Control Panel: James is the ultimate 'desktop-butler'.
It makes the daily work with the ST easier. You can now adjust the
keyboard parameters, ship your harddisk, write-protect any drive,
detect and destroy viruses and a lot more without having to boot
numerous accessories! Shareware!
JARXXX JARxxx: Cookie Jar Manager by Dan Wilga. What JARxxx does is take
the "dirty work" away and simplify the whole process of using the
Cookie Jar. It provides a standard way for programs to look for
cookies and create new ones. It also establishes a new jar, as large
as you want it to be, for all future programs to use. JARxxx is very
easy to install. All you have to do is copy JARXXX.PRG into the AUTO
folder of the disk you normally boot from. Then, rename the program
so that the "XXX' is a number. This number, which is the quantity of
new cookies to make space for in the jar, can be anywhere from 0 to
999.
LGSEL The Little Green Selector version 1.1 by Charles F. Johnson is a
complete replacement for the dreaded GEM item selector. Once it's
installed, all programs that call the GEM item selector will end up
using the vastly improved Little Green Selector instead. You can
install it at bootup time by placing it in an AUTO folder, or run it
from the desktop at any time after bootup. Shareware!
MAUSWIND Maus-Window version 1.25 by Thomas Binder. When Maus-Window is
active and the mouse-cursor resides over a non-active window, the
window will automatically be topped. This is achieved by simulating
a mouse-click using the AES-call appl_tplay(). This conforms to GEM
and causes no problems with "clean" applications. Contains both
English and German documentation. Donationware!
MB49_BIN MasterBrowse version 4.9 by Michel Forget is a shareware file viewer/
browser that is very fast. It has too many features to list!
NEWDATE NEW DATE III, the Battery Emulator by Ruiz Lionel. Do you not have a
battery backed clock and ever wished to have the date conserved when
you boot-up your ST or your STe? Now it is possible easily, by
booting this program with your disk disprotected or your hard-disk.
It is simple, it saves on the disk the date you entered once. When
you boot-up again during the same day, you'll have the pleasure to
have the date conserved. And if you boot-up just one day after,
you'll just have to press the "+" key to refresh the date.
STUFFER DC STuffer version 0.9 by Keith Gerdes allows you to load in more
than six desk accessories (DAs) into GEM. DC STuffer acts just like
the desktop, you can open up any desk accessory, and if it does not
take complete control of the desktop (or the program you are running)
you can go to DC STuffer again to open another desk accessory. This
version has a limit of 32 DAs. Shareware - registering removes the
32 DA limit.
TYPE_IT Type version 2.0 by SKWare One. To easily read any text file in any
rez, TYPE_IT.PRG, the fastest loading and displaying text reader
program around! Falcon-compatiable and it works from any resolution,
including TrueColor. TYPE_IT gives you 80-col display even in 40-col
resolution, with fast forward and reverse scrolling, and it's less
than 22 Kbytes. Freeware!
WINX22 Winx version 2.2 by Martin Osieka expands GEM in TOS versions up to
version 4.04 to include some of the features which are available in
MultiTOS. From users point of view this means (among other stuff)
more windows allowed, enhanced control elements for background
windows and an expanded user interface. Additionally some bugs and
deficiencies of the different GEM versions have been removed or
repaired. Complete German AND English docs included!

Holst and Geir Oyvind Vaelidalo. This virus killer program
recognizes 188 different NON-virus boot sectors, 31 different virus
infected boot sectors, 96 different NON-virus resident programs, 5
Anti-Viruses, 5 Link Viruses, 27 different Cookies, and 24 different
packers. It should be hard to get a false positive with this
program. Shareware!
CLINIC Clinic version 2 by Claude Grenier is a tool that will help you
recover data from a damaged disk. It will also check for (and
eliminate) boot sector viruses. It has a "safety net" feature in
it's virus elimination routine such that if you accidentally destroy
a non-virus executable boot sector, you can restore the original boot
sector later.
HOSPITAL Hospital - A suite of virus prevention and detection programs for the
Atari ST by Neil Forsyth. These programs have been developed to
detect and prevent the spread of viruses. The programs apply
primarily to floppy disk boot sector viruses but some do have a wider
application.
SVKP0_1 This is an alphatest copy of a brand new peice of virus killing
software from Sircware, named: Sircware VK PRO. This version
recognises 61 bootsector viruses. VK PRO is the only ST virus killer
in the world that not only recognises Link viruses, but can fully
repair infected files.
